NFL overtime rule
I agree about the commercials but the commercials pay for us to see it on tv and the networks are in business to make money. I'd hate to see every game on PPV or additional sports package. The state of the union speech in PPV, hmmmm not a bad idea. lol

NFL overtime rule
Over time rule will probably not change. Games are longer today than they used to be for 2 primary reasons, 1. It's a passing game and the clock stops on incompletes and out of bounds. 2. Challenges and reviews, which I don't care for, it appears to me that the original call stands the vast majority of the time.

FYI: Loomis Warranty
Please post the name of the your rod company that picks up the freight on warranty work. They just might get my business. Thanks! Ronnie I said that wrong and was unclear, what I meant to say was the rods I use just exchange over the counter no questions asked, I stepped on guides in the middle of the night on a couple occasions and just simply went to the store for replacement. What I meant to say as far as shipping goes a lifetime warranty should cover shipping especially if it's a manufacture defect. IMO there is more to a company than just the quality of what they are selling, it's the extra step that's taking to make their customers happy. I use Redbones.

FYI: Loomis Warranty
I would think the rods are just visually inspected and not put under any type hi tech examining equipment or ordinary xray, but it would be quite easy to learn without having an advance degree. As far as I'm concerned the only true lifetime warranty is a no questions asked over the counter or freight is picked up by the company, as my rod company does. The expediter service looks like a way just to charge an extra 50 bucks for the rod, I have fallen prey myself to these types of practices. If you like the rod spend the extra money, they are good rods.

Worms for redfish?
We have had redfish threads in this section before, that's why it's called other species. Redfish in my part of Florida are not easy to catch simply because not many around, need to head north. Redfish and snook for that matter are quite similar to bass fishing, same equipment and tackle can be used. I don't fish tournaments so I'm always trying to catch the biggest I can. Ever try a snook ball? A snook ball is nothing more than a 1/4 oz jg with a long white worm trailer, it's very effective for redfish too. IMO LMbass are the easiest fish to catch, abundant, aggressive, easy to handle, can catch as many with a $20 combo using a plastic worm as you can with a stella & loomis using hundreds of dollars of tackle. Any time you read a post where someone has caught 20 -50 in an outing , how hard can it be? I'd like to see a 5# red pulled in with a ul, maybe if you ran it down with a boat , but I'd bet against doing it from shore. You would either be spooled or have your 6# yozuri broken like sewing thread.

Frog fishing And Spinning Reel?
I only use only spinning and I use 20# braid on a frog rod, any decent reel is sufficient, its the rod that counts. I could pull up the titanic with 20#.....lol

Pflueger Trion GX-7 Spinning Reel
I have a trion ulgoing strong after about 4 years and I had a 3750 that I gave to my son inlaw, worked perfect. I agree about the rosewood handle, all in all it's a workhorse that won't fail.

Used Plastics - Keep or Toss?
I pitch em and use new next outing.........that being said , my wife is anything but a fisherwoman, on her rod she had a 7'5 culprit worm hanging in shreds for about 2 years. I take her out to the pond one day and that worm immediately caught fish, I just stood there in my role has dehooker.

Lots of Mackeral
I'm catching plenty of them but with peacocks in "remission", I have lost my energy for freshwater for a while, I've got 4-5# LMB in my pond in my backyard. I will say large fish of any species are a challenge to catch so I'm sure I'll be hunting for some LMB when my present quarry slows down. Considering it's winter I'm doing rather well and the fish I'm catching are a bigger than the 4-7# bass on the web page. The bigger the fish, the better the battle, the more I'm interested, so I've been motivated in another direction........

shimano stimula spinning rod??
Inexpensive entry level, less than $29.00, but a very decent blank. I use a heavier soujorn around the same price for ocean bonita & cuda and it has a great spine, I really like it. The ceramic guides fall out of these rods, I put a couple of drops of super glue on each of them, so far it's been the cure for life.

