What's the going rate for a used Stella FA 2500
I have no idea of the value, that said I do not buy used......PERIOD ! For what that reel may cost, I would buy a new stradic fi, at least I now have a warranty for a year and a great reel.

More Setups Vs. Better Setups
I have way too much equipment, most of it for saltwater. As far as freshwater bass are concerned I basically use 2 setups and they aren't too much different, fairly light spinning. I have $35 reels performing like new for years and can say the same for $200 ones as well, getting equal enjoyment from both. IMO spending $600 or more to catch 2-3lb LMB for a recreational fisherman is act of lunacy. I love catching bass as much as the next guy, but they really don't tax my equipment, couple jumps and they are done. If one can justify it go for it, I can't.

The American Flag is disrespectful... in America???
I dare say that this signals downfall of American society. This is just an instance of stupidity- not symbolic of America in general. What made this country great in the first place was the influx of immigrants wanting a new life with new freedoms & opportunities, most of us are descendants of them. I'm not sure when the timeline changed, but in pre & post WW2 an immigrant needed sponsorship, a job and residence, then 7 years to stand for citizenship, the proudest day of my father in law"s life after being liberated from the holocaust These modern problems in my opinion stem from American business wanting cheaper labor. In my community of Delray Beach which is a farming community, housing shacks for migrants have been here for decades. I won't touch the political aspect, only to say this problem isn't new, goes way back in time.

How about that shot of that knucklehead at the game gettin TAZED
A tazing incident at the Players golf tournament on Friday. A fan was heckling players and other fans as well, a case of too much drinking. Security tried quietly too guide the attendant off the premises but he refused to go..........he then got a jolt.

Just to clarify
I think all can safely say that a number of posts are not structurally sound. In only rare cases do I have to scratch my head and wonder what the poster is trying to convey, most posts get the message across and that's what I'm interested in. I agree with a previous post about intellectual superiority, people that are secure with themselves have no need to nit pick, I'm as guilty as the next. I won't be enlisting in the Grammar Gestapo any time soon. Do you think most of these posts have been proof read several times over before actually posting them, not wanting to have egg on their own face?

line treatments
All I use is a warm water soak before spooling, works beautifully. Before using the new line I troll it out behind the boat, removing any coil or twist and giving me a tight spool. If my line is still good I will remove the spool from my reel and do a warm water soak again, re-trolling the line again as well.

Guess it's better than more payments...
$1000 for 120k miles is nothing I would consider major. Given the fact of having no payments for a period of time, I would take advantage by putting aside the amount of a car payment, I have now created a rainy day fund, or can pay cash for my next auto. Reliability is my number 1 concern, especially for my wife, I make sure her car is always in perfect condition. We pay cash for her cars except in times of extremely low interest rates, like now on certain models. IMO it's a better move to have payments if I'm offered 0% or.9% financing. I lease my personal cars, I like to change a bit more often and I'm always under warranty.

Choice for a spinning reel
But made in China. :-/ Are the Malaysians making Shimano's stradic fi any better at machining and and assembly? Have yet to have any problem with any Chinese spinning reel I own, btw my stradic fi came with a sticky bail, hardly the epitome of quality control.

Choice for a spinning reel
Just bought my first Daiwa in 40 years, a tierra and I'm very impressed. Time will tell on durabilty, but at $50 less than the stradic, it's a good buy, with solid performance, smooth and an excellent drag.

Fishing Regulations
Regulations are regulations, they go back in the water if not legal.

Choice for a spinning reel
Fatigue on a Shimano 3000, what model? Shimano c-14 2500 7.0 oz or Pflueger supreme 8030 7.4 oz, both do a good job.

