Think the Biat monkey got the best of me today. I was at a Thrift Shop on the local military installation where there were 4 separate Ziploc bags full of assorted Japanese made baits. Mustve been a service member just returning from overseas,thinning out their baits. Most of the stuff is brand new and for what It cost me,I "think" I did ok.

These are the Benches Im working with

I used to fish a 10" jon that I got from my late uncle. He wasa welder and fabbed up some mounts for the seats to be attached to the benches. The way the mounts attached was to a lip that extended maybe 1/2 inch to the front and 1/2 inch tio the back of the bench. These mounts were then bolted to the extended lips and it worked VERY well. This 12 Ft Jon Boat is different ,the benches are wider and there is no lip anywhere on these benches. I would like to use the fabbed up mounts on the wider benches of this 12 ft Jon but I dont have the foggiest Idea of how to install the mounts. The aluminum on the benches is very thin and I know if I try to take self tapping screws and mount the benches straight to the bench,the screws will pull right out. The Benches on the 12ft Boat are totally virgin. They have no holes and no tampering. I dont want to just go and start trying to install these mounts with a trial and error attitude. I want to do it once and be done. Any thoughts? These are the fabbed up mounts im working with

Just got back from my local WM and I was impressed to see some of the new/different stuff they are stocking: KVD 1.5 Cranks Hula Poppers/Jitterbugs Larger assortment of Rebel Hardbaits Zebco Omniflex Braided line 1 thing I dont like is the switch on some prices. We had a normal WM until this new Super Center opened up. There at the old one,they had Vicious FC line for like $4.98 a spool. Even at that price,it wasnt selling,the packaging had dust all over it. Theyve brought the vicious brand line it to the Super Center for $9 a spool now(and thats in the clearance aisle!!!) They have Yum Dingers in the regular aisle for $3 a bag and they also have it in the clearance aisle for the exact same price!!.

Cute Pup!! I am the proud owner of a Chocolate Lab myself,which your looks like. Smart,Loyal but a PITA when it comes to retrieving. This dog has OCD. He never wants to quit. Hell bring you the smallest grain of gravel and want you to throw it. If you do,that dog will spend hours trying to find it. All day everyday. I didnt have to teach him ANYTHING about retrieving,hes just a born natural.

Im not looking for a Magical Lure at all,I just want to know what some may think. Maybe some old timers will be able to reminisce(sp?) on an old product and how they used to slay em on the bait when they were young.Some old timers may have forgotten all about a certain bait. Maybe there are some newbies on this forum who think a Senko is all there is,I put these different brand baits out there for conversations sake. If someone says that its won them lots of money,that doesnt mean I gotta go out and buy it by the truck load. KVD won the classic last year on a certain color of Redeye Shad. I dont own a single one and dont intend to either. I have never thrown Jigs and Ive been hearing things about how they catch hawgs for as long as I can remember (I remember Orlando Wilson catching huge fish on them in the 80's on his show). Did I rush out and buy a bunch? Nope,Only recently have I really put serious thought into throwing a jig,and only recently have I become the owner of any kind of jig at all.(Thanks to a couple of generous BR members) Alot of us(not including me) have ice on the lakes right now and are preparing for when it thaws,Im just trying to keep that spirit,desire,and ambition alive by making conversation about baits,I like to know what others think and experiences they have had with certain items...Whats wrong with that? Dont you from time to time read reviews on items even if you arent interested in making a purchase?

If you shopped Walmart at all,Im sure youve seen the Zebco Omniflex Mono line. Its Cheap and I suppose it gets the job done. I went to Walmart today and noticed they have a new product on the shelves. Its called Zebco Omniflex Braid. I think it was $8.00 for a spool. Anyone use it and like it? Wonder if its just Made by another company and re-labled as Zeboco Omniflex.

Locally there are only 2 stores that sell any tackle. Thats WalMart and Big 5 Sporting goods. Big 5 has some decent stuff but last year they did something very odd. The Prices were all very reasonable,and then they got a wild hair up their a** and crossed all the prices off with black marker and RAISED the prices about $2-$3 on every item. They had some Culprit Spinnerbaits for $1.99 and now they are $3.99. Bass Assassin and Robo worm baits are $5.00 a bag and Senkos are $8.00 a bag. Rapala Cranks are $11.00. They do have some decent deals on spinning combos from time to time . I will continue to get my stuff from Wally World and Ebay.

Our local K mart doesnt have a fishing section. Its all Hunting and workout stuff.

Im always waiting around for the clearance. When the prices of items gets ridiculously low,I buy a whole peg of it. They had some Kinami Flash(Senkos) on the peg for $.75 a bag and they still werent moving. I scooped up each and every one for that price.Heck they were regularly about $4.50 a bag. Some of the clearance items are really a great deal. Normally its items they arent gonna continue carrying.

Maybe ask him that with him being an up and comer and doing so well so far,how much pressure is on him trying to win another classic at such an early stage in his career? How does he feel his peers,who have been at it much longer than him, are taking to his early career success? Could this be the next KVD or Rick Clunn?

Local Bookstore has the 2011 Spring BPS catalog for sale for $5.00. I can go to the BPS website and order the exact same catalog and it wont cost me a dime. How does this bookstore justify selling this for $5.00 when its actually free directly from BPS ?
