  1. Everyone. If you can handle spending 15$ on a lure (I know its hard), I have the top water bait for you. Sebile Ghost Walker & Sebile *** They have the best walk the dog action I've seen and with very little effort. The Ghost Walker is silent and the *** has lots of noise. I like the Natural Shad Color. Amazing Action!!
  2. Whatever you do..... if something isnt working right away change it. Bass a finicky in prespawn on small lakes. Basically all I fish is small lakes.. Change presentation, color, style.. everything until you find something that works. When you find that something, it usually works the whole time. Today in Mid March in Chicago I went out and caught around 50 largies in 2 hours. Why???? Because I found what they want, where they want it and, what they want look like. A Lucky Strike Fat CB BSD-1 Aurora Black Extreme Shallow Crank Bait. I threw everything else at em' without a bite. GOTTA FIND WHAT THEY WANT
  3. a 10 in power worm. a 5 inch Sebile magic swimmer. BIG BIG BIG

  18. HOLY ***** ******. ;D I went out after work to the lake that is on the campus where I work and I smoked em'. I mean SMOKED EM". Normally for Mid March in Chicago you could expect to go out and catch 10 bass in a couple hours. Mind you the lake is stocked and is catch and release only. There are so many LMB in there that I have never seen one caught over 3 lbs. They are stunted due to overpopulation. Anyway..... like I said I was expecting to go out today and catch a few fish and be happy. NO SIR. At first I threw on the go to rig for the lake. A 7 in power worm on a 1/4 oz. Gopher Mushroom Head Jig. 10 or 20 casts later not even a bite. Just out of pure luck, instead of changing color or presentation a little, I jumped straight to the Lucky Craft Fat CB BDS-1 Aurora Black Extreme Shallow Crank Bait. I dont often use crankbaits, only because there is no need usually. The jigs and carolina rigs and texas rigs and spinners and boogie baits all work great. Well not today. It was all about the shallow crank. 1st cast....FISH ;D.......2nd cast......FISH ;D.........4th cast......FISH ;D. In 30 minutes a caught atleast 10. Not to mention that in that first 30 minutes I caught the biggest bass I have ever caught (ties with one at another lake) and the biggest out of that lake. 2 lbs 8 oz. ;D Doesn't sound like much, but let me tell you for this lake it is... Just ask Swilly78. After a while I start walking the shoreline (I think I caught every fish in the area). And its 1 after another after another. I caught somewhere around 50 bass maybe more. My thumb is looking like a just fished spawn for 48 hours straight. Unreal for this time of year where I live. GOTTA LOVE IT. Anyway..... Good Luck Fishing Everyone 8-)
  19. Good Solid Advice.
  20. Big Largies. The lake I mainly fish is so overpopulated that the bass dont grow bigger than 2 and a half pounds (as far as I know 2lb 4oz is the biggest Ive caught). Its a catch and release lake and the bass just keep spawning. Its getting out of hand. Norhterns wont get bigger than 26 in. Walleye wont get over 3 lbs Not to metion there is 0 fishing pressure. Private lake for employees only. GIMME SOME BIG BASS!!!!! Good Fishing! 8-)
  21. I have had it on every LMB Ive caught this year. And the main food source for the bass is not crayfish. Toooo many shad for them to eat. It has to be because of cold water. Once water temps rise you dont see it anymore. Just after ice out. But hey I aint no scientist Good Fishing! 8-)
  22. I like a 7 in power worm Red Shad or Tequilla Sunrise Color. Either on a 1/4 oz. Gopher Mushroom Head Jig with 2/0 Hook. Or on a Carolina rig with 18 to 24'' leader and a 4/0 worm hook. Works like a charm for me. Granted the water conditions are slightly different but close. The water I fish isnt really stained much. But it is dark and deep. About 40 feet. I fish those rigs all year long and work great no matter the weather conditions. Almost all the bass are in the 1 1/2 to 2 lb range. Biggest was 2 lbs 4 oz. Let me know if you have any luck Good Fishing! 8-)
  23. Thats a great article. Very informing. I am a fairly new angler and I did not realize that your hands should be wet before handling. Good to know. Anything to keep the fish alive. Anyone had luck with the gut hook removal technique? Good Fishing! 8-)
