  1. Alright guys, give this a try. On those 2 days you are gonna have low tide at about 8&9 am. I would look to go into Washington channel and fish the seawall at the war college(generals row?) and look for the grass line. Try topwater, flukes or senkos. Also toss a Carolina rig along the edges. If you are feeling adventurous, you can go all the way up and fish about 100 yards or so along the seawall before the 295 bridge all the way up to the 14th st bridge where the tidal basin empties. Small jigs along the seawall and tubes at the tidal basin discharge. Don't be surprised if you hook into striper or smallmouth up in there. Let us know how you do and most of all be careful and have fun!
  2. I have echoed Waynes praise of these motors before. If you ever want to sell it, keep me in mind. Those things are as close to bullet proof as you get in terms of trolling motors!!
  3. Went to boater's world to check out any deals on the going out of business sale they have. Found the 7' MH fast spinnerbait rod. Guess how much I walked away with it for??? $62.00 !!!!!!! So much better that a sharp stick in the eye!!!!
  4. Reaction Innovations flirt worm 6.95
  5. It's possible they could be spawning then. The biggest problem with Burke is that the water is very clear and has been for the past few years. This means that most of the bigger fish will spawn in deeper water. 3 years ago I saw 2 very big fish on A bed in about 12 ft. Of water. That's not to say you can't find them shallower but your best bet is to get out there in a boat and look for the drops next to the normal spawning flats. Good luck and let us know how you do!!
  6. I believe there is no way you can retrieve a bait faster than a bass can swim
  7. Let me know if you ever want to replace it with another trolling motor. I'll be happy to purchase it from you. Like Wayne said, I wish they still made that motor. For my 14 ft. jon boat, you can't beat that thing. Pretty much bullet-proof!!!!!
  8. What does the owners manual say? If you don't have that, then contact the manufacturer. My Hummingbird is supposed to be turned off when not in the water.
  9. I believe Wayne P. mentioned something about when Hunting Run was operational in another thread.
  10. I can see 1 problem right away. Have you thought about redecking the front so that instead of the deck being on top of the gunnals and putting your deck slightly below them. I have a mod v 14 footer and my decks are slightly below the gunnals front and back. It's a little narrow boat and it's not so tippy. Good luck.
  11. Diffrent grasses start growing at diffrent times of the year. Certain areas on the river show signs Of growth before others. May should be the start of the hydrilla but some of the other grasses may well be established.
  12. Everything for the most part is free of ice. Got out on the Potomac Sunday for a few hours on my buddys big boat. Couple of small bass in the spoils. Broke off 2 on a dropshot that felt better. Lake Anne in Reston gave me my first jb fish!! Huntsman is ice free and you can catch bunches of small crappie with small white tubes in 1/16 oz. lead head. Looking forward to getting out on the res this week-end. Yes, Burke Lake has great fishing. Go out and learn it and you will be a believer!!
  13. Being a lefty I always felt more comfortable with my dominant hand doing the heavy lifting. A rh baitcaster only made sense. Conversly, I use to fish my spinny stuff lh. I did make the change on my spinnys to rh and it was an easy adjustment. Maybe us leftys are more adaptible that way!! Not saying you rightys can't do it, just might take a bit longer!!
  14. Is it ice free in Aquia?? Up around the District there is still a lot of ice.
  15. Those baits are the shizzle my nizzle!!!
  16. i also have a kistler helium 2 ltx 6'9" m/h spinny that i have a hard time putting down in the summer chuckin' shakeys on. just wondering if i will have the same luck with the droppy??
  17. was looking on TW at a Kistler Magnesium TS 6'9" drop shot rod. anyone have or use one???? thoughts, good or bad?????? very compelling with the price tag.
  18. think brush hog and get to it!
  19. Huntsman is soooo frozen........has been for about 2-3 weeks now. unfortunatly it freezes much quicker because its kinda shielded from sunshine on a lot of the surface for long lengths in the winter. need a nice week of above average temps and that place cracks wide open!!
  20. not sure what you are gonna be fishing cover wise on the res but i never have much luck unless i'm fishing deeper, down lake this time of year. mouths of deeper cuts and creeks. short bluffy points. look for the banks that get the most afternoon sun. let us know how you do. oh yea......santa was very wise and gave me gift cards so i can make up my own mind!!!!!!
  21. The res is definitly going to be very stained, especially up in Bull Run. Burke may be your best bet. What are hour new toys if I may ask??
  22. Unless you have a key to the Bull Run launch or the Hooes Run launch you probably are going to have to settle for Burke
  23. better options....yes. effective.......... he!! yes. it has it's place and time. think schooling fish and count it down where you think the fish are. good luck
  24. woah........dude, that looks tight. I have both shimano and ambassadur(sp) revo sx. the revo is a very nice reel. i,m gonna have to agree with daviscw, it would rock with the sx. on that note, i think i;m gonna have to get me one of those g blank rods myself and hook it with an sx!!!!
  25. anyone have an idea where i can locate any of these rods?? had some a few years ago and would like to see if i can purchase a couple more for drop shotting and shakey head.
