Symetre(New) Vs. Orra S/sx Spinning Reel
Can't really answer that question but I don't THINK so. Inshore fishing is the prime thing I do, it's my opinion if a reel performs well and is durable fishing saltwater then it's going be fine in freshwater, I don't believe the opposite is true. For a double duty reel my first consideration is to the salt. Penn battle is a real nice real, a bass fisherman probably would not care for it, it's on the heavy side (3000), an inshore angler wouldn't give it all that much thought. Recommendations come in quite fast, my recommendation is the reel that feels good and fits your eye, they will all perform pretty good in that price range. At $100 cust service is important too.

Symetre(New) Vs. Orra S/sx Spinning Reel
They would all be fine, for light inshore I would prefer a 3000 or comprable size in another brand. There are other good choices too, I've seen pflueger supreme xt 35 for $107, pretty good reel too.

Spinning Setup Balance
Perfect balance can only be obtained if the same exact weight lure is used every time. Don't know about anyone else but I use a variety of lure types with different weights, I don't seem to endure difficulty doing this. I do hold my rod in an unconventional manner, not that I'm the only one, my hand is on the foregrip above the reel. With many bass style rods this would be difficult, for me the advantages are always having my hand in strike position for a larger fish, makes setting the hook easier for me by having a bit more leverage and does negate some tip heaviness. Like Fishes in Trees, a little tip heavy isn't a bad thing. I'd be buying the reel I liked the best, perfect balance IMO is over rated and over thought.

Bank Fishing Forum
In my part of Florida the canals and ponds have little real structure, with the exception of debris, which I might classify more as cover than structure. What ever you want to call bass like to hang near bridges, culverts, and canal intersections. Community type ponds that can have some really nice fish, I have done well fishing the corner pockets, where I live there isn't even much vegetation.

Broward County Bass Fishing
Up in Delray I'd be looking for a different area to fish. The day after the rains the canals were very high, now all the floodgates are open and yesterday the water has receded maybe 8' from each bank. The ugliest coffee colored water I have ever seen, what little water is there the current is exceptionally fast, didn't get a strike. The ponds on the other hand have exceeding their banks and the water is crystal clear, I did have a few fish there.

2014 Goals
. I've caught that 30# jack, words haven' been created to explain it

2014 Goals
Mine would be a hope not a goal, I don't have any control of what's swimming by. While I'm still able to walk, lol, I'd like to hook any kind of fish that will strip out 200 yds of line (without opening my bail) chase it on foot down the beach stepping over rocks for a half mile and land it. That will be my greatest catch and my last fish, I'll retire.

High Capacity Reels
Not a bad point........ large very heavy baits on rods heavy enough to throw them, using 25 lb line is something that I have never done for bass fishing. I relate the need for line capacity more for fishing for other species. Yes your point is well taken.

Rage Crab For Flippin Big Reds Too!
Cool...........work for snook just as well and I'm willing to bet a permit might grab it too.

10# Vs 20# Braid -- Noticeable Differences For Finesse And Wacky?
The best thing about my stradics is that I've never ever had a wind knot with about 5 years of almost daily use. I don't use my 4000's in freshwater, loaded with 15 and 20# PP braid I think using lures a bit heavier and a different casting motion has something to do with the wind knots. I get wind knots almost every time I freshwater fish, lighter lures, more snap casts and smaller spools could be the culprits, line size didn't seem to be too relevant.

High Capacity Reels
Realistically how often do you encounter a fish that has the capability of stripping out 50 -100 yds of line. 50 yds. may not sound like a lot, but 150' is long way for a fish to run. I need a pretty good size snook or tarpon to run like that and it doesn't happen that often. Many of the larger bass I've caught actually swim at me and not away, I don't think mega line capacity is needed for bass fishing. I set up for the average fish of a certain species, when that big one comes along that's when I see what I'm made of, I don't always win.

Abu Garcia Orra S20
When it comes to spinning my choice is always braid. For a reel that size I would not use anything heavier than 8# mono or copoly, braid from 10#-20" I think is a good choice. Braid is about diameter as most of it breaks well over the labeled number, the strength of the chain may have more to do with the leader than the mainline.

