  1. I use them quite a bit. Mostly in heavy cover. Adding a rattle would be a good idea, too.
  2. So, where's it gonna be, guys?
  3. I've been torn between the Shimano Crucial and the St Croix Avid for my next casting rod, but there is a new player in the mix. I'm looking for any and all feedback on the new Duckett series of casting rods. I'll more than likely be looking for a 7' MH. Anyone get to try one of these out yet?
  4. Congratulations you two!
  5. Might get more knowledgeable folks on the Potomac in the Southeast section, but if I were down there right now, and I was throwing swimbaits, I'd go right for the baby bass or bluegill patterned ones.
  6. For me, I've been throwing a lot of the KVD swim jig (3/8), usually in bluegill or sexy shad color, and always use a baby craw, half an anaconda, or 3" of the back of a thumper as the trailer (use the cut tail feature). The other swim jigs I use are the bladed kind, like the Chatterbait, or Pure Poison, and it's usually black and blue or white with those.
  7. Yeah, I was going to suggest an Avid or a Shimano Crucial. I'm torn between these two rods myself right now and can't decide.
  8. Yeah, try a 6/0 hook with a 10" Anaconda or Thumper Worm. Should get the attention of some of the bigger girls. Sounds like a nice lake.
  9. Love that Monkey! Also try -on a stand up jig head -on a Carolina rig -shakey head just to name a few more
  10. I'd try a swim jig with a summer craw Rage Craw trailer.
  11. Very cool, Wagn! Congrats!
  12. Hawg Whisperer!
  13. Great fish! A fish that size would be my PB, too!
  14. I've never fished Mascoma, but I heard there's some good smallmouth there. Good luck, let us know how you do.
  15. I hear ya on that, UNH. Only small ponds for me this weekend. Got on quite a few fish yesterday, but the biggest was just under 3lbs. The night bite sucked last night, so called it quits at midnight, but probably gonna hit somewhere today since the boat's still on the truck! Good luck if any of you guys are out there today.
  16. Actually, my friend lives in the horse farm right before you get to the pond. And, I use a 10' jon boat with a trolling motor to fish all the places I can't launch the bass boat, but no I never fished Rollins Pond, but I'm up for it!
  17. That's weird, man it was just the opposite for me. When it cloudied up a bit, I got hit, then sun comes back, they went to sleep on me (except pickerel).
  18. Yeah, I hear ya! I'm gonna wait until about 5:00 to head out, then fish till like 10:00, or until they stop biting! Good luck out there.
  19. That's a nice 6 right there! My buddy lives 100 yards from that pond, and it's always been tough to fish there, but it does give up some pigs sometimes, including one of my 7's from last year, and my buddy's 6.5lb. The bass in there like buzzbaits, and weightless Tx rigged craws.
  20. Yeah, wherever is fine by me, too. Just if we end up at Stumpfield, it'll be all trolling for me.
  21. Put me down for $50 on the Rage Tail Craw.
  22. Definitely good on the Rage baits. I mostly use it when it's sunny for that extra bit of flash.
  23. Nope, I never have.
  24. Definitely try rigging it on a heavy 5/0 hook, preferably a screw-lock type. Then I do exactly as squertz described, and insert the hook just a hair further back to give it a touch more keel to the shape. Should get you fixed right up.
