  1. I live in Beebe, and fish Greers Ferry, Barnett, and Maumelle. I am still learing all these lakes, but I have been successufl on Greers Ferry with Chartruese, Sexy Shad, and Green Pumpkin colors. Barnett and Maumelle about the same with craw colors for Maumelle. This year I want to fish the Arkansas river Big Bass Bonanza. I will probably fish the area around Little Rock/North Little Rock/Maumelle area.
  2. I live in Beebe. I was excited to move here from New Mexico about 3 yrs ago. I don't know how big of water you like to fish, but I fish Lake Barnett, Brewer and a few other smaller lakes compared to Greers Ferry which I fish as well. Fishing is usally really good.
  3. Huge Colts fan here, I was at that game. I spent big money on tickets and for them to just quit in the third quarter was BS. Apparently they havent learned from history. I have a bad feeling we will be one and done yet again.
  4. My dad got me in to fishing, but it was mostly for "whatever would bite". I would try to bass fish as a kid, but was very uneducated about it. After the Air Force, I got stationed in South Ga, I met a guy named Robert Smith, who educated me on bass fishing, that tied in with hours of reading books and magazines, and watching many fishing shows. And I realize I still don't know much about it
  5. Anyone know of a reliable/reasonable boat mechanic in Central Arkansas? I need some carbuertor work. Any help would be great.
  6. Has anyone fished the Paradise PFA lately? I used to fish there a lot when I was stationed at Moody, but have since moved. I will be there this weekend and am looking to see how things are there.
  7. I remember them talking about in the boater safety course I took, maybe not mandatory but highly recommended
  8. Most states have minimum equipment such as life jackets, fire extinguisher, oar, horn etc.
  9. I put my depthfinder on my jon boat I put the transducer on the TM and have a the screen on a piece of wood with velcro. That way I can take it off the boat since I load it in the back of my truck. My TM is a bow mount.

The craws I have seen alive then dried up have not changed colors, so I would say it wouldnt hurt to try some blue ones.
  11. I tie a rubber band around my line and push the weight over it, it keeps the weight pegged and will break away if needed to fight a fish its cheap and easy
  12. Buzzbait has be my fav followed by floating worm and then Jitterbug
  13. No problem thats wear I look for places to fish when I get sent to TX for a long period time
  14. Good rule of thumb with clear water is natural colors and smaller lures
  15. That really sucks, hope the insurance covers it. Man, Other peoples kids!
  16. Heres a link that will help http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/recreational/lakes/inhillco.phtml
  17. I use a Humminbird 565 it works great for both shallow and deep, it is about $199
  18. I like to fish C-rig almost year round, I like to use it a search tool. I rig it up with 2 beads adds a little extra clicking, I also like to use a slinky weight when fishing lakes with lots of hang-ups on the bottom. I prefer to use the strike king 3x plastics because they float. I began using the C-rig while fishing the shallower lakes in Ga, but have learned to use in the lakes here in Ar to fish much deeper. Its a very versitile rig.
  19. At Baghdad, there are several ponds around Saddams palaces, I fished in the pond behind his daughters house, but there are several.
  20. If you go to Baghdad do some fishing in the ponds around Saddams palaces, they have some fish there that are a lot like LM. Im sure I will be over there soon too.
  21. I have a front deck on my 14 ft jon, with bow mounted TM, I usually fish alone so I put all the batts in the back of the boat to balance the weight. The boat is very stable.
  22. I had been having a problem with my 91 Merc 40hp, where after a couple of outings during long runs it would go from doing about 30mph to only doing about 8. I would change out the fuel pump diaphrams and it would be back in business. I did this a couple times over the last couple of years, I lived in New Mexico until I moved to Arkansas last summer, so I didnt take the boat out much due to high gas prices and the long distance. Any way, I have been able to take my boat out more here, and discovered the motor started acting up after just having changed the diaphrams in Oct, so after some thought and seeing if they even made the fuel pump for my engine any more I kept coming across the fuel pump rebuilding kit, which I had already purchased two. I realized that I didnt need to change out the diaphrams but the spring with the cap in the fuel pump. I could feel a difference with the springs just by feel, I replaced the spring and put the pump back together. When I pumped the primer bulb I already noticed a huge difference in how quick it pumped up. It started right up without any throttle movement. So I guess if there are two points to this story 1. Its amazing how the little things can make such a big difference 2. If its in a kit maybe you should replace it when you are replacing the other parts. I would have to say lesson learned.
  23. I have a similar problem as the first with my 91 Merc 40hp. I am going the same route as you, so I would say you are going the right direction. Start the cheapest and the easiest and start eliminating things.
