  1. The Platinum Plus is what I paid for but the seller sent me a Vision Slyder
  2. The only place I have seen Megastrike products (Attractant/Cavitron Buzzbaits) is at Sportsmans Warehouse.
  3. I use MegaStrike attractant and find it builds confidence for me. If I dont have it with me,or cant find it in my tackle bag,my confidence goes way down. I just recently got a bag of the Megastrike Stick baits but havent tried it yet,im working on using up my other stickbaits first.
  4. I know people say that A Palomar Knot isnt ideal for Fluorocarbon line.I cant understand this because when people dropshot, isnt this the knot thats normally always tied for the bait? Ive heard the San Diego Jam Knot is one of the better knots for FC. Its pretty simple to tie, hows it hold up under actual use? What about the Double San Diego Jam knot? Anyone else use this one with success? Lastly theres a knot I found on Youtube and it claims to have 100% knot strength. But will it work for FC? anyone know what this knot is called?
  5. So I have heard about the + series from Manns.Like a 10+ would dive 10+ feet. What are the Minus series of baits, how does the - get incorporated in with the number?
  6. Looks close enough to me. seems pretty uncommon too. Thanks for the heads up. Your knowledge of Vintage baits is amazing!!!
  7. Its as seen in the pic. Multi colored,no distinguishable features. Says "Made in Finland" in script on the diving lip. I know this IS NOT a Rapala or a Flatfish...What is it,who makes it and how old is it? Thanks
  8. I know this has been brought up before, but since im new to throwing crankbaits,I want to find out what everyones personal favorite is in a crankbait. I just dont know why but im stuck on the Bomber/Bill Dance Fat Free Shad Family. I dont know if its because thats the first crank I threw and had success with or if its the different sizes for different applications these baits offer, but I just love em. I have caught 1 fish on a Tennesse Shad colored Strike King series 4,but the Fat Free Shad family just gets it for me,at this point in my early crankbait experience.
  9. Not sure the tip action. I do know that when I cast the tip wiggles as the line goes out. Would that be considered a fast action tip?
  10. Im not stationed at Ft Huachuca I grew up in Sierra Vista and thats where I currently reside. So it was choked with vegetation way back then too? No doubt theres some good spots to fish, but the vegetation makes it tough and very discouraging. My TM gets fouled up like you wouldnt believe on this lake.No outboards over 8hp are allowed on this lake.
  11. Im using a 7' MH Berkley Lightning Rod with a BPS XPS Pro Qualifier 5:1 ratio reel. Im throwing the baits on 10# Mono. Could be that im sitting down when im fishing why I might feel its a bit of a chore when cranking?
  12. Explored the Deep Cranking realm a little more yesterday. Put a Marker Buoy on the end of a point and cast towards the marker. Was throwing a series 4 SK crank in Tennessee Shad and on only the 2nd cast I hooked up with a fish. No size at all to it but it got me pumped. I know a series 4 isnt considered deep,so I decided to throw my Fat Free Shad. Wouldnt ya know it,on the retrieve I hooked into my buoy line so I figured I just screwed my spot up,went else where so I could let that area cool off in case I spooked the fish. I threw a series 6 SK crank a little yesterday too. It had a little more resistance than the series 4 but was bearable. The Fat Free Shad was bearable too. What I got all confused about was my Luhr Jensen Deep Secret. Its a 1/4 oz bait and is supposed to be easy on cranking because of its size, will dive to 15 ft + and that little bait will just wear you out compared to the larger ones.
