The crazy legs on the chigger craw are somewhat intrusive in the tank test I've done.They get all wrapped up in the skirt,and sometimes block the claws fromw any action. Even considering that aspect maybe those crazy legs will help trigger strikes? If they crazy legs are too much much of a hinderance ,all I gotta do is take the crazy legs off.I do like the look of the jig with the trimmed lobster.

Ive been playing with Jigs and trailers as I think Im gonna give em a whirl this year. Pictured are identical 3/4 oz Hoppy Casting Jigs with Texas Craw skirts on both. One of the Jigs has a shortened Rage Tail Lobster in Okechobee Craw Color The other jig had the larger Chigger Crazy legs Graw,shortened in the Green Pumpkin Party Color So as far as the trailer is concerned. Are they too long,too short or just right. What about the color of the skirt and the color of the trailer how do they pair up. are the colors ok or do they contrast too much? Any suggestions on either of these. If im gonna fish jigs,I gotta know how to properly rig the trailers,with the proper length and color being important...right? So far how am I doing?

Who here fishes Jig and Trailer/Pig almost exclusively and what about this bait got you "hooked" on using it? Is it really THAT productive in certain conditions? Anyone use a Jig/Trailer/Pig as a Go To bait? I want to start trying Jigs this season and am trying get my mindset right. Are Jigs REALLY all that everyone claims they are? Ive been told "If your not fishing Jigs,your missing the boat..." Is it really THAT serious,or are other techniques more productive? I know every bait has a time and place... Where do Jigs Shine?

Not really much to brag about but this is my biggest DS Bass.This a very decent size for the lake I fish. I think where I caught it was about 15'-20' of water. It hit on the initial drop,and I was totally not expecting it.

I dont know what will. This is proof that there is something to the Trout Swimbait craze. Its not just a craze,its a fact!!!

Thats all I read when I look at magazines talking about seasonal techniques. My lake doesnt have Shad,I cant put info about Shad Migration,Shad Spawn,Schools of shad and shad boils into action like these magazines detail. There are no baitfish,only Fry and fingerlings of Bluegill,Bass and Green Sunfish in my lake. So what good does it do me to read these articles? I dont benefit if I cant put the information to use. Why arent there more articles about Crawfish,and things related to Crawfish. That information I can put to use, as theres an abundant population of craws in my home lake.

I read some fishing magazines at times and they discuss the conditions. It will be 34* air temp and 58* water temp. How does the water temp remain so much warmer than air temp?

Wave Worms makes a fluke type bait called a SHADICK. I have a few bags and they seem pretty heavy. I dont know about the buoyancy,havent tried em out. Looks sorta like a large version of a Yamamoto Shad Shape worm. http://www.wavefishing.com/6-Shadick--Black-Blue-Sapphire_p_286.html

Wave worms bait company sure does think outside the box when they design baits.I know the Tiki Monkey is supposed to be a "creature" but what kind of action is it supposed to have. It looks like a swimming retrieve would be best to get the appendages flappin. I mean if you look closely,this bait has ears and even a smiley face...Nuts! I tell you. Where can I get a spool tension knob,the washers an spring for this reel. Just picked it up on Ebay,and low and behold the knob,spring and washers are missing. Id hate to just junk this reel,cause right now its useless. It appears to be a pretty nice reel.

I read somewhere that Purple and Blue are the colors fish see best in Deep Water. Any truth to this?

Lets think about this "Arkie" jigs thing. If I recall correctly,Arkie Jigs are the Original Bass jig. Just like Creme was the first Plastic worm. Arkie Jigs have been catching toads for decades. When B.A.S.S. had its first Tourney and people were throwing Jigs,what brand do you think they were throwing? Most likely a standard Arkie,Because thats all that was probably available.How many old timers have caught double digit fish on Standard Arkie Jigs...Id like to see a show of hands please. There was an article in Bassmaster Magazine a few years back where a guy caught I believe an 18# fish on a white Jig. I specifically remember it mentioning it was an ARKIE jig. Now that customs are in the mix,you have better options,better equipment,which does make it better,but Theres stilll nothing wrong with a plain old Arkie. Paint finish,Think the fish care if the jig head has a few chips in the paint? Its almost like Comparing a Model T to a Hummer. The model T was built for transportation, no creature comforts like the Hummer. If your Hummer broke down while traveling across country,you could just as easily hop into a Model T and finish the trip.Albiet,not as comfortable or fast,but it would serve its purpose,which in the long run is to get from point a to point b. A custom built jig has all the bells and whistles,but an Arkie,plain and old a design that it has, will still catch fish.Its really the fisherman that puts the action into the bait that catches the fish.

I know this may have been covered before,but there are some that haven't heard of this tip. I hate pulling out my spinnerbaits/buzzbaits(jigs) after the winter hiatus,only to have the skirts fall off when I pick a bait up due to a weathered,dried out skirt band.There isn't a single place locally that I can buy replacement skirts.Walmart used to carry some but the only color you could get was white with the red for a "bleeding"effect. A lot of places are iced over,so while you are waiting for the ice to thaw,get some small gauge vehicular speaker wire,some wire Cutter/strippers,and maybe some needlenose pliers. All you have to is strip the insulation off the wire and take a short single strand of the wire and put it on the rubber retaining band which hold the skirt to the shank of the hook.Use the needlenose pliers to twist it and cutters to trim the end.So now if the band breaks your wire will keep the skirt from falling apart.I suggest doing this to all skirted baits right when you pull em out the package,as the retaining bands sometimes dry out and break even on the shelf in the original packaging. 6or those up north,you've got plenty of time on your hands until ice out...what are you waitin for. Get them skirted baits and get busy. I've also been told thata heavier gauge wire could be used to add subtle weight to a spinnerbait.

Ive seen the mass quanity of companies that make thier own jigs. Ive seen prices ranging from reasonable to Ridiculous(per jig) Ive never thrown Jigs so I wanted to make a purchase. Would the simple Arkie Jigs for $1.39 from Walmart work as good(if not better) than these Jigs that go for $4.00 per piece? I mean a jig is a jig...Right? If I were to take a seasoned pro who has fished Jigs exclusively,say Denny Brauer,and gave him both the Walmart ARKIE Jig and a Custom Jig,do you think he could do as well on one as the other? Does anyone take a chance at NOT catching fish because they use a cheaper priced jig?

Anyone ever heard of them? Ive heard of "POOR BOY Bait company" But not POUR BOY Bait company" Are they basically the same company with different names? The "POUR BOY" Company I am referring to is based out Poway California and the have a website: www.pourboyplastics.com which appears to be down or non existant. I just picked up 4 bags of their 10 ct 4.2 inch Meaty Beaver Baits on Ebay .These are Hand Poured as the name brand implies,and a VERY nice bait.Colors are "Xmas Purple","Pumpkin Pepper Purple Flake","Blue Raspberry" and "Midnight Fire" Id like to look into perhaps purchasing more product from them but cant find anymore info.These were the only bags the Ebay seller had,and he was based of Wisconsin.

Which does everyone prefer and do better with? Isnt the Lobster a Bit on the big side?
