  1. Is it because they are discontinued, that they sell for so much?
  2. I know Stripers can be caught in both Freshwater and Saltwater. They are named the same, but are they the same fish? They look alike. I have always wondered can a striper caught in freshwater, like lets say Lake Mead,be released in Saltwater? Can a Striper caught in Saltwater while surf fishing,be released into Freshwater?
  3. Ive seen these go for some good money($8-$12 each) on Ebay. Anyone know whats up with these things? Are they collectible or are they fish catchers(or both)?
  4. I needed a more solid, permanent mounting solution for my 12 ft Jon Boat. I gave the guy some Ideas I had and told him to run with it. I think he did VERY well. Each mount assembly is attached to the bench with a piece of Threaded rod that goes through the bench on the bottom of each Vertical"strap. One nut is welded to the rod and the one on the other side is removable,so this whole setup can be removed from the boat,if need be. Think itll hold up,or will the aluminum tear out once any stress is put on it(hookset/lean)? Im thinking the steel will take up the stress...of course on not an engineer. Does it just look pretty or will it be totally functional? Think its a bit overkill? Just from the looks,I really like it. Im planning on taking the boat out this week sometime for a test. It sure beats the heck out of those clamp on seat mounts!!!
  5. Was just browsing Ebay and came across some 3.5/0 hooks. So are these just an in between size? Or am I looking at the size wrong. Ive never seen this before in hooks, can someone enlighten me on why these hooks are rated at this size, and what application is this specifically for(if any). http://cgi.ebay.com/100-EAGLE-CLAW-LAZER-L713-SIZE-3-5-0-HOOK-/380176454210#ht_500wt_715
  6. I started using Megastrike Last year and I like it. A little goes a LOONG way.I used it alot last year and still have plenty left in the first tube I opened. A little between the finger and thumb, and smear it all over the bait. Wipe the excess off on my pants. For me JJ's isnt too user friendly, gotta treat it like its nitroglycerin. Ive never seen a thread titled "OHH NO I Spilled Megastrike on the Floor of my Boat...How do I get the Stain out" Or "How do I get the Smell of Megastrike out of my Clothing" JJ's isnt friendly to warmth either. In a Dry,rented Storage unit environment, over a fall/winter period,I had 4 Brand New(unopened) bottles totally evaporate on me. Imagine my surprise when I wanted to use it in the spring. This stuff has got to be kept cool.Go ahead and try opening a bottle after its been sitting on the deck for 30 minutes in the sun. Better be wearing gloves and an old shirt, because this stuff will boil over on ya upon opening it.This stuff has a boiling effect/sizzle sound when you dunk your baits in it as well when its been out in the sun. Not saying JJ's isnt good, but to many precautionary measures need to be taken when using it. As far as I know Megastike is compatible with all plastics unlike JJ's which has adverse reactions to Berkley and Elaztech baits(They Melt).
  7. Whats everyones preference? Do you fish with only a Trailer Hook on your Spinnerbaits,or do you opt for a Trailer for your spinnerbaits? Do you switch off once in awhile, and which way produces better? Personally I prefer no trailer and just a Trailer hook. I find that if you dont put a trailer on just right, the bait wont run true. I have also found out that if you store your spinnerbaits in a spinnerbait box for any amount of time, and they still have any of the salt injected trailers on them, that when you go to pull the baits out for the next use, your gonna have a bunch of corroded/rusted hooks and blades. Even the baits that didnt have trailers on them got corroded, just from being in the same confined box. It can make for a very sad day, when you have to throw your spinnerbaits away, that were perfectly fine when you stored them.Lesson Learned: If your gonna use trailers with salt in them, always remove the trailers from the baits prior to storage
  8. I searched but couldnt find anything in their website. Tackle Tour did a review on them. It shows how the line is tied. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewjigxpg2.html
  9. come upon an unknown body of water. You have 1 rod/reel and a Tackle Box with you.The box only has 1 jig/trailer,1 Shallow Crank,1 Deep Crank,1 Jerkbait,1 Spinnerbait,1 Buzzbait,A bag of Ribbon Tail Worms,A bag of Creature baits,a Bag of Soft Stick baits(senko)andTerminal Tackle (Hooks,Sinkers,Swivels). What is the first thing you try,and why? Id say, personally,id try the Soft Stick bait Wacky Rigged first. Because the amount of bites I have gotten on one in the past while using them.
