  1. Thanks Kevin! Think I've finally found my mojo!
  2. Took an extended lunch today and hit Black Hills again. Surprisingly, I ran into KenLattimore when I first got there! Good to see you again Ken! Hope you caught a few before you had to go! It didn't initially start off to be an extended lunch but I got into a good bunch of fish! Started off catching a 14.5 inch crappie, followed up with a 1 pound largemouth. After that, I hooked into a good bass that hooked the lipless crank I was using on a log and it got off. That's when I decided it was time to extend lunch. I tied on another lipless crank and started fan casting the area. Caught a 3-3, a 1-8, then I landed my biggest of the outing which went 4-4 and measured 21 1/4 inches! Managed one more that went 20 inches. I didn't get a weight on that one because she inhaled the crank and one of the trebles caught her in the gill. Estimated total weight of the 5 bass was around 13 1/2lbs. The trick today was to barely brush the bait against the wood. When the bait came off, they'd hammer it! All the fish were in roughly 3' (MAYBE 4') or less. Here's a couple of pic's of 2 of the bigger ones I landed.
  3. LOL 301! I lived in Frederick for quite a few years as well and never knew until monday. A co-worker of mine fished there, and he's definitely a rookie when it comes to bass fishing. The one he caught at somewhere between 17-18". Now its been a while since I've been down at Baker park but I believe it's the "pond" called color lake that's technically behind Frederick High and adjacent to Baker park itself. Hope that makes sense!
  4. Hi Ricky, If memory serves me correct, there are/were a few anglers that post on this thread. I know there's a ton of pages right now but you may want to sift through the pages to see "who's who" that's close to you. Maybe some of the guys on here that are in clubs could point you in the right direction as well!
  5. Welcome again Bill! A few places you can try out that's near you as well that you can fish from shore. Cunningham Falls, the pond in the park at Middletown, the pond at Baker park (I JUST found out there are bass in there) just to name a few. Scroll back through the pages, or I'm sure some others will chime in as well on other places nearby. I made it out again at lunch today. Popped over to Black Hills again. Checked the water temp this time, I about passed out when I read the temp at 58! Keep in mind this was a shoreline reading in the sun but still! I managed another small one on a spinnerbait. I was surprised on how dirty the water still is. Definitely call the water I was fishing stained! I may have had a foot of visibility.
  6. Welcome to THE boards Bill! The thread I created in the NE section was just what Brian has mentioned, to share info and get to know everyone in MD! There are several great anglers that post in the MD Who's who thread fairly regular that are in the Frederick, Washington and Montgomery county area.
  7. I'm looking to get my hands on the 7'2" model for froggin. I saw one on ebay as well but missed the boat on picking it up.
  8. Glad to see ya back on the boards 301! Hang in there with Black Hills! I believe its going to start picking up as long as these temps stay where they are!
  9. Awesome post Kevin! Glad to see some toothy critter action for ya! I've never had much luck early in the season with muskies (probably because I'm focused on largemouths, lol). That's something I'll definitely have to do this year since I never even wetted any line for them last year. Keep up the great posts and pics!!!
  10. Nice Smallie Allen! Like Nate, I'm waiting on my stickers too to get out on the water as well!
  11. LOL Eric! No, fortunately not. Actually, I have another spot that I'm within 5 minutes of the lake from my apartment. Makes for a quick evening outing after work rather easy.
  12. Yeah, I'm really lucky! Its 10 minutes total from parking lot to parking lot where I went today.
  13. Had the chance to check them out last week when I was out with another BR member that got some. Was really impressed with how soft they are as well. I'll be adding some to my arsenal as well.
  14. Agreed! It's time to get out of there! There's plenty of sunshine and the bass are even starting to bite for me! Popped over to Black Hills at lunch today. Went to the stick ups to wet some line and managed to finally get on the board this year! Caught a little 1 pounder on a black and blue jig with a baby paca craw trailer. That one hit in about 3-4' tight again a lay down log. Missed another one (on the same bait) out deeper. Counted that one down to about 10'. Hit in the same place, tight against another lay down.
  15. Welcome to THE boards Tyler! Wow! Sleepy creek isn't a name I've heard in several years! I used to fish it on and off. Never really done well size wise there. Haven't really done well at the power plant in Williamsport in a couple years either. Water levels were either crazy high or just the opposite or there's been 9200 other anglers tryin to fish that small stretch.
  16. These popped up on Tackle Warehouse the other day. Has anyone used these yet? Specifically looking for feedback on the 7'2" MHXF. Was thinking about getting this for a frog rod.
  17. Not sure if this will help or not but here's a river gauge that I've been tracking that has temps included: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/md/nwis/uv?site_no=01646500
  18. If this is going to be the "theme" for this year, then I'm picking the next spot we fish!!! I need all the help I can get to get my mojo back! LOL
  19. You can't see the pics? Guess all the albino bass I caught in that blizzard yesterday caused the pics to wash out. Got the big old goose egg yesterday, actually for the whole year so far. I'm in a major slump and not sure how to get myself out of it yet. One of these times I'll actually catch something! Told Brian when we were out that I may have to go back to a worm and bobber. LOL
  20. Welcome to THE boards Monocacy!
  21. Nice job Lee! Good to see you getting some action. Once again, awesome write up Kevin!
  22. Another one that prefers not using a plastic trailer the majority of the time. Like J and a others mentioned, I use a trailer hook (1/0 as well) about 99% of the time). The rare occasions I do use a plastic trailer is in heavy stained to muddy water. I do this to add a little more bulk to the bait as well as a little more vibration. That said, I'm using a bulky 4-5" single tail grub.
  23. Hit Dickerson C&O this morning. The majority of the canal looked pretty much like chocolate milk but surprisingly, I found some cleaner water. Pretty slow outing, had one hit on a Senko and that's all. Looks like the weather will warm up some this week so a lunch time outing here or there might be in the cards. Anyone else make it out this weekend?
  24. Hey Lee, For me, I seem to struggle for some reason entering October (happens every year for some reason) but I had managed to catch a few here and there Oct, Nov and Dec. I've been shut down so far this year but have only been out a handful of times. At the end of last year, my bass came out of the C&O canal (if memory serves me right). Hopefully, things will start picking up for me again shortly, it does help the days are getting longer so evening outings will be more of a reality!
  25. I know Musky Innovations designed rods specifically for the Bull Dawgs. One of my buddies has one for throwing the Magnums. Here's a link for them: http://www.muskytales.com/acatalog/Musky_Innovations_Rods_rods.html
