  1. You have to keep constant tension on the line the enitre time when trying to land a fish. As soon as there is slack in the line (especially when fish jump) the fish can toss the lure. One way to eliminate the slack in the line is to use braid. Sure, you cant use it in all conditions ( ie clear water) but when you can, use it! I prefer 30 lb Sufix Performance Braid for the baitcaster. It is a little limper than most braids. For the spinners I recommend 20 to 30 lb Power Pro. Just personal prefrence though. A lot of guys like Fireline and Spiderwire. I personally have had bad experiences with both. Good Fishing Everyone!! 8-)
  2. Hey everybody. Glad to now be a part of such a great web site. 8-) I live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, and have been fishing for 3 to 4 years. I dont currently own a boat so my fishing is done on shore, but hopefully that will change this year. I enjoy all types of fishing. Mainly bass and cat fishing though. Me and my buddy Swilly78 are always looking for new hot spots in the area. If anyone knows of some good lakes in the area let me know. Thats all for now, well talk to you guys.
  3. Needing something to do other than sitting around doing drugs and drinking my life away. Needed something to occupy my time. And it wasnt just fishing that did it. I can thank FISHING and GOLF. I like fishing more though. LOTS CHEAPER. :
  4. All species welcome. Showcase your 09 fishing pics and stories. LETS SEE THOSE FISH. Hows the year starting off for everybody? ANY LUCK?
  5. Try Shabbaona Lake, As well as Lake Shelbyville.
  6. Had some luck at my jobs private lake in Northbrook IL. 3 largies on Friday the 13th. 4 on Monday the 9th. And I went out at lunch today and caught 2. Spawn is just around the corner here. Bass are already scoping out beds. :
  7. Ive had great luck with cut baits. Whatever you do stay away from store bought stink baits. They are useless. Around me in the midwest, a nice big golden roach on a circle hook works well too. 8-)
