  1. I take my son every year and my father comes along more often than not. We have been to Reelfoot, Bull Shoals, Table Rock, Santee Cooper, Guntersville twice, Lake Toho, KY Lake 1/2 dozen times, Lake Shelbyville, Rend Lake, and Door County been going for 40 years. We fish 10-12 hours a day, nothing else. The ol' lady will go to Door County on occasion because my folks have a summer home hence the accommodations are nicer than the dumps we normally stay at and she can shop. In answer to your question, it's Door Co. this year. I've had some health issues so I don't want to make any long term plans I may have to change. I can just pack up and go to Door Co. whenever.
  2. Whatever works. I still throw Senkos although not as often as I used to. They are versatile and they catch fish. To not throw them because it's "cheating" is stupid.
  3. Have you tried contacting major boat mfgs or motor mfgs or electronics mfgs or trolling motor mfgs or BPS or Cabelas etc? You may be able to attract more anglers than having Joebobs Bait and Tackle as a sponsor. The club I fish has contingency programs with many sponsors. Basically what that is, 1st place gets "bonus" money if they are using and advertising the companies product. Power Pole who is a sponsor of this site has such a program http://www.power-pole.com/JLMarine/ProStaff/CaptainsCash.aspx and you may want to contact them to find out how your club can participate. I think most of the major boat mfgs also have similar programs. Legend Boats will give 10k to a first place winner driving and advertising a 2013 Legend Bass Boat. We have a sunglasses company and a fishing jersey company doing something similar.
  4. In my neck of the woods batteries freezing would be more of a concern than a slight drain. I pull them every winter and top off the charge monthly but as long as there is no drain, the batteries lose very little charge.
  5. I've got 2 flipping sticks. a new HMG and an older HMG/AV and couldn't be happier with either. Great rods for the money. Neither has ever broken, never even broke a tip and even accidently stepped on another HMG(non flipping stick) without any negative effects. Enough sensitivity and backbone to do what I need it to do. I have them both paired up with Ardent F500 and Samuari 55lb braid. The HMG/AV is the #1 rod in my arsenal and I use it strictly for jigs. I recently bought the new one for punch rigs, but have only been throwing jigs so far as the ice just melted. I have been slowly changing the entire arsenal over to Fenwick an now have 6 or 7 rods. EDIT The telescopic handles are nice it your rod locker isn't long enough
  6. The fish ID also ID's false returns and interference as fish and either gives false hope, or is quite annoying if it is constantly beeping
  7. and the Fox Chain is officially closed to boat traffic
  8. Anglers Choice has cancelled the tourney on the 21st and rescheduled for the 28th due to water conditions on the Fox Chain.
  9. BREAKING NEWS They've arrested somebody
  10. Homegrown or not, no amount of preparation will ever have us prepared for acts of terrorism. No amount of technology can protect us from this primitive warfare..Under no circumstances should we give up our constitutional rights for a false sense of security.
  11. The Guard can't break you but a couple of kids and a broad...well... I don't have any constructive advice for you except it takes time and getting used to. Once you get over your ex it will clear up your head a lot and things will be easier to deal with. Take these words to heart, they explain a lot:: "All women are crazy and all men are stupid" If you can keep your stupid and her crazy in check, you will be much better off.
  12. Not all pros get sponsor boats. Many of them buy their own albeit at dealer cost. You'd be surprised, or maybe not, the amount of fishermen, pros and amateurs, who have undergone back surgery.
  13. If it wasn't for you no one would keep me in line. I'd of been banned years ago
  14. Mark, I just talked with the guy who came in first. He said if the weigh in was at 3 and not 3:30 there would have been zero fish weighed in. He and the 2nd place team caught the 3 fish on the same shoreline after 3 pm. I have a tourney on Sunday depending on water levels. If they stay where they're at it will be a 'no wake" tourney. If they rise they may close the waterway and reschedule for the 28th.
  15. Rhino, Check in that you are ok
  16. Another explosion at the JFK library in the area
  17. 2 separate explosions about a block away from each other
  18. 2 dead and 22 injured as of now
  19. Waves and swells are 2 completely different animals. I would rather drive on top of 3ft waves than be beaten to death in 3ft swells.
  20. The entire Fox Chain is No Wake as of today due to flood conditions. We were out yesterday in the 30mph winds and caught the skunk. Water temps 39-43. There was a tourney going on in which I did not participate Out of 25 boats, 2 boats weighed in a total of 3 fish. The winner was paid out 1st and 3rd places with big bass and the 2nd boat was paid out 2nd and 4th. The team who won walked away with almost a grand. Not too shabby for a 4.66 bag.
  21. I released the final word into the bowl the day after I ate the pizza
  22. Lund 2010 Predator. I just bought one for the same reasons. Princecraft also makes a nice big water boat. Here's my rig. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/114255-pics-of-the-new-rig/?hl=+pics and a couple promo videos. http://youtu.be/8Z0CodkhhZM http://youtu.be/KhSeiBB9-S0 I've had it out 3 times. Twice for the motor break in and yesterday for fishing. Wind's blowing 15-20 with 30mph gusts. It handled well. I haven't been on Lake Michigan yet but will be within the month.
  23. Did they give you extra for the scratch you added? A guy I fish against has an LCB. The deck is reminiscent of an aircraft carrier. It's HUGE.
