  1. Nice fish, very nice...........I may be going out today, can't decide offshore or hunt tarpon from the beach.
  2. I have owned a few inexpensive outfits that perform as well today as they did when I first bought them. IMO it's how often and where you fish that equipment, open water and average fish of 1-4# you are not taxing your equipment too hard. Pulling fish constantly out of the slop and targeting larger prey I would definitely upgrade to better equipment. Boils down to how often and how hard you fish.
  3. i have thought many times that these tubes would be good for muskie, pretty sure the muskie haven't seen them. This style tube can be purchased, we make them this way too.
  4. All my fishing is done early morning, 4-9 am, late afternoon bite may be better but I never get out then. That spot is Boynton.
  5. Never tried it until a few days ago, been catching barracuda with muskie figure 8 technique using surgical tubes that I make.
  6. Having a " dress " pair of glasses with a new script is not a good idea if still using your old glasses. One should have all new or stick with all old, if only slightly changed. I wear progressives as well but the type of prescription is really irrelevant.
  7. I have PP on about 15 spinning outfits, no b/c, fade yes, dye wear off and make a mess.......never.
  8. This is what guys name Snook normally catch ;D
  9. For the extra $15.00 buy new...........warranty I don't care to buy anything used.
  10. I would prefer to remove the hook. If the fish lives that's great, but if not I don't want another fish or bird swallowing that hook. A good chance that fish is a meal before the hook has a chance to rust out.
  11. I use duolocks only because I've gotten lazy, I can tie a loop knot nearly as fast. I use the same size 3/4" for bass as well as snook, jack and tarpon. I have seen no reduction in lure action loop vs duolock.
  12. PP......... priced right, available almost anywhere, doesn't fail me. I've used others, but always come back to PP.
  13. I using nothing but Power Pro, other very good braided lines out there as well. I fish mostly 15 or 20# inshore ocean, with lots of coral reefs and rocks where I fish, I can't remember losing a fish due to line breakage, this stuff is excellent. Not to say I haven't been cut off fishing from sea walls moving over barnacles, but any line will cut.
  14. I have caught some very large bass in brackish canals in SE Florida. Not targeting bass but they are there, imo you have to fish the tide in those areas, I like high outgoing.
  15. Class actions suits are nothing new in cases of stock ownership. I want to thank you guys, the American taxpayer, and GM for settling their suit and sending me a check last week.
  16. I have an Avet MXJ, step higher than the sx, I love it. I use mine for fish up to sailfish, definitely too big for bass. Avets are popular in California and as I've read guys surf fish with these reels and can cast them up to 600'..WOW! I magged mine, but since have removed the mags. All you need for yellowtail is 5-8000 spinning reel on a 10/20 rod, lighter if you are freelining. Magging an avet http://www.getbentsportfishing.com/helpful/tips-and-tricks/magging-an-avet-mxj/
  17. DON'T START SMOKING !!!!!!!!! They actually make a singeing tool, but I didn't think it was worth the money.
  18. Not a new trick, saltwater captains have been doing this for years, that's where I learned it. I use a cigarette to singe the end of braid, puts a little nib on it, knots do not pull though. I do use a leader ( and swivel) with my braid so I don't do it as often as you.
  19. Went offshore with 3 of my friends, dead calm and no drift, took awhile to find some current but when we did, WOW! It was the day of the bonita, biggest all of us had ever seen, we had 3 or 4 on the line many times. Almost every time we hooked one there was a pack of bullsharks cutting us off......big guys it was a little scary as we were only in a sea fox 24'. Several times we had to run them down as 27# of drag could not stop them. All in all we landed about 25 and cut off more times than I can count. The early morning calm Average catch
  20. Nice pea.......Palm beach county is not producing them for me at this time........Not doing much freshwater now.
  21. I would not under estimate the eyesight of a bass in muddy water,.........arkansas shiner fluke has been working well. My canals force me to fish weedless.
  22. I'm not sure whether it's Zorro or Robin Hood that holds the record for the most movies based on the character, this is one I didn't need to see. IMO it was slow and boring, the last 20 minutes weren't too bad. When it comes to Robin Hood movies I pick Errol Flynn still the reigning champ, some of younger members may never have seen that film. Kevin Costner's Robin Hood movie I thought was pretty good.
  23. I don't buy rods based on opinions and generally don't give them, my rod decisions are based as I see them performing in real time, I'm going to make an exception. Couple months ago my buddy, Poonman, he's a tarpon fisherman, bought a Tsunmi airwave, I watched him catch fish over 10-20#, I played with it and loved the rod. I pulled the trigger and bought an 8' 8/17 spinning and it's awesome. Another friend saw mine and he in turn bought a 7' 8/17 spinning and he's in love as well. This rod is feather light, casts a mile, sensitive, not that we need that here, and has been handling fish so far up to 30#, bigger would be no problem. Tsunami makes traditional casting and spinning, inshore, off shore boat and surf rods. Very reasonably priced and worth a look.
  24. 1. Emulating pros with multiple rigs. 2. Switching lures and techniques too fast... patience. 3. Overworking a bait.....slow down, don't get hyper. 4. Overspending.....reels and rods are only tools, they will not not catch more fish, if inexperienced. 5. No magic bullet, all lures will catch fish if given a chance. 6. Find the bait, you'll find the fish, up to you to entice a strike. 7. Relax and just let it flow, happens when it happens, take the pressure of yourself and just have fun. 8. Almost all fish do only 2 things, eat and reproduce, don't over analyze. I fish both fresh and salt, 1 rod and no more than 3 or 4 lures with me, I keep it real simple and I catch nice fish everyday.