Biggest Mistake After Putting The Boat In The Water
- Gulf Coast Oil Spill
I'm a liberal, but have always favored drilling where possible. As far as I know this is the first major disaster with offshore oil rigs and I did hear that there around 30,000 of them, I'm not making light of this accident but overall a pretty good record. Time to get our energy policy really going in the right direction, drilling for our own oil, (we still need it for plastics and other synthetics), nuclear, wind, solar and other new technologies being developed. Do people know if your home is powered by your own windmill the excess energy can be sold back to the energy company. I'm really feeling bad for the gulf shrimpers, they have had enough to contend with our own restaurants buying foreign shrimp, prices are already starting to spike. IMO BPS's fault, I don't know who else to blame, and their responsibility for the clean up. BTW they are hiring around 300 shrimpers to help, at least the shrimpers will have some income.- Tipping a Fishing Guide
For some reason tipping a fishing guide, whether he or she is an independent contractor or not is customary. In my mind the guide is always hoping to get a tip to increase their income, charging more for the day may be a deterrent, people are always looking for a deal. It is also customary to tip your barber for example, but if he or she is the shop owner, then the tip is out, many tip anyway but you shouldn't. I do not see the distinction between the guide and the barber or any other business owner. Every business has expenses.- Braid Recommendations
I'm starting to put some stock into having the right reel on the rod is a key to avoid braid issues. I don't hawk one brand over another, I use PP. Seldom do I have wind knots, but it does happen. The majority of my fishing is in the ocean surf casting into 20+ mph wind, the surf is usually 2-4 and that pushes your lure around, keeping a tight line is difficult. I purchased a wide spool reel at BPS, had it out 3 times using 20# PP, windknot after windknot, it was terrible. Took the real back to BPS, gotta love there customer service, and exchanged the reel for another brand. Using the same line from the exchanged reel in 2 outings of 20+ winds not one single windknot.- The real world takes its first jab at me.
As long as I can remember and I'm 65, employers always want to hire people with experience. That being the case I wonder how one gains that experience in the first place if no one is willing to hire them. The days of answering a help wanted ad in the newspaper ( without resume ) with the words "will train" seem to be long gone.- Go figure
Carrying the camera isn't the problem, it's taking a quality pic while being alone, usually no structure around to place the camera on, tripod is out of the question if walking the beach. As far as I'm concerned getting a Cobe along side the boat is "catch"...nice job, pity Cobia are great table fare. I caught this Cobe in 1975 on spinning tackle, the fish was immediately sold to a restaurant chef waiting at the docks( Key West ).- Guess the Weight?
These guess the weight threads are getting stale.......just weigh it yourself, if it's that important.- Line failed, lost swimbait...
I lose something every day, whether it's a weak spot in the line, snag or cut off, that's fishing. Recently I bought a spool of 20# Pline cxx, didn't like it and sent an email to them. They responded by asking me to send it back to them, then they shipped me 2 spools of my choice. Financial, not worth the time and effort, but why not, so I did.- Gulf Coast Oil Spill
You may have not heard of this.......real cutting edge technology from Israel. Innowattech is developing a system to generate electricity from the pressure of traffic driving along roads. Piezo-electric generators are installed inches beneath the upper layer of asphalt and convert the mechanical energy of traffic passing over them into electrical energy. INNOWATTECH estimates that its generators placed along a half-mile stretch of a four-lane motorway would produce about 1MWh of electricity enough to power 2,500 households. It is testing More to this article, if interested I would email.- Go figure
I normally do not fish with a camera, so last week I catch a real quality fish and was sorry I didn't take a photo. For the next 4 or 5 days camera strapped on my belt I had minimal success and nothing really photo worthy. Yesterday I leave the camera at home, 4 snook, 1 going about 12# or so, several nice jacks and 1 40" cuda, all in all a fun day. That camera is the kiss of death.- Geez I hate spinning tackle
I have 3 supremes, 25 and 30 for fresh and I use a 35 for snook and jack in saltwater, good reel and all 3 have lasted well over a year with hard use. I also own the stradic 4000, superior imo to the supreme, the cardinal or soron measures up to the stradic in every way it's actually my favorite. Keeping the line tight is the important factor, not hand closing the bail, some old wives tale someone created. I hand close maybe 75% of the time but see no real difference when cranked closed, spinning and braid 100% of the time. Here is what I can't figure out. Bought an 8' inshore rod recently med 8/17 and used my spheros 4000 and stradic 4000 without a glitch, perfect. Being a bit anal I wanted a lighter reel with more line capacity, so I bought a wide spool reel. Loaded up with the same 20# braid I get nothing but wind knots under the same conditions, an obvious non marriage of rod and reel and so much to the thought of narrow vs wide spool for better management, at least in my opinion. I will be returning the reel in favor of a soron or stradic this week. The best education comes from my own mistakes.- I'm getting promoted!
Where I come from a Leo is Lox, Eggs and Onions.- Anyone here not enjoy sight fishing??
Nothing I love more than sight casting, but I'm not talking bass. When fishing the surf or backcountry sight casting is the most rewarding and productive way to fish, at least for me. My eyes are always pitched on the water looking for bait or fins. Out here we love wind and a nice chop 2-4' chop, brings the fish in. I sight cast for bass too, but I don't bed fish, I like to keep moving, strictly a bank fisherman for bass.- the umbrella rig
If I were fishing for stripers live eels are a good choice or a snookball or a cuda tube..........stripers love them. - Gulf Coast Oil Spill
