  1. Great trip!
  2. All good ideas! I would suggest, based on the depth of the canal, that you use caution placing anything in an area where it might hinder boat traffic. Also, cover does not have to always be vertical (up & down). Again, given the depth I would consider making the cover more horizontal.
  3. Absolutely! Jig it, slow roll it, jerk it, yo-yo it..... Fish it just about any way you can think of. For me, the spinnerbait is the most versitle lure in my box!..... Be ready for the strike when you are allowing the bait to sink to the bottom!
  4. Congrats to your Dad!..... The best part of this story is that you're able to fish with your Dad!
  5. Great looking fish..... Nice dark coloring!
  6. Not a bad thing to see cruising around your backyard. Although this morning I did see a TON of small Largemouth cruising in schools around on one of the other lakes in my development. Small meaning probably around 10 inches or so, hopefully they grow into maturity soon.. ;D ;D I would have to say they are yellow perch, not bass.
  7. Ouch! Glad no one was hurt! I hope her insurance is valid!
  8. The rule of thumb for HP is.... Minimum of 90% of the hull rated HP. If it's rated for 100Hp, then go no lower than 90Hp.... If it's rated for 125 Hp, then go no lower than 112.5 Hp (or the closest available).
  9. Good looking fish!.... Did you get my personal message I sent you?
  10. Very cool! I didn't expect the banjos!
  11. Can't count it...... Doesn't look anything like a crappie!
  12. Good looking fish!
  13. I'm going to advise you to go in the opposite direction. Go late afternoon when the sun has had a chance to warm up a shallow flat. Try throwing a suspending jerbait with NO exagerated movements and LONG pauses. The strike will be subtle and probably feel like a slight tick on the pause. Good luck!
  14. I would stick with the jerkbait. Fish it slow and without any aggressive actions. With water that cold I like to fish it with my reel, not my rod. Most strikes will come on the stop, leave it dead more than you normally would. And, it doesn't hurt to put an attractant on.
  15. Not only the bank beaters. This little fellow wanted a ride in the boat.
  16. I agree, 21" equates to about 5lbs.
  17. Now that's what I'm talking about!
  18. Awesome catch Dan!.... Aren't those dogwoods perrty!
  19. You did the right thing! Healthy looking fish.
  20. Maybe they're playing tag? :-/
  21. It's actually Skeeter Cyan Green..... I let my wife pick out the "pretty colors"..... part of the purchase deal at the time.
