Boat Ramps In West Palm Beach
Cory, the snakehead fisherman, fishes in my area sometimes. Has a john boat and just slides it down the hi banked canals here.

Hercules, What A Bummer, Fizzle.
My partner found this building about 25 years ago, abandoned with half the roof missing. We wired it and put phone service but never put a roof on. We squatted free for 10 years, plus we rented out about 150,000 sq ft of the 300k lol, my partner really knew how to push the envelop. In the frigid weather we parked the rigs inside and ran them all night, diesel fuel gels in real cold weather, fumes not too bad as a big portion of the roof was missing. Fast forward many years I see the new owner put a roof on. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=411+South+Fort+Street,+Detroit,+MI&hl=en&ll=42.286024,-83.144295&spn=0.006445,0.014977&sll=26.746224,-80.052567&sspn=0.248951,0.479279&oq=411+s.+fort+detroit&t=h&hnear=411+S+Fort+St,+Detroit,+Michigan+48217&z=16

Give Up On Bass During Colder Months?
The colder months are pretty much the only times when I do focus on catching bass, I do get out in the summer but not everyday like now. My day always starts with saltwater but the bite is not real good now, have caught only 1 snook in the last week, being a die hard I won't give it up. I am doing quite a bit of bass and peacock fishing now, I just have developed a terrible taste for fishing heavy vegetation, even though there are some great fish out there. I'm fishing pretty much ponds with a light power rod, the fish aren't much more than a few pounds but I'm enjoying it more.

Is It Gawdy?
It's good to have the game go along with the garb. Years ago I played golf with a guy that wore plus 4's all the time, couldn't break 90 and looked like a goofy fool. On the other hand Payne Stewart had the game, looked great wearing them, and was one of the class acts out there. It's one thing to compete for 6 figure prize funds and represent your sponsors while doing "business" out there. For me to knock out a few fish for recreation, shorts and t shirt is usually my costume of the day.

Braided Line
I do quite a bit of fishing in the dark, I can't see the line anyway. Been fishing long enough that I don't get overly concerned about feeling the bite, imo braid is a big equalizer especially if one knows how to take the slack out when it's windy. I did hop on the F/C bandwagon, but jumped off. Fishing for extremely line shy fish I did not notice a difference in the amount of strikes I was getting. Back to mono leaders but steel is out as many fish here won't touch a lure with steel leaders. I'm comfortable with my line leader combinations, I don't fish defensive and go where I hope the fish to be, losing lures for whatever reason is just part of the game. I lose plenty of lures ( catch plenty of fish too) just retie and continue what I'm doing. If you are afraid of losing a lure, don't use it, a lure is only a tool, nothing more.

Lure Making
I do make lures specific for one species, not bass.

20" Tag Line Test
Rules are for the narrow minded, there are no rules in fishing. People catch fish every way imaginable.

Is It Gawdy?
Being in South Florida, especially Saturday mornings on A1A, there are literally hundreds of bikers donning apparel that would make some believe they have entered the Tour de France. That said my wife tells me I'm no different as I often wear fishing pants and a long sleeve t, that do have a company name. I don't normally use those reels, I just like the fit of the shirt. A fishing jersey, not likely to be part of my wardrobe.

Is It Worth Sharpening Adequate Hooks
With the exception of 1 brand of lure I buy, those get immediately changed to a 3x treble, I use them as they come and never sharpen, I replace when needed, Freshwater gets 3x and salt water get 4x vmc. I will buy a freshwater version of #10 xrap if the salt one is out of stock, doesn't tale long to replace those with a 4x.

Hazards Of Melting Lead??
I've handled countless tons of lead, a lot of it by hand. Lead was a big item in the printing business many years ago, as they were switching over to lithoplate (aluminum sheets) I cleaned out quite a bit of lino and monotype. Lead and it's alloys in the scrap is a mainstay item, I have always handled it in quite a few forms. I've been in lead smelting operations many times, I would take precautions if I were working with it. Gloves, respirator, non flamable apron, hat and hard shoes would be an absolute priority, even handling small amounts on an occasional basis in a melting capacity. As far as handling the lead itself by hand without gloves, I don't see that as a problem, a good washing with brush isn't a bad idea afterwards.