  13. Whew!! I thought it was just me. I have so much tackle its unbelievable. I scour Ebay all the time, looking for bargains. 25 bags of Zoom worms for $.50... Sold!!! Do I need all those Zoom worms...No, but I wont be running out any time soon. I have totes of extra tackle in bags stashed in a Station wagon in the carport. I buy assorted lots(different bags of bait all in one sale). I take what I want from them, and sell the rest so I can make more money to buy more stuff. I have so much tackle in my 10' Jon Boat, its not funny. I have 3 16 qt containers "filled" with bags of soft plastics. One contains Senkos and other stick baits,1 contains Creatures and 1 contains just worms. Then theres the Plano organizers. I have probably 8 on the boat with me. 1 for hooks,1 for weights,1 for deep cranks,1 for shallow cranks and ultralight poppers,1 for jitterbugs and jigs. I have 3 different Mepps Killer kits on board with me. 2 buoy markers and a crawfish trap.7 poles, each rigged with a different bait. I also have a tackle bag in which I carry extra reels, spools of line my boat registration, tools and more bags of soft plastics. Ive told my wife I need a bigger boat!! I always try to hit clearance sales when they are going to discontinue items. I take my wife into BPS and ask her or the kids to help me look for the "red tag" items(clearance)My wife has grown to dislike BPS. But I just gotta go as there isnt one around my area. Closest one is in Tempe,3 hours away from me. My wife hates when the mailman comes cause shell see me pull a package out of the mailbox and just cringe. I sometimes find stuff on clearance and buy lets say 20 bags of a bait that isnt going to be carried by the store anymore cause they are selling at $.10 a bag. I really should try to sell some of it to recoup some $$$ and purchase more, different items, but I just hang on to it. I broke an entry level rod just this evening and I couldnt help but smile. This just gives me a reason to buy a new rod. Isnt it GREAT!!! Oh anyone have an aquarium? Do you test your baits out in it to see what kind of action it has?
  14. Ya know its crazy. I purchased a Pinnacle Platinum Plus LP100C on Ebay. I get the package in the mail and inside of it is a Pinnacle Vision Slyder. The guy had another auction for the Platinum Plus LP100C and it sold to someone else. I guess the guy must've seen the word "Pinnacle" on the package of this second reel(The Slyder) and advertised it as being the same as the other Platinum Plus he had sold previously. Paid $15 for the reel and $8 for shipping. The reel was new in the package. SCORE!!! Listing to the auction I won. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270616973086#ht_500wt_957
  15. Does a 10 lb bag of flour make a really big biscuit...?
  16. That helps alot(Thanks) some of those spots are just choked with dense milfoil, which makes it that much more difficult.
  17. I got this map awhile ago and wanted to know if anyone experienced with reading lake maps could analyze/dissect this map for me. What are your first impressions of this lake just by scoping out the map. What are some areas on the map to focus on when trying to find fish in this lake. First impression I get is that its deep, and has lots of very vertical drops all around.
  18. I just purchased a reel on Ebay. Its a Pinnacle Vision Slyder. I know the little wheel is perfect for finesse applications...Thats a no brainer. I was wondering about the gear ratio. Its a 7.0:1 ratio. Would this be a good spinnerbait reel? What about small cranks? What application is this ratio really ideal for? Anyone else have this reel? Can anyone give me some personal reviews of it?
  19. Im not talking about his ability to catch fish,im talking about just how effortless his retrieve is on a deep crank.
  20. Deep cranking,I gave it a try yesterday and after a short amount of time I was done. I was using a 5:1 ratio reel 10# test and a MH 6'6" rod. It was just alot of work. I tried slowing my retieve down and it was still a difficult task. Im just not used to it. How does this guy make it look so effortless? Wonder what ratio his reel is and what rod he is using. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCmiinlVIlc
  21. Are they really THAT good???
  22. Lately theres been a few good shows dealing with huge fish. I dont know how much more one can show than the other. They all seem to always profile the same fish. River Monsters: http://animal.discovery.com/tv/river-monsters/ Fish Warrior: http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/fish-warrior Man vs Fish: http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-schedules/series.html?paid=1.14710.25883.36553.x Monster Fish: http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/monster-fish/all/Overview Hooked: http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/hooked/all/Overview
  23. Anyone ever fished these with success? Do they run true,Do they have decent action? Are they durable? Do they catch fish? Im asking because the price point on some is like $2 and some change on each.Im kinda skeptical about them and would like to know if they are any good. Thanks
  24. As far as I know its a discontinued bait(I could be wrong). Heres some info about the bait: http://www.sportfishingbc.com/articles/tackle_reviews/deep.htm
