How to turn wife into bass junky??
WHY? Been married a long time and my wife is as interested in me tagging along with her at Nordstroms as I am in taking her fishing. Being retired we see a lot of each other and " personal down time" works well in my marriage. My wife is my queen.

Why KVD?
As far as I'm concerned fishing is no more a sport than tournament chess. An argument can be made on golf, walking 4 days on a hilly U.S. Open prepared course requires stamina and concentration, 1 or 2 bad shots and you are history, a few wasted casts in fishing mean little on the overall picture. As far as being dominant.......Pete Sampras or Roger Federer in tennis, now that's a real sport, cant' be an argument on this one.........4 days of 3-4 hour matches with non stop action and concentration, most mortals wouldn't last 5 minutes.

Spinning Reel Delimma: Sahara, Supreme, or Soron STX?
There is another thread regarding cardinals ( Soron is same as an 800). I own 3 supremes 2 for fresh and 1 for salt, Cardinal 802 which I moved to freshwater and a Soron 40 for salt............IMO the 800 cardinals are a step up over the supremes, in this price range the Shimanos fall short. All of the reels will work fine, it's the rod that makes the real difference. Side bar: I removed the handle from my Cardinal 802 and replaced it with the larger handle from the 804, fits perfect and is a great upgrade for 10 bucks.

Summer gloves
The only time I won't call you a weenie for wearing a glove to lip bass is if the glove is for sun protection. Try surgical latex gloves and cut thumb off and just wear the thumb portion.

your opinion of quantum catalyst CI30PTS spinning reel
I have never used that but I do use a Quantum Cabo 30 which gets the nod over my Stradic now.

Jigs in Florida
I use a 1/4 oz saltwater (wahoo) or a flats jig for bass, no trailer and it's does very well. Put a worm trailer on it and now you have what's referred to as a " snookball", gotta think that set up would do very well for LMB.

Billfish
Probably a 100 different opinions of where to catch the largest of each species. Time of the year is important for each individual species. Right now sailfish are hot in Florida, becoming difficult to catch them in the summer, white marlin are best caught in the summer, in Florida 100+. Some like the Caribbean and it's good real good there, I had a place in Cabo and it's great there too, they catch striped marlin which run bigger than white. My first trip there I went out in " panga" no motor the Mexican guide rowed out into the cape, it was fantastic, nowadays they all use motors.

Dark or Milk Chocolate?
I like both and no question European is better, although nothing wrong with Godiva or Dove. Dove makes a dark chocolate and peanut butter, it's good. Mexico is well known for chocolate.

Disability Insurance
The premiums are relative to the nature of your work. The more dangerous or a profession where one is around contagious people such as a Dr. or nurse the rates are higher. Your medical history is considered and some pre existing conditions can be a no no. Insurance companies employ detectives to make sure you are not playing golf when off with a back injury for example. The business I was in and the income I wanted created a very high premium. It's a good idea if one can afford.

Why KVD?
71 wins of 239 events, 14 majors, record for longest cuts made with no need to mention 2nds or top tens, Tiger slam, periods when win ratio was nearly 50%, collegiate record or any of the minor records set.........Tiger Woods, that's domination !

New Owner!
I wish you well in your new endeavor, no guts no glory. I started up my business during a recession in the 70's and IMO there is no better time, attrition is on your side, especially as you have bought a business that is already up and running.

Old Timers Round Up Part 2 Deep Water Fishing
The common term for pelagic is offshore in the ocean or seas, not a lake as I see it defined, and yes there is structure out there. Assuming one does define pelagic in reference to deep lakes as this is a fresh water site, you find the bait, you have found the fish, enticing a strike is another matter. I grew up fishing a 1200 acre lake with depths up to 125', in those days with a rowboat and no motor for the first few years, needless to say no electronics, and to this day I have never used for freshwater. My #1 lesson from my father was to watch the water for activity and the birds as well. This holds true even more so in saltwater, find the bait, you have found the fish, where ever you are fishing.

Fishing almanac
I have been watching those fishing calenders for years and I'm not convinced. Some days they seem to be right on and other days they are way off. Yesterday the fishing forecast was for a poor day and it was, managed 1 fish for an hour of fishing, happy to to the lmb went between 7-8. I have had way better success on the new moon rather than the full moon.

Pompano pier-snook
FYI, the snook season is closed and a tentative date is Sept 1 for opening, however I did hear some talk about the season being shut down for 2 years, so it's catch and release only. That's where the snook hang, in the swash, usually the water is too cold for them this time of the year to be on the beaches, I've been catching quite a few in the ICW or brackish canals ( they look for warmer water), very little if any bait in my area, have yet to fish around the pompano pier.

spinning reel suggestions
Pflueger.......good choice. Shimano makes great reels as long you are spending a bigger buck, their low level reels aren't too good.

Plane has hit building in Austin Tx
It's a miracle that the casualty list is not longer. This man was not a terrorist or part of any right wing group. He had a run of bad luck over many years and reached his own saturation point, his solution obviously a poor choice. I can sympathize with his feelings, certainly not his actions. And how would this tactic prevent this type of occurrence?

Tax refund; buy Jon boat trailer or more rods and tackle
A stock split is no guarantee that the value of the stock will rise, just more shares. If my tax refund was my sole savings account, I'd save the money for a real emergency, but that's just me. If you're married buy your wife something, it's her money too.

Salt water and freshwater gear
First of all I use a mg reel (supreme) in saltwater with no adverse affect, in time there will be a problem as this reel does not have non corrosive bearings, if you rinse you should not have a problem with finish on the frame, I will not do this again. The stella is a mg reel, approved for saltwater use with non corrosive bearings, but there is a difference in the saltwater version of the stella, aluminum frame, and parts coated for saltwater use that the freshwater stella does not come with. In the Quantum line up there are differences as well, I use a cabo and it's great for saltwater. The terms "airplane grade" or "marine grade" are generic terms as there are 100's of different aluminum alloys, the same goes for SS, 100's there too. I have not noticed any mfg stating exactly what the alloy is regarding alum, ss or mg. Occasional use with a decent quality fresh water reel should pose no problem, but for steady use in saltwater a saltwater reel is the best way to go.

Most Gratifying thing about fishing?
Bone jarring strikes, screaming drags and 50YD + runs off the beach with light spin tackle or fly rod.
