has all the wallmarts quit handling 30 min devcon
Yes, Walmart does not and will not carry it anymore. There are still alot of hardware stores that still carry it. Ace, True Value, but you won't get it for $2. Here is a thread posted on here with good info. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1234467120

Spinnerbait or Crankbait
My favorite spinnerbait is my own. I pour and paint my own this way I can customize, my color, weight, blades and skirt color to what I want, which is unavailable at the store. My crankbait of choice is Husk Jerk in spring and the Shad Rap, Berkley Frenzy and Bandit throughout the rest of the year.

Which is Cheaper? making lures or buying them?
That's funny but true. bassmaster3000. Depends on how you look at it. It is alway cheaper to buy. But if you want a custom color or a one of kind lure, and you would love to catch fish on your own creation, then definitely make it. You will get satisfaction beyond compare, when you catch a fish on a lure that you've made. However it is costly to start out

Hand Tying Jigs?
I use 3/0 flat waxed thread. I use a whip finish to tie my jigs and spinnerbaits, and then cover the thread with fly tying cement or D2T. If you want more help PM me.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you have a 40 strand weedguard, it was meant for 5/32" base hole pin. It will not fit as is in a Poison Tail mold. Most of the molds take 1/8" base hole pins. Just take the 40 strand weedguard, and take some strands off of it and then stick it in the jig. As far as skirts go , go to fishingskirts.com and they have every color imaginable to make your color choice. If you need more help you can also PM me.

Painting bullet weights?
That's what I use also, and then I clearcoat it with an epoxy. Works great for me.

Very nice clean work.

Fluxing when pouring jig heads
Paraffin works really well also, I just have easier access to bees wax.

Devcon on line
Yes, D2T is still available pretty much everywhere, its just that Wal-Mart doesn't carry it. I am going to try e-tex. Supposedley it is harder than D2T. I will post my results when I give it a try.

Fluxing when pouring jig heads
I have (3) Lee IV pots, they all leak, they all work extremely well, and you do not have to clean them, but I flux regularly. Any crap or garbage in the lead will float to the top skim it off with a spoon. Any hooks, wire or metal that fall in the pot will float to the top skim off the top with a spoon. Once you get all the crud off. Take some beeswax, drop 4 or 5 pellets and light the smoke. As it is burning mix the light with a spoon , while it is burning. Wait for the smoke burn to die out, and you will have more crap come to the top. Clean off with a spoon. You should never have your pour spout get stuck it has never happened to me. If it gets stuck, take a fat end of a paper clip, and push it slowly into the bottom hole of the spout, while raising the handle, wiggle it around, but be careful, as lead will be pouring out at the same time. Since you use very hard lead, I would flux definitely after everytime you put in new lead. When fluxing, don't stick you head when you light the smoke. A big flame shoots up (about 6"), I don't want you to get burned and blame me.....If you don't understand this please PM me and I will try to explain it better.........................

D2T??
Devcon at Wal-Mart is being replaced by Permatex. Devcon and Permatex are products of ITW. Click on this link, and if you put your zipcode in the upper right corner, it will tell you who carries it in your neighborhood.........Hope this helps. http://devcon.com/products/products.cfm?brandid=1

D2T??
Wal-Mart is not going to carry it anymore. I bought the last 10 tubes by my store. I use Loc-Tite gel super glue, to glue in my weedguards. It has a tendency to wick up, and when it dries, it leaves a white chalky residue. But you can take an old toothbrush, and just brush it out.

Can anyone help??
The correct site is www.barlowstackle.com

can i use automotive paint
Just a note to all over here, Wal-Mart no longer will carry or carries Devcon 2 Ton (D2T). I checked all the Wal-Marts by us and they are discontinuing them. They are being replaced by something else. So if yours still has it you better stock up.

A few swim jigs
I just saw your thread with the pics of your swimbait. Also read that you use automotive paint. Very impressive work, if I may say so myself. BTW, how did you get your avatar so clear. My avatar is flawless on other sites, and here it is grainy. I don't know why?

A few swim jigs
I kind of figured the weedguards were poured in place, very nice. Did you use Createx on your jig? I am slowly going to break into air brushing, just don't have the time lately. I have all the components though. Your lures and paint jobs are beautiful. I originally was starting to get into crankbait building, but again got too busy with jigs.

A few swim jigs
Nice Poison Tails. Definitely different and nice color choices. What do you use to put in your wedguards in and what color is the head on the third one if I might ask?
-
Living Image Jigs
Yeah that's the ticket. I like that, when you first mentioned purple, I was thinking of Pro-Tecs std purple, and then I thought no. But I remember making some jigs with the June Bug color, and they turned out awesome, however I didn't have that skirt, even a candy purple would probably look good. I'm glad the fluid bed worked out for you. Now you are going to be a painting madman. BTW what did you use for the media?
-
Living Image Jigs
I was thinking on the same lines of that bottom jig. A whikey purple skirt, with June bug powder painted jig head.
-
Living Image Jigs
Definitely some nice looking jigs. Those skirts really have a lot of color in them. You can use a pretty wide variety of jig head colors with those skirts.

Anyone make their own fluid bed
You're very welcome, always willing to help those that ask.
