Now I've seen it all. High fashion meets fishing.
Would go well with an orange jumpsuit.

Plane has hit building in Austin Tx
I'm not in the least bit surprised, lots of ticked off Americans for various reasons. I've been telling my wife for years to get ready to see acts of aggression towards our government from within.

I bought some P Line. Good choice?
I use 20# flouroclear on an 8000 series reel for offshore fishing and caught fish over a 100# with it, strong.........you bet.

Salt water and freshwater gear
I use a garden hose every day but not a spray, just as it comes out of the hose. Rinse from top to bottom and you won't force any foreign matter into the reel. Salt is not the biggest problem, there are products like SaltX that remove salt, sand is your worst enemy.

Salt water and freshwater gear
Rinse your equipment right after fishing with fresh water, you should be fine.

Bifocals
Playing an instrument or typing on the keyboard............you don't look at it, ever see Ray Charles or Stevie wonder look at the piano?

Reel Cleaning
Technology favors the companies that either sell you more stuff, saying ya gotta have it, or companies with premium services that bill you every month like cell phones. Every 6 year old I know has their own cell phone and they gotta have an IPOD. It's more about companies making money than your convenience. Tires are what ticking me off. The last 15 or 20 years the cars I've had come standard with performance tires that last 15,000 miles and I've not noticed an enhancement in my performance, I'm not at the Indy 500. My car is 11 months old with 13, 500 miles and I'm entering the tire market.

What Mexican fishing location is "wife and daughters" friendly!!
Mazatlan Mexico. Resorts on or near the ocean, plus great salt water fishing and Lake El Salto about 90 minutes away for bass.

Quantum Schematics
Thanks A-Jay, I knew about the fast turn around time as Quantum is popular here in South Florida and I do know people that have sent them back..............on rare occasion. As for my Cabo, 2 drops of oil in the last year and it's like new.

Is St. Croix or GLoomis worth the extra $?
Sending 4 back............that's an endorsement on quality. We are programmed to believe the more you spend the better the product, I don't think that's always the case. Much of has to with not losing face over spending more than we needed to, I suffer that same guilt.

Bifocals
There is bi focal and then there is progressive. I have been wearing progressive since 1991, my first pair were terrible and I took them back after 2 days. I went to another optometrist and these progressive had no adjust period, right from the start they were great.

How bad has your cabin fever gotten?
I won't say I have cabin fever as I'm still fishing 7 days a week, however I'm not doing what I like to do best. In the winter here 20mph winds coming off the ocean at 50 degrees is uncomfortable for me plus there is a lack of bait which means few fish. Just like everyone else I'm waiting for the warmer weather and bait to show up.

1000 or 2500
With 65# braid no doubt in open water.........

The greatest olympic sport
Are the Olympics hard up for events? Imo curling is not much more than shuffleboard on ice. I would think the sweepers have wonderful domestic skills, do they do windows too?

snap swivels with crankbaits?
Duo locks have no adverse affect, I've been using them all year with all hard baits. I recently staring using them for saltwater inshore too, which I never thought I would do.

Yum Dancin Eel
I have never had a lure that didn't catch fish! I bet it would be a killer for stripers and barracuda, I make my own eel like tubes for cuda and it's the #1 producer down here for them.
-
Sure Set Hooks
I don't much care for them. Many anglers snip 2 of 3 hooks off a treble or use a siwash hook. If I have a broken hooks on my trebles, I just use them that way, caught dozens of snook and dozens of lmb on the same beat up xrap without replacing hooks

Here is a golden opportunity for all the young folks looking for fishing money!
IMO the object of college is to get an education, not to go fishing. However if one can get a free or cheaper ride then it isn't a bad way to go, understanding the focus is to get educated. Me, my wife and my kids went to Univ of Michigan, not a bad a school, and I cared less if they had a fishing team or not. Being educated afforded me the ability to send my kids to school where the cost to me meant very little. I could not agree with Sam more, education means a better income. For those just entering school the job market may be totally different by the time you graduate. This has been a deep recession but not unprecedented.......Whiners are losers and winners just go about their business regardless of adversity.

South FL?
I don't know where these statistical numbers come from regarding fish kill, only to say since the cold snap I have not caught a peacock in my area. I did notice in the article that pythons are dying which I think is a good thing, but will the survivors and their off spring be more tolerant of colder weather?

Any of you ever been in a bar fight?
Interesting topic and yes I've been in life threatening situations at gun and knife point, only to say that I'm still here and was never seriously injured. As far as bars go, twice, both times at upscale dinner clubs sitting at the bar and was the brunt of racial harassment. I'll pass on the details ( no one ever wins a fight) only to say you see the true colors of people even wearing Armani suits and drinking $10 martinis. I never peed in my pants, I grew up in the inner city of Detroit.

Why not steel?
Pure tungsten W is way to expensive for use as a sinker, it would be cost prohibitive. Lead is one of the cheapest elements. Galvanized steel ( steel with zinc) could be an option.
-
Why not steel?
Lead is cheap and dense (why it's used as an xray shield). Stainless is a nickel alloy and the nickel market is expensive. Magnetic stainless is much cheaper but will rust. You can pour own, I had fisherman coming to my yard once in a while to buy scrap lead.
