  1. Remember to jerk it on semi-slack line--this will make it go side to side more erratically. If you jerk with tight line you tend to make the bait "pull". You should here a little "slap" on the water from your line when you pop it. Kind of like a spook, if you have your line too tight, it doesn't walk as well---same thing with the jerkbait.
  2. [quote author The kid had it made and threw it all away. In my book that makes him a slacker and a dummy. And as for Kerouac, he too was a slacker. Don't know enough about him to comment on his level of asshattery.
  3. I think he was far from being a slacker. He worked for everything he had!!! He didn't have a typical "job", as his job was to keep living. Not many slackers would go searching for answers the way he did. He actually took action and didn't just sit and talk his philosophies, he lived them. He was also far from being a dummy. Trying to find some sort of meaning in life and having the "onions" to go after it, does not make you a dummy. Also, graduating from Emory College is no easy task. That's like saying Jack Karouac was a slacker and a dummy.
  4. I used their list as WHAT to use---if no-one is using them anymore, isn't that a reason TO use them!! I'll die with a spinnerbait tied on!!!
  5. It should, but if it doesn't you should be able to claim it on your home owners or renters insurance.
  6. This is just for my sanity---do you think a Loc-R-Bar could've prevented them from getting in?? I'm curious because I just had one installed, thinking it would prevent this or at least make them go to someone else's boat that doesn't have one. Sorry that happened to you. I would be in mourning if my stuff was stolen!! :'( :'( :'(
  7. Just saw this last night---WOW what a great movie (never read the book)!!! It's about a kid that graduates from Emory College and is fed-up with his parents and society. He decides to leave everything behind to live off the land in Alaska. It's kind of 'On the Road' meets 'Call of the Wild'. Great flick!!
  8. Easy solution.Just don't buy it in the first place : there are literally thousands of ways to catch bass without dealing with that crap. (sorry just my .02) X2!! They say it easier to take care of than live bait---that's horse crap. As soon as you open it, it dries out or it stinks everything up. I don't care if it catches fish, that crap sucks!!
  9. That, unfortunately, is very true!!!
  10. It took a LONG time for us to get that C&R season too!!! That's only a couple years old. Unfortunately, on Oneida (my home lake), the C&R season doesn't start until the first Saturday in May because of those darn Walleye guys cryin'!!!! it isn't the Walleye guys, its the OLA; http://blog.syracuse.com/outdoors/2009/03/poll_whats_your_thoughts_on_on.html. The OLA was speaking for, and made up of, the 'cryin' Walleye guys' who were worried about people going out and poaching Walleyes. My problem with that has always been, what about the perch fisherman out there during this time. They're using live bait and fishing in the same areas as the walleye and no-one is worried about them poaching!!
  11. IMHO: Fist, local/club tournaments don't draw a lot of outside attention, therefore companies don't get any "bang for their buck" and don't want to spend time and money on supporting a fisherman with such limited exposure. Also, because you do well against the local guys doesn't mean that you will stack up against a larger pool of fisherman. This isn't a knock on your talent, but something to consider. Secondly, no offense intended, just a small slice of reality--Why would a company put their efforts into supporting a 16 old kid. Not many fisherman, especially seasoned tourney fisherman, would put much credence in what a 16 old kid is saying about a specific bait. Again, making the returns for a company very minimal. Lastly, you really don't need sponsor money to fish the Federation, BFL, or the Weekend Series, which should be your next step. Although additional monies would help, these series are designed to make it possible to fish without this need. I would suggest you fish those series and see how you stack up against those fisherman. If you stand out among them, you will start to gain some exposure and be able to use that as leverage for gaining sponsorship. In short, keep fishing and don't spend your time chasing sponsors!!
  12. You couldn't be more correct!!! They called Bobby Lane and Steve Kennedy rookies when they joined BASS and they've been killing on the FLW trail for years. These "rookies" have been fishing Opens, Federation, or other trails for a long time. I view them as rookies on the Elite Tour, but they are not a true rookie in the sport by any means!!
  13. I don't know the official reason, but I wonder if it was a safety issue. Two guys in a bass boat with rods over 8 feet could get a little scary!!
  14. The peroxide trick was very interesting!!
  15. It took a LONG time for us to get that C&R season too!!! That's only a couple years old. Unfortunately, on Oneida (my home lake), the C&R season doesn't start until the first Saturday in May because of those darn Walleye guys cryin'!!!!
  16. I forgot to add my picks: Louisville-Pitt-Memphis-NC Pitt wins it all.
  17. A buddy of mine swears by GM rods. He's a walleye fisherman so I'm not sure if he can be trusted , but he uses them exclusively.
  18. Now that everyone has filled out their bracket sheet---"for entertainment purposes only!!"" What is your Final Four and your pick to win it all??
  19. I've used this line for years and I know a lot of you do to. What does the P stand for?? I'm bored at work and these types of dumb questions pop into my head from time to time!!
  20. I don't think anyone on here says the color didn't work. It's just that some of us are tired of hearing that it is some magical color that fish just can't pass up. It's just a color and should be added to your arsenal, but it's no better or worse than any other color. As far as the name--I liked it at first, but when the rip-offs started coming out, it got a bit ridiculous!
  21. I'm thinking more along the lines of sponsorship rather than the actual fishing part of it. They don't seem to be adding any additional monies to the circuit. Some of the sponsors renewed, but not many new ones came aboard. It seems to me that FLW is gaining steam with the business aspect while maintaining a good place for the anglers, which I think in the long run will translate to a better circuit. This may get some of the BASS stars to move over. I'm not saying this will happen next year, but I think this is a possibility down the road.
  22. I saw there are rumors that FLW is going to pick up another big sponsor or two--one of them might be Cabela's. It seems that FLW is moving ahead in these tough times, rather than moving behind or being stagnant like BASS. With what seems like a better business plan, I think in the long run FLW will become more and more the premier league. Any thoughts?
  23. Finally something good happens to my hometown!!! What a great game!! If Paul Harris could have dropped a couple of his lay-up chances it might not have gone into 6 OT's, but we pulled out the win regardless!! They're going to be dragging in tonight's game, hope they can gather some energy and pull out a win. This gives us good momentum going into the NCAA tourney. Go 'Cuse!!!
  24. He was also third in the league in dropped passes in '08. He's 35 and no corner back fears him any more. Let him go home and bench press in the drive-way.
  25. Anybody tried any type of HI-SEAS line? Opinions??
