  1. I tried it w/o the balls, and with one today. I'm going to try it with both in there tomorrow. I hope it works. I thought that you wanted to make swimbaits look as if it is a fish just going for a casual swim, or when bass are bedding - raiding a bed.
  2. I have a Tru Life Bluegill, and can't get it to swim straight unless I reel it real fast. When reeling in slowly, it swims almost on it's side. Here is the gear I'm using: 7'6" M Falcon Lowrider XG - I'ts the best I can do until I get Familiar with swimbaits. St. Croix Avid AC200 reel with 12" Yo Zuri Hybrid I wanted to use the gear I already have; to avoid pleasing the bait monkey, so here is what I have. If anything i have will help, please let me know. 3. I sometimes use a regular Jan-Sport backpack, when beating the bank. It holds a cuple of boxes, and some other stuff you mught need.
  4. TW has the flippin stick, and the dropshot rods. They look ok and are priced right. I'll probably pick one up to try it. I have a Bucoo and love it, so rods in this price point can be good.
  5. I was determined to catch fish with jigs this year, and today I caught TWO. I used an Eakins 5/16 jig with a summer craw paca chunk with the first fish, and then a front pulled in and I switched to a 3/8 black and blue booyah with a black and blue chunk. The fish I caught were larger than the fish I normally pull out of the lake I was at. Is that normal, or did I just get lucky? My question is, do I stick with the craws for trailers or go with a large grub like a Fat Albert when the water cools?
  6. Flouro sinks more than mono. Braid is very sensitive, some people use a flouro leader with plastics, some just use braid.
  7. I have a 7MH lowrider, and recently picked up a 7MH Bucoo. It is a little softer, but prefer it for weightless t-rigs and lighter jignpigs. IMO if you're used to stouter rods; you could call it extra medium fast ( i think they call it mag medium, not sure.) For a bill, it is a great rod for me, but I don't really use the stouter rods much anyways.
  8. I fish a shallower slow moving river and have been doing good with craws and tubes. I look for pools, rocks, and other structure where the fish can take a break from the current. I cast past it, and then try to bring it in front of it.
  9. I don't have a mag touch, but did get an XML for dirty-dirty cheap last month. I am sold on Cabelas rods, as they do not feel like I'm fishing with a mop like BPS rods. I can't say I'll pay MSRP for them, but will buy more of them next year when they go on sale again.
  10. I have been saving for an airbrush kit for awhile to do this. I want to paint mine camoflauge.
  11. I had been reading reviews for awhile. And yours had me sold on them. I own 3 Lowriders and love 'em, but was on a budget, and picked up the 7' MH. If it is even close to the LR's downgrading may be in order.
  12. I'm experimenting with the reels I already have, but am starting with a St. Croix AC250. I'm unsure about the line. I was thinking 40# Fireline Tracer, will that work?
  13. I have an old school phenix boron crankbait rod that is great. When I use medium sized cranks/ lipless cranks this is the rod I use. My Falcon LR CB rod is now my spinnerbait rod. 2 years and counting, still hauling in the piggies.
  14. Haha, you must have worked for the BIG Three in the 80's and 90's.
  15. Are you gettin this rod at a store, or from a friend?
  16. LOL Or your local tackle shop, if they clean reels.
  17. I like to fish at a local lake in Berea - 15 min. from my house, and it sees alot of pressure for a community lake. I only fish weightless flukes, stickbaits, and trickworms on it now. I look for structure/spots that they may hold and toss it out there, shake-wiggle-shake-wiggle, and blammo. This tactic works good for me on that lake.
  18. This sounds stupid, but if you want to make it fatter, you could buy the padding you put on pipes to keep from freezing on the handle and wrap that with grip tape. Or pick up the no skid grip tape, and the wrap it with the grips fom BPS.
  19. I had a premier for 5 days, I took it out and the next day traded it to my buddy for his STX.
  20. Guilty!
  21. That is a sweet tatter by the way.
  22. It's pretty common for guys to cast with their dominant hand, and then switch to reel in ( Right handed person casts w/ right hand, switchws to left to reel with right hand). For a long time left handed baitcasters were limited, and people just got used to it. I know some right handed guys who switched to left handed reel baitcasters and are more comfortable with it now, but it took some time getting used to it. I would suggest buying a right and a left hand baitcaster cheap on ebay and trying it out for your own personal preferrence.
  23. I love that reel, it is great for the $. I am more partial to the SX's, but still use the S for alot of apps.
  24. I don't use DD22's much up here, but when I go to Georgia a lake I fish I use SPRO deep divers. I use a St. Croix Avid AC200 and a Falcon Lowrider 7'6" M BC rod. I know a MH rod would be better, but this is the longest rod I have and don't have any problems w it.
  25. TW rocks! I bought a rod, and some lures from them around fathers day. Three days later my order arrived and they still gave me free shipping with a multiple order ship. I will buy stuff from BPS sometimes, but only if I am in the area of one ( The nearest BPS is 1.5 hrs. away), but will only order from TW and Cabelas online in that order.
