  1. I consider it a win if I plan to spend a $100 and it ends up under $200! 8-) Amen! Beleive it or not that happens more when my wife goes with me. She's in cahoots with the owner and he will tell her to "show himthis or that". That usually indiactes a large monkey has been breaking my L5 and needs to be fed.
  2. I put a 1.5 oz knocker w/chains on 80# power pro spooled up on an old reel and rod handle. Works great and you just hop it a couple of times and reel it in!

I just started tinkering with this just this fall. What do you use for the base?
  4. Here is what I wouldhave rigged off the top of my head. 1. Lipless crankbait on braided line med/hvy rod 7'. You can cover water with this in any part of the lake. 2. Senko weightless texas rigged 14# flouro line med/hvy rod. Throw this around the weed beds or any other cover you're around. 3. Mojo rig w/trick worm junebug 14# flouro med rod Same areas as the senko. 4. small texas rig baby brush hog 3.16 oz sinker 14# flouro med rod throw this anywhere. Keep in mind the night before the tourny you will have a chance to talk to your pro and find out a general idea on what he will be doing. You cna rerig if needed. Also do some research on the internet and find out what are the prevailing patterns for that time of year.
  5. We will never win the war, just small battles. You know, when we plan to spend $100 and only spend $99.
  6. The RC .5 is about the same size as the Griffon. The 1.5 is a great size crank. They both work well around wood and rock(rip rap). You get them at BPS in Clarksville. You know where that is right?
  7. Maybe the scent thing might be easier. Take two rods and cast to the ame area. Scent one bait and not the other. Which ever gets more bites. Just an idea. Good luck. I don't know if that would be "challenging" enough.
  8. I think mine is way beyond a fever. I tried to go fihing in the brides bath water and that didn't turn out too well.
  9. It can also be cold. Don't think that because it's Florida you can wear shorts. It could be in the 30s as easily as the 80s that time of year. I was talking about the fishing. If it's 30 deg the fishing will be cold too.
  10. I think you would have to hang on if you threw Skeet Reese into wood, even if his hair was chartruese and he was drinking rootbeer.
  11. Man, you're killin' me. Bet you haven't made a snowman lately. LOL

    Welcome.
  13. As soon as the ice is gone. Around mid to late March.
  14. Megabass Griffon SR-X in Killer Pink!!!!!! Now that I think about it I might delete this post.
  15. I am very new to this site and LOVE IT!!!! It is nice to get information and ideas from like minded people. I have learned a lot and also found out that I didn't know as much as I thought. There is such a wealth of info here it is unreal. THANK YOU to all of the people that make this site what it is. Thank you to all the members that are willing to help and answer questions. That is huge when you stop and think about it.

    Welcome.
  17. X2 I've been using the bobber stops for 4 years and like the qualities that come with it. When a fish is tail dancing that bobber stop slides up the line and the weight can slide also.
  18. X2 Also use 12# for general fishing.
  19. I'm sure that we all had a time when a closet full of fishing stuff was big time stuff. It used to be easy to decide what to take as I could carry all of it in one hand, including the rod. Relish your position because someday you will have to decide what to take and leave the one thing you know would've worked at home.
  20. Welcome. I lived in WPB for 6 years back in the late 80s.
  21. It is a random draw. Regardless of who you get paired with it will be a learning experience. Most of those guys in that trail are very experienced anglers you can learn from. What I did after the day was over was to log things down as to what happened during the day. That way if you ever go back you can refer to that at that time. Early spring in FL can be hot. I hope you have stable weather.
  22. I would go woth a little larger than a 30. I second what Garnet said. I had a 12' semi V with a 42 and there were times when I wished it was a 50 or more. You may get a little bigger one than you think.
