I was at my 8 year old Nieces Birthday Party This evening. Everyone got some goody bags. Inside the "boys" goody bags were these soft platic roach looking things that had loop on the head. The idea was to put the loop on your finger,stretch the body and let it go like a sling shot. The minute I felt that soft plastic,I thought of a soft plastic Bait. The wheels were turning on how I could make a mold and pour my own. My wife couldnt help but shake her head. I gotta find out where these things were purchased for the party so I can get more and experiment with them to make a bait out of them.

If im not mistaken,the Bait Bobby Lane is trying to sell is nothing more than a Chigger Craw after thanksgiving. The claws and the little legs look like they came from the Chigger Craw and the body,well its just been fattened up. The Twin Tail Grub,Well thats a no brainer. Look how many different companies make this bait,put em all side by side,and by only looking at them I bet you couldnt tell em apart. I like the sales Pitch Ike gave,not over the top,pretty subtle,not in your face GRRR attitude.Ike seems to explain things very well. Seems like hed be a great teacher. Skeet Reese. "This is the nuts" What kind of terminology is that? Never heard of it.Some parts of his sales pitch you cant even understand what he says. Or is it just me? Skeet needs to stick to his fishing,and not do commercials,unless he gets a coach on how to enunciate his words better in front of the camera. Heck maybe he got all caught up in the excitement trying to hype the bait up,and stumbled a few words.

Really a cheesy advertisement. These guys are trying to throw attitude,and its just a Farce. Im not buying into the hype. Skeet "I designed it" Reese. Good for you,you designed a bait. Put your money where your mouth is and win some tourneys with it and then you can gloat about designing it. These guys just cant put the attitude factor over on people,its not their true persona. All fake.

Ive read about the Sexy Spoon designed by KVD. I know Lake Fork Tackle has their own version. Some companies are jumping on the bandwagon and designing their own spoon. A lure that has been around for decades in the Salmon fishing world,and now these companies that are creating them for the first time and labeling it "The next best thing in bass fishing." Lets say I want to drag a T rig or C rig or a jig on the bottom. How can this possibly be done when fishing down hill? I mean you are sitting a certain distance from the bank,and lets say the water your throwing into is 2 feet and the water your boat is siting in is 12 ft. Your only gonna have so much line out and on the retrieve your bait will lose contact with the bottom,theres no way around that fact(or is there). By taking the bait off the bottom,are you moving the bait out of the strike zone?. Seems to me the only way to fish a bait that you want to have maintain contact with the bottom and in the strike zone,is to fish Uphill...Am I right?

It's $10.00 for the trout stamp. I don't bother with it either. Yeah well I went ahead and bit the bullet on the Trout Stamp this year,after I had a run in with a Warden that told me that even though I was Bass Fishing,I needed a Trout Stamp because the waters are stocked with Trout. So according to the Warden,If there are Trout stocked in the water youre fishing,you need a Trout Stamp even though you are targeting a different species.

Just purchased mine this past weekend. I got the "3 fer" Super Conservation deal. Its a General License,Trout Stamp and an Urban License(For fishing lakes within the more metropolitan areas,Tucson and Phoenix). It ran $53. If Purchased them separate it would have run me $58 and Id have to carry 2 different licenses(Urban and General) and have a separate Trout stamp on the back of the General License. How does the cost of my state' license compare to yours?

We all hear about Megastrike and JJ's. Ive used Megastrike and I like it alot.While it will turn watery when in the heat,a few minutes in a cooler with ice,and its almost totally solid and very user friendly again. JJ's, for me, is a little bit tougher to manage. It has to be kept cool, and in a separate container. Can wreak havoc if spilled and isnt compatible with all plastics. Not saying JJ's isnt good,but thats my take on it. That being said,I was wondering about other Attractants. Anyone use Pro-Cure? Ive read where people will coat their Swimbaits with the "Trout" Formula to enhance their swimbait bite when Bass Fishing,making the bait smell and taste like Trout.

I hear ya. I have gotten solid bites while fishing the weeds,(line started swimming away),set the hook,Felt the struggle and worked my butt off to get the 10#s of weeds back to the boat. Looked and looked,and there wasnt even a fish in all that mess. Guess thats fishin for ya.

I dont doubt that some have confidence in them,but like I said I always thought Storm swimbaits were childs play. I havent had too much luck on a swimbait. So far the only one I have gotten a bite on is a Huddelston Shad,of course I wasnt expecting it and the fish came unbuttoned. So I might say thats my favorite(as of right now)

Storm???!!! Is this a reputable bait? I was always under the impression that their soft bodied swimbaits were like childs play.

I understand this bait sits upright on the bottom with a "head down" attitude,like its feeding. Can anyone whos used this bait confirm this? If this is the case,wouldnt this bait be good on the beds? Watchin some videos online and came across a scenario that is really similatr to the lake I fish. Thick,Deep,Heavy Mifoil. Please tell me some of you have fished thick stuff like in this video and had success like the guys in this video. I look at this stuff when im on the water and just cant fathom fishing it. Its SOOO Dense. How do fish get around in this stuff.Very intimidating According to the catches in this video,ive been passing up on LOTS of opportunities at decent fish by not fishing the "junk". True?. Is it safe to say that in the heat of summer,that most of the dinks will be caught in open water,because thats all I fish and thats all I catch.

Man o man those 3" DS worms from Berkley have seriously saved the day for me. I also used the 3" Power Pulse Drop Shot worm as well. Yeah they are dink magnets. I killed a 100ct bag of those 3" DS worms in one season. Caught every species in the lake. Shellcracker(Redear), Hybrid Sunfish,Bluegill,LMB and even Trout. I miss those worms.

Ah Ha...So that tells me you all have the same frame of mind as I do. When I get into a bad day of fishing,where it seems like nothing will bite,I do resort to a Dropshot and can almost always at least get bit,but It has saved the day many times. Now im not afraid to admit that when I cant catch Bass,I switch it up and go after Panfish(Green Sunfish are a hoot on light tackle). I Gotta take a break from time to time when the fish arent biting,and when I do I search for Crawdads. Hook em correctly to keep em alive and kickin by inserting a long shank hook in the "horn" between the eyes without "blowing it out"(cracking and destroying that membrane) then fish em weightless and hang on!! This can be a real fun way to save a day.The craw will swim to the bottom and you can leave a slack line,but watch it like a hawk. Ive had the pole almost pulled into the water when I wasnt paying attention. A way to keep the craws from dgging in under rocks and stuff is to snip off the claws. Never tried it? Give it a shot,its a hoot.

Whats everyones last resort when your facing a skunk day. I mean something you absolutely ,positively know you can throw and get fish in the boat? Mine would have to be a Dropshot.
