How important are polarized sunglasses?
If you are not wearing prescription lens, you're paying for the frames. My script has changed little over the last 20 years with a slight change for reading, that's old age. Health of your eyes is a different issue and my yearly opthamology exam reports no deficiency or disease, not bad for 65. My opthamologist has no problem with any type of polarized lenses I wear as long as they are polycarbonate with UV protection.

what fish was i catching
They hit anything but the reason I said that was because they are notorious for destroying lures. I like using a single hook spoon for them.

How important are polarized sunglasses?
Being a glass wearer I use clip ons and as long as they are polycarbonate they work fine and give you the UV protection needed with no distortion. I have had expensive polarized eye wear before and saw no significant difference for me to spend more money. Some 20 - 30 years ago I had a good friend that was an optician, frames that cost retail $150 -200 then, his cost was $15- 20, can you say markup?......lol If you go the prescription route go to an optician, not on line, especially if you have an unusual prescription or you are highly sensitive to the axis, as I am.

Heavy mono. or steel leader ?
I don't fish for pike or muskie anymore, but I do fish for mackerel and barracuda which probably have more teeth. If I am not targeting those species I'm fishing with 30# mono leader leader on 15# braid. If I'm going after spanish macks I use a short piece of piano wire 20 or 30#, cuda's get 30# coated wire. This stuff handles any cuda 40-60", never got one bigger than 60, so a pike would be no problem. I only use wire leaders I make myself.

what fish was i catching
I've read the Florid record somewhere around 7 but well over 10 in other parts of the world. I've caught hundreds of them and man do they fight, pull out many yards line you'd think you had a 20# snook on. Very aggressive, when on a strike on every cast. Word of advice, don't use a luckcraft lure......lol

So I'm in Las Vegas for a shortsale/REO summit...
Real estate is ok if you have deep enough pockets to handle the carrying costs over a period of time ( Hoa, property taxes, maintenance,HO insurance, county club dues and required costs like the grille)for an investment property or second home. It's a good time to buy for your primary residence, providing you don't take a bath on your existing home. As far as refinance, great idea if you owe less than than what the new appraisal and an 80% lTV is important to avoid PMI, don't forget closing costs. Personally I always preferred stocks, many have had giant gains over the last year, plus it's liquid and no carrying costs except a buy and sell commission, which you are going to have with real estate too, unless you are your own broker and double dip it. Just my opinion, to each their own.

Rapala X-Rap

Gulf Coast Pier Fishing...
Decent choice for the $, I'd pick the 7 footer, 15-40 pretty heavy, be fine for the pier, and 16# of drag is not that strong.

Soron vs Tierra
I own most of the inshore reels and imo the Quantum Cabo is the best in the $200 and under market, yes better than the Stradic 4000 which I own as well. My everyday reel is the Soron 40, I love it. One of my neighbors ( snowbird from New Jersey )is charter boat captain specializing in tuna, fishes nothing but Penn, says he wouldn't use anything else.

How long will you live?
80 for me, that's only 15 years, just hope I don't outlive my money.

Re: New rods
I would never buy a used rod, you have no idea of how hard it was fished or tossed around.

Gulf Coast Pier Fishing...
Depends what you are fishing for, if just general fishing to get your pole to bend, frozen sardine, dead or live shrimp, crabs will get you something. Artificials can be tough if there are no baitfish swimming around, best bet is a silver spoon. Piers are high, you will need a rod with some backbone, like a freshwater catfish setup, personally I would add about $50 to the trip and buy a Walmart spinning rod and reel combo5-6000 reel 10/25 hvy rod.

Polorized lenses or not?
Exactly why pilots seldom wear them, or so my optician tells me.

SICK OF THIS bull
It's all about dollars and cents, or is sense. Technology is great for us as well as the corporations but we pay a price for it...........jobs! Ya gotta remember, the corporations care less about you, it's all about making money for shareholders and the board. Manufacturing companies have replaced people with robots, and now the robots are being replaced by even cheaper overseas labor. That Indian tech from New Delhi probably has as much or more education than many in the states, just need to something about the accent.

Best spinning reel line
I use 15# PP on a cardinal 802, smaller reels I use 10#..........never a wind knot !

python season in south florida
In no way am I going python hunting ! Bounties are nothing new, wolves foxes coyotes and even rats. Putting a price tag on the head of python may bring out professionals hunters. Even if that weren't the case in a sluggish economy it may be of benefit to the hunter( financially) as well as ridding some of these dangerous animals that could wind up in your backyard preying on kids and pets.

Help me understand A.D.D
Similir to what firefightn15 said my 15 yo grand son has ADD, tourrets syndrome and is bi polar of which it took me many years to buy into. He can no longer go to school and is now being home schooled via the internet, glad to say his mom is a teacher so that is a help. My only advice is professional help and yes the medications are very important, it may take time to hit on the right one.
