Fishing In Semi Heavy Wind
I've been told that when its windy, you shoud concentrate on the banks where the wind is blowing...fish "should" be stacked there because the current the wind is putting on the water is blowing them there. There any truth to that? Do the fish mostly just ride things out and let mother nature position them. My theory is that sounds right. If a fish wants to stay in a certain location, it would have to constantly try to move to maintain position...which would mean they are expending energy. In situations like this(wind)...could it be the fish are more focused on maintaining position that they put any other activity on the back burner? I went out yesterday and zeroed the whole day.A guy in a bass boat told me the fish were positioned against the bank, in 3-10 ft of water because of the way the wind was pushing them there. Sure enough, I put on a jerkbait with a 5 ft diving depth and on the first cast had one ambush it right at the boat.

Anyone Experience Trouble With Megastrike Attractant?
It really wasn't my intention to get a new tube...

Anyone Experience Trouble With Megastrike Attractant?
Ok so I contacted Megastrike, spoke with Bobby himself. Explained the situation to him. It was a great discussion and for those that have never spoken to or done business on a personal level with him, he's VERY approachable... The issue I see in this post is in the context. It can get lost in text, its a lot better to be able speak to a live person where conviction and emotion can be understood. Bottom line is that I never intended to badmouth the product, I'm sorry if it came across that way. Ill just be over here in the corner eating my humble pie.

Anyone Experience Trouble With Megastrike Attractant?
I understand he stands behind his product...if I was really THAT concerned about getting it replaced I would have already got in contact with him.I asked the question because I know a lot of people here are Megastrike users and just wanted to know if anyone had a similar experiece. If I was truly bad mouthing this product, I would have said that I never intended to use it again...however...I have more tubes of it and I continue to use it. I really like the stuff and it appears I just got a bad batch...no ill will or feelings toward Bobby or his product.

Anyone Experience Trouble With Megastrike Attractant?
Was wondering if anyone else had this problem with Megastrike? The problem I encountered was a clogged opening in the tube. I would squeeze to get more attractant, but none would come out. I tried piercing the hole, enlarging the hole...still nothing. This tube wasn't cold, and had been sitting in 60 degree sun. I got fed up and decided to slice the side of the tube open to figure out the issue. The problem wasn't with the tube, it was with the attractant itself. There are some solid particles in the attractant, well it seems like a lot of the solids got together and just totally solidified. I pulled the pea sized mass out and attempted to squeeze it to break it up and smear on my bait...NOPE!! This was the same color and consistency as a piece of Root Beer Barrel Hard Candy...rock solid...so needless to say, one tube of Megastrike went in the trash. Not really bad mouthing the stuff, i love it and will continue using it...just be aware that if you have trouble getting the Megastrike from the tube, this is likely the reason why.

Opinionwise What's A Better Brand Frog?
For those that throw Frogs and have tried them all...I was wondering about 2 frog brands in particular.I'm asking about the ones with the skirted legs (no kicking versions apply to this) Snag Proof and Scum Frog...here's my take on the two companies. Snag Proof has Tourney Pros endorsing these so they have a much better chance of being sold to avid anglers. I haven't heard or seen Scum Frog sponsoring pros so I'm guessing they are kind of a "sleeper" red headed stepchild kind of company. Both companies make a product that isn't very pleasing to the eye...that being said...eye candy ISNT what catches fish, action is what catches fish on topwaters. Basically a reaction bait. I'm betting if you threw a Marshmallow out there and twitched it onatted vegetation you'd get a blow up. There's disturbance on top of the mats and they just go for it without even seeing it. Ok so...now here's where the rubber meets the road...how are each on the ability to not take on water...and what about the body design...hookup ability with each and durability? Now remember...you can't really base hookups on the bait itself. Sometimes the fish are just whacking it, but not committing to choking it down. Then there's also the fact that, while the fish may want to choke it down, vegetation prevents it. Last aspect is on the angler himself. You can't blame the bait for poor hookups if the timing for the hookset isn't right. Some anglers think a frog is junk because of poor hookups, when in fact, they are too quick on the hookset. I have personally fished a smaller Guntersville patterned Snag Proof Frog and had only a few blowup on it. The last blowup I had came from a Green Sunfish...the only fish I have been able to hook into. I noticed the after I unhooked the fish, that on of the points of my hook was curled up just a tiny bit. Its still sharp, and actually may have more of a cutting edge to it. I haven't fished any Scum Frogs but might decide to do so based on feedback given here...so ehats everyones take on each of these?

Alternative Retrieve With The Carolina Rig
Just picked up the book "In Pursuit of Giant Bass" I'm reading about the Stitching retrieve. I've heard of it, but never really studied it in depth. Does anyone use this retrieve...how would it work if applied to a Carolina Rig to replace the standard "Drag" Would the heavy weight be too much for a stitching retrieve?

Jig Skirts/trailers And Colors
Just out of curiosity for those that throw jigs regularly...does everyone have a color code when it comes to skirts and trailers. Like what color skirts and plastic trailers compliment each other to look natural. Oh geez sounds like a woman..."Do these heels go with this skirt" Anyway what are some good colors that go together. I have a green emerald beaver style bait I'd like to use as a trailer on a punch rig, I can't think of what color skirt to use. Sounds like a woman again "I wanna go out, but I haven't a single thing to wear..." Anyone care to tackle this question?

Hooks For Punching

Hooks For Punching
I've seen a lot of people using the straight shank hooks with the keeper barbs when using punch skirts Is that really necessary? Would a offset flipping hook work just as good? Is there a benefit to using the straight shank hook?

Yum Boogey Bait Vs Colorado Blade Spinnerbait In Muddy Water
I know each has its own strengths and weaknesses. Wondering what everyone thought about each one in very muddy water. Would one excel over the other? And as far as the Boogey bait...does anyone have any feedback on them? I've heard they can come apart...anyone experexperience this?

Strike King Slither Rig
Yea this year I'm really trying expand my horizons. I'm all about throwing a DS, but tired of sub 12 inch dinks. So far this year I have done well on Rapala DT cranks and have taken a new liking to the C-rig. Haven't caught any monsters but a few 2 lb fish on new(to me) techniques is all it takes to get me to put that DS down and start trying different stuff. I've limited myself for so long...can't believe what I've been missing out on.

Flipping/punching Thick Vegetation-How To?
I kinda got the whole pitching/flipping thing down...I was wondering about once you get the bait through, how do you fish it? Is it just a lift and drop, shake and repeat or do you impart other action? Is it just basically a vertical presentation, where you drop the bait in an area...shake it and remove it?

Strike King Slither Rig
Anyone used this? Got one today and have been messing around with it. Its pretty neat as you can change out the skirts to your liking. At first it was a little difficult putting the new skirt on (Changed my skirt from a Bama Craw color to a Black/Blue/Purple Skirt). All you need is a pair of snap ring pliers. Put the tips of the pliers through the skirt collar and squeeze the pliers to open the collar enough to put the Slither Rig weight inside the collar. Just like that, you've changed the color of your skirt.I'm looking forward to trying it out in a muddy water pond soon.

Startin To Really Like The Carolina Rig...questions
I'm throwing my C-Rig on a Falcon Lowrider Carolina Lizard Dragger I which I have also used for a Frog Rod.I'm running a 1oz Steel Egg weight with a 65lb braid mainline and a 24 inch 12# mono leader. Got hung on something yesterday and try as I might I couldn't break free. The knots held, the lines held...in the end the hook straightened...so I'd say my knot tying ability is up to par...
