  1. Im not really well versed in this, but it would seem that it dosnt really harm bass populations as argued by some. If it dosnt ruin bass populations, I can see no problem with it. I would be curious however, to see study results relating to this question if anyone knows of this info.
  2. In-fisherman, hands down my fav. Lottsa good tips and product reviews.
  3. -2 this morning before work, but 50 by saturday.......Life will be good!
  4. Chatterbait or Boogiebait in the morning or evening, try playing with the colors, i like the frog pattern, or ozark smoke.
  5. A duck, he was not happy, and released himself about three feet from the shore. A few big mussels, and numerous snapping turtles. Also, the same stupid bullfrog twice in a row. you think after the first time he would have figured out that spro frog was not edible....
  6. Well, ice fishing, which just doesnt compare, thank God for Jim Beam. Planning my spring purchases, and driving my wife insane. cant wait till this darn ice goes away......
  7. I think its time to buy a boat, get away from constant shore fishing. Otherwise, have a great time and catch fish!
  8. Outstanding story! Great to here stuff like this!
  9. welcome from the west burbs!
  10. Outstanding Post, I will be using info like this for ice fishing for bass this year. This will be the first year I will be targeting bass through the ice and I hope to be able to report success. Thanks again.
  11. Thank you for what you do, you make all this possible.
  12. Ive had good luck after flooding of one of my fav lakes, it to is close to a river. Ive heard from the Pike and Walleye guys that their fish seemed to bolt, but I love fishing Bass at high water. I change up my presentation to fast/flashy like spinners or chatterbaits, and also find that the bass moved to new spots. Try fishing the most severe points and look for less severe drop-offs than you would normally fish, a couple of feet of water can really change the "landscape".
  13. Nothin wrong with 30 smallies! ;D
  14. In excess of 400, prob more. I caught 29 Largemouth last night. I love the fall...... 8-)
  15. I would totally be up for a mid winter meet and greet. Great idea!
  16. How is everyone this evening? Prob. not great if your on the computer and not out fishin. Anyway, my name is Phil and I live in Elmhurst, Il. I do alot of fishin after work and on the weekends, mostly for bass, but anything with gills is alright with me. I use mostly spinner and jig/plastic combos, but will fish with live bait every once in a while. I think this is a terrific site, and am very pleased to have discovered it. Thanks to the creators and members of this forum for the great info and good storys located here. Anyone who fishes in the greater Dupage/Kane/Cook county areas with tips or questions can feel free to email me anytime. Thanks again.
  17. I have no experience with this stuff, but if your just looking to count "breaths", I would head to BPS or Cabellas and use the Giant fish tanks. Probely be pretty consistent with nature, being used to seeing people and all....
  18. That snakehead stuff is a shame..... >
  19. Here in Illinois, the record is 13 lb 1 oz, caught in 1976 outta stone quarry lake. Ive had a couple of 5 lb'ers this season, but mostly 2-4 lb'ers. Hopefully one of those grow up to be the next record bass in Illinois.
  20. I like a Carolina rig when things are slow, but its hard to answer that with any degree of accuracy. Sometimes you just have to keep throwing stuff, and alot of times you need finesse rigs, small jig and grubs, etc.
  21. Anyone fish Deep Quarry Lake in Bartlett? I got two GREAT bass Monday night. Waters high and the fish are killin' chatters and spinners.
  22. Thanks for the welcome! This is a great site and im glad to have found it!
  23. Ive never caught one larger than 26", so i cant speak for the biguns', but for the snakes ive had good luck grabbin em' just behind the head near the top of the gills. seems to give a good grip, and didnt seem to hurt the fish.
  24. Man they sure are fun! Pretty fish!
  25. Improved greatly on worm jigs and carolina rigs, also caught my first Bass on a spinner and have been slayin em' ever since. HAVE NOT used live bait for Bass this year, but stuck with the live stuff for catfishin. Also jigged my first walleye. Great year and ive had a blast!