  10. Im not too far north(maybe 30 minutes from the AZ/Mexico Border) but ive been itchin to go fishing. My boat is at a buddys shop getting seat mounts fabbed up. Thats not such a bad deal because even if I had the boat readily available,I still couldnt/wouldnt go. Its been blowing very strong recently and im in no shape to battle the winds in my 12 ft Jon Boat. So here I sit at home all day "fantasy fishing"
  11. Everyone is talking about the Crank KVD used in the classic. No one is emphasizing anything about the Spinnerbait that he used. Ive read that it was a BPS exclusive Pro Model. Anyone know which one in particular KVD used. He only has about a dozen different signature model spinnerbaits out there.
  12. Every Walmart I have gone to has a different inventory of stuff. Most are on the same page with products, but some just have different items. A Walmart in Tucson has a nice section of Flyfishing gear.Where I have never seen any other flyfishing equipment at any other Walmart. Its interesting to go to different Walmarts to see what they have. Some are "way behind". My local Walmart stopped carrying a certain bait like 5 years ago, while a Walmart in El Paso still carries it. I hit every Walmart possible when I travel to the big cities because of the different inventory they might carry at each one
  13. Accident or not,id ****** em up,But first id do a price check on the scanner they have located throughout the store. If it scans at that price there, then thats the price its gonna be at the register.
  14. Hey WW2,Not only did you open it,but you spent time to respond!!!
  15. Heard those Kermits get waterlogged easily
  16. Rename it the "KVD Classic" After all hes proven that he is "THE BASSMASTER"
  17. So im from Arizona, and my wife is originally from California. We are brainstorming about taking a trip to California. Ive been to where shes from(Long Beach) and I asked her if we could go to San Diego. One of the things id like to try is Chartered offshore deep sea fishing. Anyone know how a trip like this would work. What kind of species can I look at catching? What kind of prices are we talking? Id like someone with some experience to let me know the ins and outs of such a venture. Thanks
  18. Maybe they figure that since KVD IS "THE" BASSMASTER that a "Day on the Lake" wouldnt be any kind of a challenge.
  19. About 20 years ago when Lunker City 's Slug Go was THE BAIT like usual other manufacturers made their own version of the popular Slug Go, Culprit 's version was the Jerk worm, then several years later they discontinued the bait and a couple of years ago they relaunched. So yes, I 've fished with the Jerk Worm, I stil have several packs left and still use them every now and then, personally I like them, there are times they work better than the Slug Go and times they don 't. Now on how will it behave on a Chatterbait ? I have no idea, the bait itself is large ( I dont know if they make now a smaller version, back then they did ). The ones I have are 6"versions.I suppose if they are too long for a Chatterbait,I could always cut them down, for a smaller profile.
  20. Picked up a few bags of these for cheap.Ive tested them in my fish tank on a DS setup and I love the way they look. How well would these do on a chatterbait? Anyone ever fished them, they are Culprit Jerk Worms. http://www.culpritstore.com/catalog2/img/types/culprit_jerkworm.gif
  21. You can see the winning crankbait here: http://www.strikeking.com/strike-king-fans/bassmaster-classic-2011
  22. So has KVD ever done a "Day on the lake" like you read in Bassmaster Magazine?
  23. Been following several updates and one them said he was throwing a Charteuse SK Pro Model Spinnerbait and a 1.5 and 2.5 crankbait. Of course this is heresay at this point.
