  1. Some of us( not myself) are spoiled, and catch large fish all the time, and maybe not give it a second thought. Myself,I catch a lot of dinks,so personally I'd say any fish 2# and over is a "nice" fish, and at this point in my fishing experience,a 5# fish is a giant, mainly because my PB is between 5 and 6 #. How does everyone else rate thier fish based on size?
  2. Sadly my scale only read 3.31,its a cheapie luggage scale from the orient. This fish was solid and THICK... I'll have to weigh something of known weight and see how much its off by. I'm thinking this fish is every bit of 5#
  3. Caught this fish on a T rigged California craw colored Rage Craw. I know its not a "pig" like Big O shows off,but for me personally,I only get into fish like this once in a blue moon on this lake, its filled with Dinks. I Think the Rage Craw with Megastrike really helped throughout the day,I caught one more that was almost as large as this one.Im lovin them Rage Craws!! I have a scale but im not sure it accurate,so based on everyones experience, what does everyone think this fish weighed?
  4. These look interesting to me. Im guessing they are a topwater bait but they are shaped like they could be used as a frog chunk on a Jig. Ive searched and cant find anything about these. Anyone have any info about them,a good rigging setup and where to get more?
  5. I buy alot of assorted soft plastics online. In on purchase I got a bunch of different odds and ends worms in unmarked Ziploc Bags. One of the bags has a few 3 inch segmented cigar shaped worms that have two words on it "JERSEY and RIGGS. Ive looked up those 2 names together and seems these are a finesse worm meant to be fished on light line, wacky rigged with nothing larger than a 1/0 hook,on spinning tackle in no more than 12 ft of water.Something like a Senko with the same thickness throughout, not tapered on one end and not blunt ,but rounded on the ends.b Ive watched a video and seen these catch pretty much nothing but Dink Bass, Crappie and Pickerel, but testimonials claim these have won $$$ in Tourneys. Anyone have their own testimony about these?
  6. Anyone use it to attach 2 lines, like maybe braid and Fluoro or Mono and Fluoro? How does this knot stand up against a Uni to Uni? Seems easier to tie the triple surgeons knot, but how strong is it?
  7. I was looking at a gourd green color as well or summer Craw color
  8. What's everyone think of a Green Pumpkin/Chartreuse swirl color as a trailer for this skirt?
  9. I had 2 jig skirts fall apart due to deterioration of the bands. Instead of tossing them I found a good band and pieced the 2 skirts together. Colors are green pumpkin with black dashes, plain green pumpkin, and the last color is a solid yellow like color with black dashes. In my opinion the yellow color shows the most. What would a good color jig trailer be to go along with the colors in the skirt?
  10. Years ago I bought a 100ct bag of Berkley Sabertail Bugs on EBay,marketed as "Factory Seconds." I had forgotten all about having these until I stumbled upon them last week. I personally don't see a single thing wrong with them. Maybe the color isn't exactly how its supposed to be but the shape of the bait and all that looks good.Just for giggles,I rigged one up on a Jig as a trailer. Action is great on the fall, and the "Sabertails"(claws) float up nicely. Anyone else ever use these as a jig trailer?
  11. I own a 12 ft Jon Boat with matching trailer. I want to install something like "Bearing Buddies" on the hubs of the trailer.I've looked and there are assorted sizes available, based on the hub size. How do I determine which is the correct size for my application? How easy or difficult are these to install?
  12. Try Gambler Florida Rig Goo Weights, available at TW.They come with a line threader and stay on your line pretty tight. All you have to do is slide your weight to the desired length. One draw back is that it doesn't slide freely on the line like a conventional C rig. Carolina Keepers work, but I have read they will slide down on the line depending on the size weight you are throwing. So if you use a Carolina Keeper, and the weight is too much, you may loose the length of your Carolina Rig on your first cost/lob.
  13. Good way to learn a topwater hooksets is to give em a go at night. In that scenario, you really have no choice but to wait to feel the fish prior to setting the hook. In the daylight, people tend to set the hook based on seeing the strike, which can be to early. At night, you'll be using your hearing senses as well as your feeling senses to time the hookset. Give that a try, make a good effort to memorize that technique, and put it to use during daytime outings while throwing topwater baits.
  14. Just picked some up...wow,this is a pretty big bait. No wonder Big O slaughters the toads with it. Who else uses it,and what's a good rigging setup( hook size, weight ect)? Also what technique is preferred(c-rig,t-rig...)? I'd likely T-rig it myself. Who has had success with the Rage Hawg?
  15. Been kinda playing a little game the past few outings. One day I make a cast past the corner of where a bluff wall makes a 90 degree turn and I caught a fish on a crankbait. A week later I do it exactly the same as before and same thing ,same spot, same bait(different color)...another fish. 3 weeks later...well you know what im getting at. How does this occur? What's the likelihood of calling shots like that?
  16. All Gulp products are like Pork Trailers...they dry out and are useless afterwards
  17. Is fishing a jig really all that complex? I think people(myself included) over analyze it. I have yet to boat a fish on a jig but next week I'm gonna leave everything behind and try to learn what jig fishing is all about. Anything I need to pay particular attention to as I attempt to learn these baits?
  18. Wondering at what depth deep water becomes dark water. My thoughts are that even if you have visibility with your eyes down to 10 feet, that the deeper the water, the less sun will penetrate, and because of this, darker baits would be a key ingredient to finding fish. So in the shallows, use lighter colored baits, and past a certain depth, darker baits. Even if the conditions are bluebird skies, the light only goes down so far.Thoughts?
  19. Yea well, guess ya had to be there...I don't get it.
  20. Anyone ever use a jig in this color? What are prime situations for this color,i suppose low light and murky water? Anywhere else this color would be good for?
  21. I catch a lot of dinks near those bluff walls on a Dropshot. In fact I catch a lot of dinks in that lake period. I stuck the big fish that broke me off over to the right side of the island right off the huge Log in the shallow water. So where do you reside?
  22. But why do most Craw cranks have the Craw swimming forward...?
  23. So the past 2 outings I have been throwing a California Craw colored Rage Craw T-rigged,and have been getting a good amount of bites, including one Toad today that would have easily been my new PB,if it hadn't of broke me off at the boat. I stuck the fish next to a large partially submerged log in about 2 feet of very stained water. The fish saw the boat and charged under it,broke me off and I watched it swim away effortlessly. I was heart broken. Soooo now to my questions. I feel very comfortable at detecting bites with a T-rigged Rage Craw. I've boated 6 fish with this bait and technique in the past 2 outings, and now I wanna give a Jig and Rage Craw a try. I understand a T-rig and Jig retrieve are somewhat similar and that detecting the bite is also similar. I'd likely be throwing a 3/8 to 1/2 oz football head jig. The only color Rage Craw color I own is California Craw. Mine look like a mix between black neon and smoke with red flake. They look more black, but against light they are dark smoke colored. They don't have so much of the light colored bottom.I bought them in Bulk from a seller on EBay. Taking this color into account, what color jig skirt would this be a ideal match for? Also when a Rage Craw is used as a jig trailer, how many segments does everyone remove,or is it dependant upon the jig size and type?
