Lighting issues on my Boat Trailer--EDIT**
The adapter plug:(pay attention to the top of the plug (slot) and orientate yourself with the receptacle cover to understand which terminals get power from what.)

Spinnerbait weights
We all know spinnerbaits come in various weights. Whats everyones favorite/most productive weight of Spinnerbait to throw? Does everyone prefer a lighter(1/4 oz) model Or does everyone throw like a 3/8 oz and up? Why do you prefer to throw the size spinnerbait that you do?

Lighting issues on my Boat Trailer--EDIT**
All the lights on my Boat trailer function correctly EXCEPT the tail lights (Running Lights). I recently discovered why and have a few questions concerning this. The reason I can see is because the Adapter plug I am using to go from a round connector on my truck,to a 4 pin connector on the trailer doesnt have a provision for tail lights(running lights) Please see pics to understand what I am speaking of. So because this adapter doesnt have the provision for running lights, does this mean that running lights arent actually required by law? I mean if they are absolutely required by law, then why doesnt this adapter have a provision for it? I purchased this adapter at Walmart, and it was the only one that would fit the style of plug on my factory receptacle on my truck. Anyone think this is sort of hokey. What am I supposed to tell law enforcement when I get pulled over for no running lights on my trailer. Dont know if that will go over real well, but its plain as day if you look at the pics of the schematic on the receptacle cover on the truck and then look at the adapter plug. The adapter doesnt have provisions for running lights!!

Son caught his first Bass Yesterday
Been reading all the signs and stuff online about "Take a kid fishing" and its really been tearing at me. I kept thinking "I gotta Do this." My dad took me fishing so its my turn now. My stepson is a teenager and in that sort of distant state of adolescence where he just wants to do his own thing and hang out with his friends and play video games. Ive taken him out on the baot before and he caught a few Bluegill and from the looks of it,he really enjoyed himself. Its spring break now and I have been wanting to take each of my Stepkids out to the lake this week. The girls work,so its kinda hard to schedule anything. My son ,well he doesnt have anything going on so I invited him out. Decided to Troll some small Kastmasters,as the Trout are still Biting, and we might have gotten into some Bluegill and possibly some Bass. The action was quick as we got underway.I ended up boating 4 Trout, and my son boated his first 2 Trout ever and his first Bass ever. Although this Bass wasnt huge...just look at that smile. I played up that I was envious of his Bass and congratulated him on it. The whole way home he gloated about him catching the only bass and me not catching one,as he knows how much I love Bass Fishing. I was REALLY hoping we would hook into one, that way he can get an idea of what im always talking about when I go to the lake. Great day for sure. Wouldve stayed out longer but the Charge on the battery went away. Wait till the Bluegill Spawn...Ill take him out and im sure itll be a hoot!!

Small tear in my Aluminum Jon Boat Hull
When I got the boat,I noticed there was a spot where someone had placed silicone. Its not very large at all.The other day when I was out I noticed it starting to seep a little bit of water. Not much, was still able to stay out all day.The tear is maybe 1/4 inch. Theres a welding shop locally that can weld aluminum. Would it be advisable to take it by to see if they can repair this tear.Or would this just cause more problems? Would I be better off with trying to put some J-B Weld on it to see if that will fix it?

So im a little irked
Been looking for a Stern(transom)Light for my jon boat. Walmart has one for $26.As with anything, you want to shop around to get the best price. So I took a trip out of town yesterday and while I was there I went to a Sportsmans warehouse. They have the light,(its crazy long) for $18. Or I could get the light and the socket(which I already have installed) for $26. I bit the bullet and bought the one for $18. Today I was looking at the clearance section at WalMart, and staring me right in the face is a stern(transom) light (a nice short unit) for $4.50. I swear I have looked in the clearance section at least once a week for a month, and never saw these lights. Guess thats the way it goes sometimes huh...

Bomber square A!
Are the square A's you all are talking about the ones that go 0-3 feet on the dive? I picked up a few of them but haven't tried em out yet.

First time out this year, was this a pattern?
Finally got out for the first time today.Threw a SK Red Eye Shad in sexy shad,no bites. Tried a dropshot, normally produces, but again, no bites.Tied on a Rapala DT-6 in Shad pattern. After about 3 casts I hooked into a 12 incher. Released it and 2 casts later that bait ended up in a tree.Had one identical one with me,tied it on and 4 casts later hooked up with another, fatter 12 incher. Drifted with the wind and didn't get another bite.Tied on an older SK series 3 in a color that I can only describe as dark green back with a faint green scale side. Made a return to near where the other 2 fish were caught.First cast and I hooked into onother 12 incher. Water was right at 56 degrees.Isn't this a bit cold for the fish to be this active? Based on the water temps, where are the fish in relation to the spawn?? Pre spawn, spawn or post spawn? With how the fish were caught today...was this considered a pattern?

Bait Monkey Got me Today
Yeah my walmart does that too.YUM dingers, regular price $3.00,Red tag price $3.00... Keep an eye on that red tag stuff. Normally when they clearance it,its gonna be a discontinued(non reorder item) The price normally drops every week or 2 until its gone..A few years ago they clearanced Norman cranks. I picked a bunch up at $1.00 a piece. Now theyve restocked em again at normal price. They are carrying more and more good stuff which probably won't sell at the current price.Ill be watching the clearance section like a hawk.