White jigs?
I think you are reading more in to this than needed. I use a white wahoo flats jig and the bass love em, they hit what ever moves. The bass don't discriminate as this is a redfish jig.

FYI: Loomis Warranty
I have to give the nod to Rolo, he got screwed. He probably has more expertise with fishing equipment than the majority of people working at loomis or shimano. As far as a rod inspector, I think a 20 minute class with a magnifying glass is about all you need to become an expert, it's nothing more than a piece of graphite with no moving parts. Shimano misses the boat in customer relations, I have had reel issues with them, the wholesale manufacturing cost of their equipment isn't all that much money. I like their products but I don't put them on a pedestal.

Sad days in S. Florida
I'm in agreement with Dan. I am very sad to see this kill of peacocks, the bright side is the ensuing generations may adapt better to colder water. Speaking only for myself I know which I'd rather catch, P vs LMB, the P wins hands down and I understand they are delicious too. Perhaps they will evolve into the new Florida state fish. Luckily in Florida we have options.

Lots of Mackeral
I've not caught a Cero, but the bulk of Mackeral still seem to be north of me (singer Island). Considering it's winter I'm doing ok, but it takes a lot of hunting, I'm done with LMB for the year.

Spinning Vs. Baitcasting
I broke in on casting gear nearly 60 years, then 1 day my dad came home with 2 spinners for him and 2 spinners for me, love at first site. Went back to b/c for a a bit but for the last 30 or so years it's nothing but spinning ( cept fly rod). I use spinning for everything from freshwater to inshore to pelagic species ( sailfish). I have one conventional outfit used only for drifting or trolling in the ocean, imo it's better suited for that than spinning gear, but given the choice I would rather land them on spinning. I have caught back to back lemon sharks apx 150# each using only a 6000 spinner with 25lb class rod and 20# mono on a king rig.

Florida cold weather kill
Around here there are 2 types, armored catfish and sailfin catfish, looks like same fish except the markings are a little different. Dead all over the place http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www5.pbrc.hawaii.edu/ccrt/taras/site/Images/catfish.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www5.pbrc.hawaii.edu/ccrt/taras/site/danger.html&h=251&w=300&sz=30&tbnid=GCX_8lkjwHl_jM:&tbnh=97&tbnw=116&prev=/images%3Fq%3Darmored%2Bcatfish&hl=en&usg=__s26uJSWLGhYnmp6BpdGoqmBYv0k=&ei=9dJWS86TA9WUtgerodmpBA&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=3&ct=image&ved=0CA0Q9QEwAg http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://spotted.staugustine.com/images/100008/photos/2009/02/07/gallery/1829903.jpg&imgrefurl=http://spotted.staugustine.com/photos/index.php%3Fid%3D1829903&h=355&w=473&sz=90&tbnid=6PKlMADYoazttM:&tbnh=97&tbnw=129&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dsailfin%2Bcatfish&hl=en&usg=__n4iTrg2bE_f1DOdWnzE2zSM0es4=&ei=5dJWS8T6GM2ztgfMiom5BA&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=2&ct=image&ved=0CBAQ9QEwAQ

Newbie Bass fishing report for last month
I'm off to Markham Park........ Don't worry about the hook they are routinely caught on 2/0 jigs and flys. BTW the law is a bit sketchy but the FWC doesn't want Tarpon netted or taken from the water even to remove the hook or take a picture. Their internals are not supported out of water and it's hazardous to their health. FYI : Due to the recent cold weather and the death of hundreds of Snook, Tarpon and Bonefish throught out the state. The state of Florida has but a ban on Tarpon ,Snook and Bonefishing. The regular Snook season scheduled to reopen of Feb 1 is being put on hold til further notice.

Peacock Bass Fish Kills
Just got back from a canal here in Delray, dead peacocks by the dozens, blue tilapia, some mayans and lots of dead plecos. One thing I dead notice was the dead were large in each of the species, no juvenile fish.
