  3. I just got my wpl in the mail and it's so pretty i don't want to use it :-p I put it on a Carrot stix gold 6'3 med fast action feels great.
  4. when stripers are in I use Action Plastics Big Game Shads 4-5 inch with 1oz shad head jig heads. for top water I do really well with white atom poppers. for shad colors I do well with black/white.
  5. Last year I caught over a dozen largemouth bass out of Cobbosseecontee Lake that were over 5 pounds only caught 1 smallmouth that was around 4 pounds. Also caught a 3 pound brown trout. But there's parts of the Androscoggin river that are real good for smallmouths.
  6. Hello I just got a Carrot Gold Stix rod and was wondering where can you purchase weights for the Blank's weight port?
  7. Anybody else seen the giant stingray on yahoo that some guy caught with a rod/reel? :-p
  8. Jenny. Then you could be like "That's my boat" like Forest Gump.
  9. Well you're right the outing thread is under the bass fishing area. but you shouldn't be mean about it. Just cause he enjoys catching koi doesn't mean he cant catch bass. That's like a trout fisher saying oh you catch bass cause you don't have the skills to catch trout. without out knowing what you're capable of catching in the first place. Some people actually like catching other types of fish other then bass. nice koi tho keep it up you actually make me wanna go out and fish for a big carp this year lol. and please don't leave the forum cause of a couple people there are more people here that like you then there is that don't
  10. What's considered a certified scale? do you have to take the fish to a place that has one? or can you buy one and have witnesses?
  11. okay I looked for awhile on my states fish and wildlife site, but i couldn't find my answer. I was wondering what do you do if you catch a state record or even a world record fish. Do you have to kill it and take it in to them to see it? or just take a picture with a bunch of witnesses or something else? I'd rather just let the fish go and be happy that I caught it even if nobody believed me about it. insted of killing it.
  12. I don't know why either, But you haven't upset me none I wish I could catch them fish too lol but they're illegal to even have in Maine. it was you outing so I see why you put it where you did. <shrug>
  13. Gonna use it for smallmouth and largemouth bass also adding pike to my list this year.
  14. Well after bugging all you with questions I decided to go with the Abu Garcia stx. And my girlfriend decided she's buy the rod to go with it which I chose to get St. Croix Legend Tournament 6'6 Medium power fast action. now all that's left is fishing line. any suggestions? Thanks
  15. I always had good luck while fishing in the rain. I remember one time I was out striper fishing with my dad during a thunderstorm. we couldn't even see the water a foot from the boat and we were just dropping our lines a foot or 2 in the water and we were pulling fish after fish. Also did great ice fishing during snowstorms.
  16. didn't have a tape measure but i used my boot which is about 12-13inches I'll be sure to get pictures if i get a big one this spring it's gonna be nice cause the spot they were catching them in is one of the first places for the ice to go out that's near me. So I'll be out there day 1 of the fishing season :-p
  17. great i'm making enemies for bringing up a good worm :-o and i haven't been here long
  18. yea no stores around me have them either. I kinda just raid my dads tackle boxes for them cause he has a few hundred of them from back in the day and doesn't fish much anymore cause his back is gone so it hurts him a lot to do things which sucks, he was the only fishing buddy I had that could beat me at fishing now i'm teaching my girlfriend all i know about fishing that i learned from my father. She's hooked now that she's caught a couple 4pound bass along with her first striper she got last year
  19. I'm not the smartest when it comes to these but I been looking at alot of them lately cause I was looking to buy a BC myself I did come across a reel for aorund the price you're looking at and it seems pretty good to me but i'm no expert it's a Pflueger Trion. But i can tell you i have a Pflueger spinning for both my saltwater and my latest bass rods and i like them alot.
  20. Just curious, how many of you use these? I do and I actually do pretty well using them for largemouth bass. and they don't cost that much

Well a river I used to fish in for smelt isn't that good this year cause the pike have moved in and are pushing them out. We used to be able to catch over 1k smelt a night easy now you cant get more the a couple dozen. So people started fishing for pike on the ice. I went down to check it out and d**n they're huge. There was 6 Pike sitting on the ice that people caught and the biggest was 50+ inches and the others were all over 40 so now I want to fish for them when the ice goes out cause I like the idea of catching them on rod and reel more then pulling them out by hand and using live bait. So my question is which lures should I used while fishing for these beasts? I never really tried fishing for pike so I'm clueless. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  22. I was 3 my family went camping up in Island Falls Maine. Which was when my dad got me my first spincast rod. I was so excited to try it out so I kept bugging my dad to bait my hook but he said he'd take me fishing later cause he just got done setting up camp. So he went to lay in the hammock to rest a bit. I being impatient decide to fish from shore at our campsite with just a bobber and a bare hook. and every cast I was like "I got one!" to reel it in to see I had nothing till finally I hooked a baby bass which was only like 3 inches long. I got all excited and ran up to my dad still laying in the hammock and was like dad look! I got a fish. He didn't believe me and didn't even look to see so I kept bugging him to look till he finally did. He ended up falling out of the hammock from being so surprised. Next thing that happen was him going to my mom saying I got to get that boy some worms and take him out in the rowboat. Been fishing everyday that I can since then
  23. I'm a kayak/bank fisher and I live near Cobbosseecontee lake
  24. Guess maine waters are all mine :-p
  25. Okay I was just thinking about this. As most you may know already I'm getting my first Casting Reel. But the question I have now is should I get left handed or right handed? I'm right handed for like drawing and such but when it comes to fishing I've always used my left hand for reeling and my right to hold the rod but that's with a spinning reel. Is it any different with casting reels? or will it feel different and have any of you been through this before? Thanks for you're support
