Leader or no Leader?
X2 The only time I use a leader on braid is when fishing gin clear water. I NEVER use a leader flipin and pitching in heavy cover. That is basically a reaction bite your looking for. What I will do is take a sharpie and color the braid in segments to break it up.

I will use something similar in a practice type situation, but direct tie in tourny.

Good day casting in the yard!
I throw in the yard every year. Gets the arm back in shape. Winter has a way of letting you get soft on the casting and reeling muscles. The southern brothern don't have that problem. I will even throw the night before a tourny after I get my rods rigged. Just to make sure everything is adjusted properly. I'm waiting for the ice to be gone also.

Changing treble hooks?
I keep a small plano box in the boat with split rings, different sizes and differnt colors of trebles, suspend dots and strips, etc. That is my hardbait modification box. There will be times when the bait that is wackin' them need some tlc.
