  1. I know this doesn't always apply because it depends on how the bass has been eating, but assuming that this bass is 18 inches long it should be close to 3.36 lbs on average. The girth of this fish looks pretty average to me. Take a look http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/recreational/catchrelease/bass_length_weight.phtml
  2. Great fish! Keep up the good work
  3. Nice fish, I'd give her 3 1/2 lbs.
  4. There she is! A great fish as usual
  5. That sounds like a fine valentine's day present to me! But where's the picture of this monster? I'm used to looking at your posts and doing one of these lol. Regardless congrats on your catch Big-O.
  6. I used to only use spinning gear when I first started fishing for bass, and now I use both. That being said, when it comes to shallow diving cranks or lipless cranks (as long as they're light) I prefer a spinning set-up to a baitcast set-up.
  7. Had the show on my dvr for a about a week, and I finally watched it today. Good show Big-O, and I never thought of using the space monkey on its own. I had been using it as a jig trailer exclusively, but after seeing its action on the show I will definitely be rigging it texas style this year.
  8. Those are some mighty fine largemouth, congrats on your catches
  9. It was a good show, they definitely caught a few "slounches" as Zona would say
  10. I would personally fish this pond with a shakey head set-up, spinnerbait, and any shallow diving crank
  11. Those are both hawgs for sure, nice job!
  12. I love when I can get a day of non-stop action like that, hope you get another one soon
  13. Two in one day had to be a great feeling, WTG!
  14. Nice fish! Congrats on your new pb
  15. Nice catch! I've always wanted to catch a mirror carp, but they've eluded me so far
  16. I've had decent luck with cotton cordells and Rat-L-traps, and for jigs I like to use the strike king pro tour grade jigs paired with a rage chunk. The pond you're fishing gets pretty deep, so I would have a few different size jigs with me. For example 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 oz.... you probably don't need all three, but two of the different weights will help depending on the depth that the fish are holding. I also live in Illinois, and the color green pumpkin works really well for me. Get your jigs and trailers in the same color. For soft plastics I would recommend getting senkos or yum dingers, and wacky rig them weightless. You could also texas rig them and add bullet weights (the bullets weights should be similar in weight to the weight of the jigs I mentioned). For search baits I would stick with lipless cranks, square bill cranks, and spinnerbaits. I hope this helps.
  17. Pretty cool vid, and welcome to the boards
  18. He pretty much nailed everything, so the only thing for me to say is X 2!
  19. I have a 7' MH St. Croix premier cranking rod and it's been great for me thus far. I got it from bass pro for $120
  20. I was able to with the veritas, but the tip of my vendetta ended up at the bottom of the lake and they require the entire rod for replacement Let's just say those two rods breaking made me weary of buying rods from them again, even though they have the 3 year warranty
  21. I've never used a verdict, but I had a 6'6" M vendetta for a while and I loved it until it broke. I also had a 6'6" MH veritas break on me. They were both great while they lasted, and maybe I just had bad luck with them, but I think abu garcia might have a problem with their manufacturing line.
  22. Looks like a great day to me!
