  1. Where do you get the clear liquid nails, and how long does it take to dry.
  2. You can put a matte clear over it. I have been doing this for a long time. Just remember matte finish is not flat finish. If you want more info PM me and I can help you out.
  3. Thanks for all the feedback guys.
  4. On the shad pattern skirt, both colors are from fishing skirts.com The color is Living Image #253 Blue Shad (2 tabs) and (4) strands of Solid Red #196. The head was powder painted with 5 colors ( pearl, white, beige, text. silver and black, followed by blue glitter coat and then a clear coat.
  5. Thanks for the compliment GMAN
  6. One on the left is a shad pattern for a lake in Arkansas. One on the right is a match for a pumpkin seed pattern. One on the bottom is a blk/blu mop jig. Let me know what you guys think.
  7. Isn't that purple the same as FS.com #268 Muscadine?

Forget the tumbler, for tarnished dull blades, I use toothpaste.
  9. I totally agree with JIG Man. I have tried all kind of variations as well in the past. If you want excellent looking painted jigs, with straight weedguards, glue them in after the jigs are painted and baked.
  10. First of all I would put an accurate oven thermometer in your oven. Just because the dial says 400 degrees doesn't mean it's 400 degrees. It could actually be baking at 450 or 350. That's step #1. Step #2. If you have too much paint on the jig and you bake it, paint will run down forming tear drops or nipples. Step #3. If you are getting bubbling paint in your toaster oven, it is way too hot. You will have to turn it down, put it on toast, or get another oven. Check your temp at all these setting with a thermometer. Finally yes you can use these jigs. They may be unsightly but the fish don't care. If you are going to sell them or give them to a friend and you are ashamed of them. Strip them down and re-paint them and bake again. We all have to learn somewhere. Keep trying you will get it down and in no time you will be pro at it. Practice makes perfect. Just my 2 cents worth.

Nothing wrong with those. Very nice looking jigs and nice color combinations. Keep up the good work.
  12. On your epoxying the weedguards. I assume you are using D2T. How do you keep your weedguards from leaning to one side? I do not use a full weeedguard any thoughts?
  13. Yes the white stuff you refer to is the vapors from cyanoacrylate in the super glue. You should be able to wipe it off after a day of drying. I use Loctite Gel Super Glue and 2 part epoxy
  14. I can't speak for their powder paint but their other products are good. I know the price is high compared to another brand and they don't have the selection. If you want more info PM me.
  15. Yes there is. Do-It Mold Co. Model #FBB-4H-AFM #FBB-3M-AFM They both take flat eye hooks If you need more info you can PM me
  16. Very nice tutorial. I will have to agree with you 100% on the Cutco knives. I have two of their fillet knives, and when I get my blades back from there sharpening, I can shave the hair off of my arm with the blade. It is that sharp. Excellent knives
  17. I have the cousin version to that mold and it works well. What fish species are you going for? The reason I ask is that the hook it uses is more of an aberdeen hook. Also when you go to buy those hooks, make sure you get the Hook that says 1623 CR. The CR stands for crimped. If you do not get the CR hook the hook will eventually rotate in the lead jig head making it pretty much useless. If you need more help PM me as I think there are better stand up molds for different species of fish.
  18. Definitely nice jigs. See and you said you can't dress up a plain old jig head. Very nice. :)
  19. Very nicely done. Second from the top is my favorite.
  20. Thanks for the compliments guys. For everyone's information, I can not and will not sell these because I am not authorized and licensed to do so. With that said you can make your own for personal use if you would like. It roughly took about 10 hours to do each spinnerbait from start to finish. I can post a rough step by step on how to do it if you would like. It is not difficult, but very time consuming. Delaware Valley Mike Yes that is clear decal paper.
  21. Here are some spinnerbaits I made for my cousin for an X-mas gift. Enjoy. These are not for sale
  22. Cadman, I read many of your posts here and at TU. Thanks for all you have shared with everyone. John, I've been doing this for about going on 8 years, and I've tried to help all of those that ask. As you know there is a wealth of knowledge on TU as well. I'm glad to be of some help. My avatar is a 6 color powder paint spinnerbait with an additional glitter coat and a clearcoat, so anything is possible if you practice a lot. When you get a chance post some pics. I will post some pics of some spinnerbaits I made for my cousin of the (5) major sports teams in Chicago
  23. Very good documentation. This will help a lot of newbies and a reminder for more experienced jig makers that use powder paint.
  24. I assume you are using Pro-Tec powder paints. Pro-Tec lists a temp for every colors they make. You can follow that if you want. I have been powder painting for 8 years and unless you are making items for the government with strict guidelines I find that you can paint them all with one temperature. I use 325 degrees for 20 minutes, since I put on sometimes 6 different colors from 6 different manufacturers.
  25. Nice paint job Barry.
