My hook of choice, is the weighted Moaner Stick'R hook. Baby Craw gets the 3/0, and I generally like about 1/4oz up to 3/8oz for Rage Rigging.

You can fish it anyway you want. I've used a Rage-Rigged bait deadsticking, all the way to burning it on top, and everything in between. I find it most useful when I'm fishing shallow grass. Like a Senko, a vast majority of your bites will come on the fall when fishing it slow, and while slow rolling it along a weedline when you work it like a swim jig. Being weedless makes for a good go-anywhere search bait, also. I agree, it's one rig you must have in your repertoire.

I don't always fish ribbon tail worms, but when I do...It's a 10" Anaconda or Recon. Great for fishing deep.

My favorite color, is Blue Craw, with just a tiny fleck of Chartreuse on the end of the tail usually. Probably my favorite rig with it, is Rage-Rigged, buuuut, I do use it a lot Tx rigged, weightless, and it's one of my favorite baits to drop shot.

Yup, they do, and that tail adds extra movement and water displacement.

Jig trailer, Tx rigged, Rage Rigged, C-rigged, punch rig, weightless Tx rig. Very versatile, and catches the snot out of em.

Thanks, Gulf. I will be painting the hooks on them. I have 4 of these baits, 2 ROF 12's and 2 ROF 5's. I'm going to rig one of each with the trap hook, and leave the other two without it, that way I can feel them out for myself, and use the one that best suits me for speed of retrieve, etc. I do know this for sure, the first fish that dies on me, and the traps are gone. I'd rather lose a fish, than kill a fish.

Both ways have a time and a place. 90% of the time, I got it on horizontally, however, a vertical rigging will give a quicker fall, and also a bit more of a fishy profile.

I've never fished an 8 before. But I don't wanna miss any fish, so that's why I'm doing the mod. From what I've heard, it accounts for at least half of the hookups.

Looking to get a few Hudds rigged up, and had a couple questions. What is your preferred 80lb mono for the harness, and where do I find the double barrel crimps needed? Thanks!

While I do like the Dream Shot, I agree, it catches me a lot of smaller fish. Stepping up to a Baby Craw (usually Pearl or Blue Craw) or a Cut'R (bite off an inch or 2), nose hooked, gets my bigger fish.

The Bug is great no matter how you rig it. For punching, rig it on a heavy wire 4/0-5/0, and peg your weight on braided line.

One of the deadliest tools in my arsenal for smallies in the rivers, is a Baby Craw on a Shakey head.

I fish rivers all year, and find that drop shots, jigs, and sometimes suspending jerk baits will get it done no matter how cold the water is.
