Xrap hook replacement
I replace with #4 saltwater on my xr 8, both front and rear and replace using #2 saltwater hooks on my xr10. No reduction in lure movement at all, use a loopknot. Absolutely, common saltwater practice fishing for barracuda, will work for any toothy critter. I'd upsize the split rings while you're at it. J hook ( siwash preferred ). I replace the trebles with a siwash on my spoons as well.

Transferring line from one reel to another?
Unfortunately, Fluorocarbon is not. All relative........a chain is as strong as it's weakest link I would buy an inexpensive rod and reel before I would buy " cheap" line.

Power Pro at Walmart vs. others in any differences?
I buy the majority of my PP at Walmart, way better price for the same product, plus they are open 24 hours. I hear stories ( on here ) about shelf life deteriorating PP at Walmart.....pure nonsense.

Question About Casting Distance
Distance is a bit over rated, I'd take accuracy for bass fishing. Key factor for distance is how the rod loads up, identical ratings from 1 manufacturer to another will not always produce the same results. I've had glass composite rods cast further than their graphite counterparts, also on observation seen incredible distance from ugly sticks.

king mackerel rod holder
When fishing for kings it's never a bad idea to always hold the rod, I do. Kings do not always strike at lighting speed, many times they will " touch" the bait, then come back for a more solid bite, be ready to set the hook, but not like a bass, just a firm pulling up of the rod as they are swimming away, their speed will set the hook then. Bait?.......In Florida frozen sardines or ballyhoo on a king rig, are widely used.

Baitcast vs. Spinning
Haven't used a conventional reel in 40 years, except for ocean offshore. I can do whatever I need with spinning. I'm using the same basic equipment for freshwater as for inshore saltwater. Slop or not, I'm looking for challenge.

Transferring line from one reel to another?
Mono is cheap enough just to respool with brand new line.

Polarized Sunglasses?
Polycarbonate lenses are the key for polarized sunglasses, the same protection is offered in a $10 pair as a $200 pair, they may scratch a bit easier but so what, get a new pair. Whether it's regular sunglasses or polarized it becomes an issue of health, the sun will cause cataracts with age so check the uv protection. I wear mine more for protection, once the surf gets up or the lake gets rippled the polarization has less effect. The eyewear biz has an incredible mark-up. I have friends in the biz both wholesale and retail, have bought frames for $20 that retail for over $200, many times. Lenses are a huge mark-up item as well, honestly they are nothing but plastic with some coating, no reason they should cost that much, but they do.

Would you sell out?
As an amateur what do you think a sponsor would offer? If it were only a slight discount the answer would be no, but if there was some dough involved I'd use an Oneida broomstick.

king mackerel rod holder
Purpose? I know people on boats may use a rod holder to tire out a goliath grouper, as it's a deep water fighter, but kings are not and much much smaller, 8-20# on average but 30# not rare. Planning on setting the rod aside while freelineing bait? IMO a baitrunner or a conventional reel set in the freeline position is the best equipment for that. Not owning those reels you may use a very light drag or open your bail. If worried about your rod flying over the top rail I'd just tie the rod down with a piece of rope. I have seen clamp down rod holders, pretty cheap, but the clamps are only 2 or 3" wide, so best to measure your rail first.

Update and Map of Oil Spill in Louisiana's Marshes
Russian technology is not in the same league as western tech and whereas Trump is a successful developer ......he is no oilman. John Hofmeister , former president of Shell oil said last night that imploded the well may have big risks( nuclear device has been discussed as well) may create stress cracks at the reservoir pool, which may make countless numbers of seepage areas that could never be stopped. IMO Hofmeister seems to be one of the more knowledgeable people I've heard

Moon Phases Affecting Fish
Full moon is an old wives tale. One time in the last 5 years I snook fished and got a strike on nearly every cast on the full, but usually it's strikeless. As a guide once told me "tide is everything", but it's different for different species. Case in point, me and my comrades Cuda fish on the last 10 minutes of the incoming tide, prior to that is rare to see them. This is the most elusive fish I have encountered, you can easily go for a month and not catch one.

How Does He Do It?
Did he have a 30 mph wind behind him? 70 yds with a crankbait is a long way, if he was using a hopkins spoon I would believe it, I cast spoons that distance and more, but not into the wind..... There are guys on the west coast using surf rods and avet reels casting 450-600',so I've read, totally different equipment and totally different kind of fishing.

Moon Phases Affecting Fish
I pick the new moon over the full, I just seem to do better then. In brackish or salt the tide and sunrise or sunset has much more of an impact on peak fishing times.

Help settle a bet.
I fish my community pond nearly everyday and pretty much use the same zoom fluke. I catch fish every day regardless of the color I'm using. Bass are pretty simple to catch.

Fishing Shoes
Footwear is something I seldom buy on line due to 1 very bad arch, also size will vary with manufacture. I hit on Teva boat shoe that fit me nicely, 1 pair for boats and another for shore walking. For beach it's either Columbia sandals or Crocs.

300 Pound Marlin Tows Kayak 11 MILES
On my saltwater forum there are quite a few kayakers, I've met some in person. Being towed by a good size fish is a common story.

Max wind you'll fish in..?
These days my boat fishing is only done in the ocean, we have a 24' sea fox, bit small for my taste. The wind is a secondary issue, the main issue is the chop, I do not enjoy anything over 6' anymore. I think it's easier to handle a bigger chop in the ocean, the waves roll more and are further apart....inland or gr lakes can be more treacherous.

Is it Bad to Leave Rods in the Hot Summer Heat Inside a Car?
It depends on the adhesive being used. I've had golf clubs in my trunk for days on end her in Florida, never a problem....epoxy is used and probably more than 95% of the time it's for life.

Kastmaster for Bass?
On windy days in the surf I like a Kastmaster, Hopkins or diamond jig, excellent distance. For bass my preference is a Wahoo redfish spoon or a Mepps spoon, I use the saltwater version because the gold stays shiny, freshwater version seems to dull.

Worst time hooking yourself
- Man!!! It don't get much better....
Great Pic !!!!- Split Grip or Full Grip whats your preference?
I have 1 split grip rod that I use for inshore saltwater. It's fine for handling those small fish under 10# but when you have a bruiser on that you have to walk down the beach because it's spooling out 50-100 yards of line, I like the rod butt under my armpit. The split grip is fine if you are in one spot with butt resting on your hip. The actual casting split vs full makes no difference to me. Many surf rods now are built not split but a very thin butt.........I don't like them.- Flying fish.
If you are interested in using flies, try employing drop fly rig. used very effectively inshore saltwater fishing I've used this technique bass fishing..........you just may get a double header, I did. best diagram I could make quickly - Man!!! It don't get much better....