Bait Monkey Got me Today
Went back this evening and picked up the last 3/8 chatterbaits they had in the clearance saection. There were 3 of them. One white, one Chartreuse and white and one chartreuse and green. They were on a peg marked $2.00. That's a deal that couldn't be passed up. Tip...if you are shopping the clearance section, always take what you want to buy to one of those scanners located throughout the store to verify price.Sometimes some of the items in the clearance section don't get entered correctly into the system.I f you find a large quantity if product for and incredible deal, scan them yourself prior to going to checkout. This way there aren't price discrepancies when you go to check out. 2 of the 3 chatterbaits rang up for $2.75.I brought this to a managers attention and she did a price override.I got all 3. Chatterbaits for $2.00 a piece.

Bass Pro Shops Laser Eye Spinnerbaits
I purchased one on Ebay and noticed the clevis that spins on the shaft was disconnected from the bait. The clevis and the blade were laying in the bottom of the unopened package. Reviews on the BPS website show others have had similar trouble with these spinnerbaits. Anyone here ever had this issue with these baits. Was it ever brought to the attention of QC at BPS? Is this still a problem,or has it been recified?

Jigs fallin apart!
- Spinnerbait Hook sharpness problems?
Anyone have a favorite spinnerbait thats seen its last days because of a dull hook? Or maybe like myself, youve been throwing cranks, and hooked into some discarded line, and on the end of that line is a spinnerbait thats been on the bottom for who knows how long. I have such a spinnerbait, and the hook point is toast, but I think the rest of the hook is ok. This spinnerbait can be used again(with success) Just throw a trailer hook and keeper on it and your back in business. This may not be such a big deal or discovery, but for those that hadnt thought of it,keep this tip in mind.- Bait Monkey Got me Today
I browse the Clearance section at Walmart at least once a week. Today I went in and everything clearance was gone. I searched around and found they had moved it. Some of the Fishing Clearance items had been marked down quite a bit. This is what I picked up: 2 Rapala DT-6 Crankbaits,Regular Price $7.00, I paid $2.50 for each 11 Spools of Vicious Fluorocarbon line(5 spools of 8# and 6 spools of 10#) Normally priced at $9.00 ea., I paid $2.50 a spool 9 Bags of Berkley Shakey Worms, Normally priced at $3.50 a bag,I paid $1.50 a bag. Theres more stuff, but at the moment the prices are a wee bit on the high side still. Ill wait a few weeks and hopefully theyll drop the price and I can capitalize on the deals before someone else does.- anchor related questions for smaller aluminum boats
I dont typically anchor in water that deep, but in case I decide to ...- Name these Jig colors
Top: "Mixed Marmalade" Bottom: " Green Sunfish Special" as green Sunfish are quite often a bright orange color on their fins- anchor related questions for smaller aluminum boats
brick attached to 50ft of rope, I picked up at Lowes, for my kayak I was using an Alternator off a Small Block Chevy last year.- anchor related questions for smaller aluminum boats
Ive got 100' of the paracord on my boat. The lake I fish has a steep incline to the bank that almost drops straight down. Its 60' plus in some areas. The extra also comes in handy for other things as well,if needed.- Jigs fallin apart!
Ive also heard of spraying the jigs with Armor all to keep the skirt material from sticking together, maybe keeping the collar soft. What really sucks is when you buy a jig or a Spinnerbait in a certain color and as you are handling the package, even before opening it,the collar breaks.Whats even worse,is not having a skirt to replace it with, and noone in town is selling replacement skirts of any kind.- anchor related questions for smaller aluminum boats
That's what I have is an 8# mushroom anchor.I've got a pulley device to assist with hauling in the anchor.- Jigs fallin apart!
I bought my safety wire pliers at Harbor Freight for like $9.I picked up the green floral wire at wal mart for right around $2 I use a vice to hold the jig or spinnerbait by the hook.Cut a length of wire and wrap it twice as tight as you can by hand.Bring in the safety wire pliers and clamp down on the 2 ends of wire. You'll have to go kinda slow at first when twisting the wire.Do half turns and help the pliers along.Don't overtighten or you'll cut the skirt material.I usually twist until the wire breaks .I then cut it as close as possible to the skirt and tuck the ends.I sometimes even go as far as to take the rubber collar off since its not needed any more. This method of tightly securing the skirt with wire will cause it flare out when secured.Do this correctly and I doubt your skirts will EVER fall off.I ve done every skirted bait I own and that's the first thing ill do in the future when I buy skirted baits. For me its very relaxing and gratifying.- anchor related questions for smaller aluminum boats
I have a 12 foot jon boat I'm getting prepped for the season. What's everyones preference when it comes to anchor rope? I've decided to give military parachute cord a try.Its also called 5-50 cord as it has a rated breaking strength of 550 pounds. Its also small in diameter. One thing I noticed is that it has a good amount of stretch. Is this a bad thing? What about knots to secure the anchor to the line? What's the preferred knot? I use an arbor knot. Its the same knot I use when I spool my reels with. Is this a decent knot to use for this application?- Name this bait
Cool name, but Pop N Drops are lame, bro. You should be thinking bigger. MICLIC! Yea ya got me there Sapper!!- Lake Fork Magic Shad + Scrounger??
Roadwarrior is the one that told me about this. I think the Live Magic Shad will perform just as good on a Chatterbait as well. Ive seen this setup in the latest issue of In Fisherman. Didnt Boyd Duckett throw a CB with a Magic Shad in the Classic? Heres some links : http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=cahtterbait+live+magic+shad#hl=en&sa=X&ei=gCV5Tf3BNoyErQGhlrGQBg&ved=0CBQQvwUoAQ&q=chatterbait+live+magic+shad&spell=1&bav=on.2,or.&fp=170344a196d61403- Old fishing lures (what are they and are they worth anything?)
I see Lazy Ikes/Flatfish. The Crankbait,I dont know about. Value...No Idea - Spinnerbait Hook sharpness problems?