How Cold Where You Are?
I personally got lucky, some of my neighbors did have water damage. One of our friend's community had water up to the headlights, her car was towed in with $1500 in damage, she is only 2 miles from us. 1 young kid was throwing a senko in the middle of the street, lol, just glad I didn't see any mocs swimming around. I'm going to see if I can get out this morning, the flood gates are open maybe the snook will be on fire. Reports are we had nearly 2' of rain, the Delray/Boynton area where I live seemed to be about the hardest hit. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/news/breaking-news/rainfall-estimates-in-hardest-hit-areas/ncjHW/

Skill Or Luck
I always try and get the knots untangled, fishing for fun and relaxation I've got nothing but time, even more so if I only have 1 rod with me.
-
Skill Or Luck
Pretty much the same for me. I was untangling a wind knot, my top water lure was sitting a foot off the bank and I hear a giant splash. After the knot was untangled I start reeling in and the rod gets heavy, it was a really nice bass, but I'm sure it was skill by having the lure sit in just the right place.

Is It Gawdy?
nope, wasn't the only one.

Frugal Fishing
Terez rods are really nice, and I have done very well with the waxwing lures. I could throw a stick of dynamite this time of year and not get much, it's never good in the winter. I probably here this one a dozen times every winter down here from the "Long Islanders", "We were killing the stripers back in October". What do they think we were doing in October...........killing the tarpon and snook, it's all about the bait runs.

Reel Oil?
Same time frames, I use Boca Bearing oil and/or Corrosion Block.

Flourcarbon Line Or Leader ?
I absolutley agree, I do believe it's a bit more diffiult to tie a good knot with any kind of leader material, but doable. For almost everything I cut my leaders from filler spools, cheaper and more manageable IMO, I only use actual leader material offshore.

Fishing In Holiday Park/alligator Alley Post Front?
The canals around here have a lot of water in them and it's been non stop rain all night, only going to add more.

How Cold Where You Are?
Temperature isn't bad but been a down pour all night and still raining. With the outgoing tide there is no way that I won't be fishing this morning. Roads flooded so bad I couldn't make it but a mile, I can bass fish in the street in front of my house. One of our lakes overflood it's bank all the way over to the houses about 75' away. Officially 10" but the TV said unoffiical reports of 18" of rain fell, more coming this afternoon.

Is It Gawdy?
I had a Norton matchless in 1969, rode it to my office in a suit and tie many days.

10# Vs 20# Braid -- Noticeable Differences For Finesse And Wacky?
I think you spooled it up the right way. Shimano 1000 is going to hold 95 yds of 10# braid, that's up to the top, at the bevel is going to be more like 80 yds. A few yards of backing or none at all is the way I'd go. We all have our preferences and mine is not to use a long leader, do not like a knot going thru the top guide especially on a rod like a 6'6 where the eye sometimes is on the small side. My leaders are about 20", if I plan on changing lures I'll use a duolock snap, worm or jig no snap. I know a lot of people use long leaders so they don't have to retie as often, whether I tie line to leader or use a swivel I don't think it takes much time to attach a new one. The shorter leader will prevent any coiling on the spool, no need for a line conditioner, which I've never seen any advantage on braid. Not a recommendation, just the way I do it.

Frugal Fishing
A large percentage of snook and tarpon as well as some other species are caught for me on bucktail jigs. One of my favorites is a hot lips jig that BPS makes, a 3 pack is about 6 bucks and I do order them on line. I happen to be at BPS several months ago so grabbed a few packs, on the way out I passed a clearance bin with 3 pack hot lips for 99 cents, I loaded up. Outlet bait and tackle has some real bargains, I've bought $10 lures for a couple of bucks, I keep my eyes pitched and evey once in while they sell Krocodile spoons for .99 &1.99. I buy inexpensive lures that have proven to catch fish, I buy $20 ones too but a a good deal is not being frugal, it's being smart. Where can I get a deal on Shimano waxwing lures?...........haha.

Skill Or Luck
I'd rather be lucky than good any time. Skill is learning how to use your equipment. Luck is being in the right place at the right, it's a game of inches and timing. Perfectly placed casts often yield no results, and off target casts can catch some great fish, that's luck. Having a 10# fish get to the lure faster than a 2 pounder, that's luck. Catching a hot day when 50 fish are landed with any lure thrown, not skill just a lucky day. By contrast being fairly proficient with your equipment, knowing your water and you have a lousy day, that's luck too.................bad luck. Being on a great body of water doesn't take skill or luck to catch fish it just takes being there and putting your time in. However being on that great body of water that yields 10# fish and you are only catching smaller fish using all techniques, multiple rods, every lure know to man,hi speed boats and electronics are you unskillful or unlucky. When a person on the bank with 1 rod and 1 lure catches more or bigger fish, is he/she more skillful or just luckier? In the end the fish makes the decision whether to strike or not, yeh I'd rather be lucky.
