My son's new swimbait.
Cute! I thought that only in CA did they throw bait bigger than themselves?

Curly tailed worms
Texas rig will be the most popular. Also using it on a jig head is also popular

Texas Rig Worm versus Jig
This is great. From jigging spoons to swim baits. I think the general consensus is low and slow. Except for the lipless crank. I'd probably throw a jig with a basic trailer, not too much action. Followed by a slow rolled lipless crank.

Maybe all us northern should move south. No, cause then we'd have to ;listen to the southern boys sayin' the waters too crowded. :'(

Tubes
Most of the time ity is rigged with a jig head shoved up inside or on a texas rig. The jig head allows for an open hook. That is fine in sparse cover. the texas rig is better for thicker cover. Try rigging one with one of those little internal weights you can buy and use it like a jerk bait. My favorite all around color would have to be grn/pump with purple and copper flake.

Mod Podge vs. Engine Enamel
Thanks for the info. Regarding the epoxy thinned with alcohol: what type of epoxy do you use and how thin do you make it by adding the alcohol? I assume you are talking about isopropyl alcohol and not denatured alcohol? And finally, do you brush the epoxy on the mold or do you wash the mold with it like the Elmers glue and water? The stuff you can get at any home improvement store that comes in the two part syringe will work. Get the 30 min hard finish. I don't remember the name of it off the top of my head. I just brush it on with a hobby brush. Be carefull to spread it out thin and do three thin coats. the isopropyl alcohol is fine. I have alos used acetone to thin it. I make it thin enough to brush on easy. I have a ratio wrote down at home. You can just eyeball it. Not as thin as water but not as thick as syrup. hope that helps.

Fishing jerks
Reading these reminded me of a time where I fishing a point sitting in 10' casting to 3'. Throwing a jerkbait and was catching fish. This is what i call bent pole syndrome. This guy was fishing towards us at a very slow pace. When he got close enough to see us catching a few fish, he throws the TM on high and boogies right in front of us. Mind you I am pretty stationary where i am. He is traveling 25 yds in front of us right across the point at the shallow area I was casting to. He asked if we were doing any good. I said we were until now. He fires back with "public water, don't own the spot, blah blah blah". We proceed to fish in silence for five or so minutes and I get tired of his presence, so I start throwing at the side of his boat as it was sitting in the spot I was casting to prior to his arrival. On the second cast I hook a 4 and he is fuming. Next cast is a 3 and I am culling. He moves to the right a little to where I can get to my spot which is 10' behind his boat and whack a 4.5. With this he starts to leave and i tell him to have a nice day. Later at the weigh in he files a protest and says I was fishing too close too HIM!! It was a all I could do to maintain my composure. I explained the incident and was witnessed by another boat. He was banned from fishing with that trail again. Bad thing was he had a rep of doing that type of thing to other people. He knew he was doing it. Why are some people like that. Maybe he enjoys that, I have no clue. I was glad to take his money that day.

Mod Podge vs. Engine Enamel
You can use enamel paint but you may lose some detail. Modge podge will work, but do multiple coats. ALso can use a 50/50 mix of Elmers glue and water. Flood the cavity and then wait 30 seconds. Drain and repeat. You can also use two part epoxy thinned with alcohol. This gives the best finish IMO.

Good day casting in the yard!
"Cat" fishing is great amusement. Paint a practice weight grey and tie a feather on the end. Game on! I had a red tail hawk go after it once until he saw me. That would have been a fight! Great post .ghoti
