after fishing soft plastics and jigs with my loomis imx for about a week for some reason I picked up my old 7 ft MH rod and fished for a few minutes. It was no longer acceptable. There is no comparison get an avid or better and get a great warranty and a great rod.

IMHO I think a fast action rod helps because, when you twitch the bait you dont get as much rod flex and the slack line will get to the bait faster giving the fluke a living, darting,running scared action. This is the bait that always saved the day for me when nothing else was working. I fished it on a 6ft medium St. Croix with a Fast Action (Premier). I am going to try the new giant fluke zoom has on the market now when the weather permits.

I have one that looks killer it is the chartruse one that blends to a dark violet back. They are about twice as fat as a baby 1 (width). Mine says dives to 3ft. on the bill.

I am not a 100% sure but this appears to be an exposed hook type jig head. The weedless ones have a wire screw or molded lead keeper comming out of the jig head at an angle some what pointing at the hook point. Hope this helps.

Check out the new pflueger president on the pflueger fishing web site. ( although I dont think you can purchase directly off the site) Good price good reel. If you seek lighter weight magnesium body check out the pflueger supreme, this might be pushing your budget but a great reel none the less.

I have the Shaw Grigsby sig model and it is smooth and casts a mile. I vote good reel

Just curious I have recently reintroduced my self to spinning rods & reels. I used them when I was a kid 30 yrs ago. But when I started fishing again after a few long breaks off and on through the years somehow . I taught myself to cast a bait caster and never really learned how to cast a spinning reel on the same level. Now I am learning there are many benefits to spinning combos (thanks to this site re energizing me to fish on another level) OK |OK here is the question can you learn to cast a spinning combo as accurate as a bait-caster??? skno
