I love 'em! slow rolled, wake bait, steady retrieve, or used like a jig, all have caught lots of fish for me. I stick a Baby Rage Craw on for a trailer.

Today was great! Hit the Merrimack, and landed 15 smallies, and my buddy landed 5. Most productive pattern was right along shore, in warmer, shallower coves where the water was a lot warmer, and slowly swimming a split shotted Rage Eeliminator and a Tx rigged Rage Tail Smokin Rooster. It was awesome!

I just got home from fishing for smallies in a muddy, high river with 50 degree water. I found water 56 degrees in some coves, and hammered them today swimming a Rage Eeliminator and Rooster with a split shot, and just under the surface. 15 smallies for me, between 1 1/2 lbs, and 3 1/2 lbs.

Rocky bottom to me means jig time, but you'll still lose some, just part of the game.

I'd have him try a wacky rigged 5" Senko (black). That will usually put a fish or two in the boat.

A heck of a lot more often since I joined this site, that's for sure!

Congrats, and I hear ya! Bassresource has made me so much more of a better angler, that it's crazy! I love this place!

Mostly finesse, and my favorite power technique is probably when I'm burning a spinnerbait.
