  1. The rods are reasonably priced at $99-109. I am contemplating getting one to check it out. The reel, I can't find for sale anywhere. All I'm finding are the news releases. They may not be available yet. Another option for camoflauge rods is Castaway, they have two versions with a few more paterns $119 and $299
  2. 6'6' Med XF Shimano Compre $100 spinning Powell Max 683c $139 Falcon Bucoo are great for $100-110 TW has free shipping on orders over $50, and there was a 20% off over Tday weekend. Also look for after holidays sales, and ebay.
  3. I love these spinnerbaits, they aren't as fancy looking as some, but hold up great, run true and have great components. I also have Strike King, Terminator, and Booyah's too, but always tie a Screaming Eagle on if it's windy, or a Finnesse when the bite gets tough. I did buy some Rattleback spinnerbaits, but am waiting till spring to throw them.
  4. I caught this pig on an Eakins jig with a Paca craw. ;D
  5. I have 3 Lowriders, but not split grips. They are awesome rods for the price. The split grips would just be a tad lighter, than traditional grips.
  6. Ditto, plus you have to be aware of shipping. Some guys will sell a used $300 combo for 150, but charge $50 for shipping. Just be patient and the deals will present themselves. And don't bid on anything until you get a good idea on what they might be worth. Last Dec. I got a G.Loomis Spinnerbait rod w/ a Revo S in mint cond. for $125 plus $10 for shipping. Just be patient, and research first, and the deals will come.
  7. I had tried to make an order, and picked out the Premier tuuesdat night. I was paying with 3 gift cards my wife got me, but at checkout it would only let me use one gift card. They were closed at the time I called, so by the time I called on wed. they were already sold out. So if you are paying with more than one gift card you have to call them. When I called, I just did the order by phone, and they had no problem with the multiple gift cards. So I was kind of bummed , but as stated above I did get the new STX instead. Lesson learned I guess.
  8. There was a thread last week about the Revo STX on sale at Gander Mountain for $99.00, For black friday. The sale is also online and you don't have to go to the store to get one, plus free shipping. It cost me $106 and change with tax.
  9. I have that rod, and it is great for jigs with grubs, wacky rigging, weightless senkos, tubes, shakey heads. I don't use for T-rigs because it doesn't seem stout enough for me. It is very sensitive, light, and it doubles for my Walleye/Perch rod. For $110 you can't beat it. The Bucoo is a great rod in that price range too, but for spinning I'd go with the Compre. You will not be dissappointed.
  10. I just took full advantage of this, and saved almost $75 smackers on my order. In other words, $75 in extra gear. I am pumped, and can't wait to get my order.
  11. If your talking about the limited edition colors, try Dick's, or find a local tackle shop that carries alot of Zoom products.
  12. I have used it, and for the price it is very good.
  13. I use a 6'3" Cabelas XML MF baitcast rod for topwaters, and jerkbaits, with 12lb. Trilene XL. I love the spook at night at smaller pressured local lakes, works like a champ.
  14. I'm a bankbeater, and use a kayak, so having a bunch of rods is more of an inconveience. I bring two with me. 1 spinning and 1 7' MH for baitcast. You, on the other hand have a boat. So go get it you will be happy with it. And the Compre is a great rod for the money, I use a 6'6" MXF Compre for my spinning rod. Good Luck!
  15. We are going to my mother in laws for T day. She has a Gander close by, and I was going to go when they open at 3 on thursday. If anyone wants one hit me up. I just don't know how many my wife will let me throw on the plastic.
  16. Baitcasting I use a Avid 6'6 MF wi30th a Revo SX on it. 30lb. Sonic braid with a 10lb leader. Spinning I got a 6'6" MXF Compre with Symetre 2500 with 8lb. Invizx Tubes I use Poor Boys, Coffee tubes, Shuberts I hop them on the bottom, or swim hop it back.
  17. You can use a 6'3" spinning rod the same way you can use a 6'6" rod. You will lose a little leverage, but not by much. I'd use it for spinnerbaits, light jigs w/ grubs, tubes, and any light apps.
  18. I haven't noticed any difference and i'm usually pretty messy with the super glue. ;D Thanks for your input.
  19. I have been using Fat Albert grubs on small Bitsy Bugs. I've been thinking about gluing, but wasn't sure if the glue would give a bad scent. Just wanted to see if anyone did this too.
  20. I have 4 Revos. I like the Revo STX and SX, but do not like the S. And am looking to spend 100-140 for a reel.
  21. Go up to the store and feel them out. I'd check out the 7 Med. I have the 6'10" MH and use it for traps every now and then, and it is servicable.
  22. Shimano Compre 6'6" Med XF $99 Shimano Sahara 2500 $80 That's $180 for a solid combo + TW has free shipping St. Croix Avid 6'6" Med XF/F $169 Shimano Symetre 2500 $100 These are what I use, and think they are good to go.
  23. i have the 6'6" Med XF Compre, and for $109 at TW's It is a great rod, and you will be very pleased.
  24. I've made up my mind on my next rod, but was curious as to thoughts on the reel. Powell 683c with a Citica. I know there are better reels out there, but for just over a bill, it looks intriguing. Your guys opinions?
  25. For spinning I'd use 6-8lb co-poly Baitcasting 12lb pline CXXX Those combos should cover just about everything, and the Compre is a great rod for the price.