Canadian Looking To Fish In Florida
In the Hollywood/Hallindale area French Canadian is a second language, lots of Canucks there.

Marabou Jigs For Crappie
This was actually made up for snook in the surf but I use them for bass, peacocks and about anything else in freshwater, after reading this post I took it out yesterday.

Braid Line
When using a leader the strength of that leader cannot be compared to the strength of braided lines. Many 20# braided lines are going to break at or more than 30#, leaders of the same poundage are not near as strong. The areas I fish, type of water and my target species may be different than some one else's, I've experimented for the combination that works best for me. Just a matter of trial and error to find what works best. There are no absolutes in fishing, it's always your choice.

Line Snag On The Cast?
I do not, I saw the knot being demonstrated om " Fishing the flats with Henry Waszczuk", instant love........lol. I make 7 wraps then go thru the bottom loop just above the swivel eye, make a wrap with that tag end thru the formed loop, then make a second wrap and cinch it down. I just call it a double wrap clinch knot, don't know if there is a specific name for it, but I can tell ya, it holds like vise. I use braided lines of 10-15 and 20#, I do use some 30# for offshore in the ocean, with a good drag and line capacity don't really need much heavier for most fish. I do not like this knot for mono or copoly lines, I use nothing but an ordinary clinch knot for those lines.

Line Snag On The Cast?
Varying schools of thought on what's best. I use 10 or 15# braid but with a heavier leader than many do, usually it's 20#. When I get snagged I tighten the drag and snap the bow, either the lure comes loose or it breaks at my loop knot or clinch knot at the swivel, the double wrapped improved clinch knot at the swivel holds pretty darn good. I don't tie line to leader in freshwater but I do in saltwater sometimes, the alberto is as good as anything I have ever used.

The First Time
Only person from this site I've fished with is Bassn Blvd, where the heck has he been. He met me at the inlet but he was on the other jettie as I had this nice snook on the line, it's dark but he sees me and yells over, is that you? I yell back and as he approaches me I can't lift this snook up, so he goes down on the ledge and fishes it our for me. Offers to go back to his truck for his camera, but I told him don't bother it's only a 15 pounder, lol. The highlight of fishing with him was 1 morning on the beach, he gets hit by about a 10# jack, lands it with 10# line med spinning a 2500 reel, I was skunked, I was happy and proud of him. That jack was a great fight.

Who Uses Casting Nets 2 Catch Live Bait??
One good method using live bait is too cut one of the fins so it swims differently, squishing a bait may not keep it live for long. There are times when nothing works but live bait. I have casted dozens upon dozens of times into busting snook and tarpon only to go strikeless for 45 minutes, the bait moves out and then the artificials start working.

Should I Always Target This Certain Spot
Got to add to this. Not only do I feel they reside in a fairly small area but when I catch really nice one I 'm catching other good fish in their respective areas. Seems when the small fish are on that's pretty much what I get and when the bigger ones are aggressive I don't catch too many small ones.

How Y'all, Youse, And You Guys Talk
Only place in the country where it's called devil's night, born and raised in Detroit and the test verified that 3 times. I did live south of the Mason Dixon line for a while and NYC, adopted the accents for a bit but no longer have them.

Broken Insert. What To Do?
The scimitar, if still made, costs only $29, I probably would not repair it. When I first moved to Florida I bought a couple of them, heavy by bass standards but handled the fish pretty well. I did catch quite a few snook and a shark maybe 60-70# on a mh, in the end the rod finally snapped. If memory serves it was the only rod I have owned that has snapped when landing a fish. The soujorn, which I own, was a dedicated barracuda rod for me and it's pretty good for 30 bux until the ceramic guides started popping out. Replaced 2 which almost was the cost of a new rod, it's been a dust collector for years.

Are You Really Trying To Get Better?
I'm as good as the body of water I'm on and hopefully the fish are in a good mood. If they are on I'm catching them, if not I can get skunked like anybody. What I need is for the fish to get better, lol.
