  1. O.K...try this, t rig a worm of your choice..cast out, let it sit for a bit, then lift your rod tip about a foot, then lower it on slack line, when the bait hits the bottom, reel in the slack, and at a slow pace and a steady cadence reel continuesly..that's called slow rolling, I have caught plenty of fish using this method, but it doesn't always work..anytime you feel resistance, set the hook, even if you think it's a snag, which it very well may be, but hooksets are free.. When setting the hook, lower your rod, reel in the slack, and snap your wrist back toward you, keeping the pressure on, if you feel the fish starting to come out of the water, stick the rod tip in the water, and continue to reel in..Make sure you have quality hooks, and they are Sharp..I like the Owner hooks. I'll have to see if I can get to el d soon, maybe we can snag a decent bass or 2..lol
  2. it comes in green , yellow and bronze brown . the brown is all they are offering at *** . Did you happen to ask if any other retailers carry green or hi vis yellow..?
  3. What rod, reel, and line are you using..? As far as waiting to see which presentation, or color ect.works..you can fish as long as you see fit..I've spent well over an hour just throwing a bluegill colored chatterbait before I was getting ready to leave. left it tied on, went back the next day, in the same spot, 4th cast, bam..solid 5lb'r..sometimes, lady luck might have a bit to do with catching fish.. ;D
  4. This braid sounds pretty interesting..will look for the spec's. thanks for postin this up.. 8-)
  5. Everyone knows TW rawks..
  6. What I wanna know is...where did you snag that 3:16 shad from..? Nice report on the flippin rod.. 8-)
  7. It's Illegal in Cali to talk on a cell while driving, much less texting.. Isn't it ironic how technology has made cars much safer each year but the people who drive them get worse every year ? It kind of cancels out any gains made. What's it take to get a license these days ? Do you have to circle the picture of a car on a sheet of paper with random pictures on it ? Do you get multiple tries ? I doubt that the DMV here fails anyone, to get a drivers Lic.. >
  8. 1..Change when your Not getting bit after about 15 or 20 mins..I wait a bit longer. The bass will let you know what they want..i.e. when you start getting hits. Some days one will work better than the others. 2..In most cases, color doesn't have much to do with catching fish, However, I find that the bass there are more likely to hit browns, and or cinnamon colors more than others. Size can be a factor too, if they are hitting the 6" worms, go down to a 4.5" worm. You can also try, Oxblood, Hologram shad, and sexyshad, in the roboworm colors. 3..Try Fan casting, i.e. cast along the shoreline, to your left, and work back toward your right, that way you cover more water. Sometimes a bass will hit if they are chasing a baitball..and yep, they will hit a worm, best if it weightless, or use a Very light weight. Some guys will yell and scream at the ducks, and geese, I don't worry about them, and I don't think the bass care if they are around, I mean, what is a duck going to do to a bass..?lol The best thing you can do at el d..is stay Positive..keep working the ranger lake, change baits when you feel the need..think outside the box, if you will..If there's weeds, don't be afraid to throw your bait in the thick of them, most likely, that's where the bass will be.
  9. X whatever..no barbs for me..
  10. I still get his e-mailed bass articles from GYBC. Thanks for the info. :-X
  11. Haven't seen him posting, or insulting Bobby..lol On a serious note, I hope he's o.k..I kinda miss the old geezer.
  12. I would just say, if your a shore fisherman, and need distance, a longer rod would suit you better. Oth, if you need to cast to tight spots, the 6'0" would be a good choice. I fish from shore alot, and seldom use anything under 7', I have 1 6'6" spinning set up for tight casting, and I don't throw cranks alot.
  13. I have the 7'11"HF Okuma Guide Select rod. I toss 8" Punkers, Hudd'sBBZ's and 3:13 Mission baits w/o any problems. I can also throw 6" Hudd's and other baits with it too. I have a Curaso 301E and the balance is fine. Granted, it's not as light as the high priced rods, but for under 120.00 shipped, it's hard to beat. I looked at several rods, couldn't afford the one I wanted, but have no regrets with the Okuma.
  14. You can get all the Roboworms at either Savon Tackle in Sant fe Springs, or Long Fin in Orange. Savon is off 605 and Telegraph Rd. on Orr Day..right around the coner from the Chevron station.
  15. Who are you talking to..????
  16. Good to hear. I was torn between the 6'6" and the 7' mh..obviously I got the 7' rod..Can't wait to try it out. I did fish with the Stradic this morning..Whoever said that the Stradic is way better than the Sahara, was right.. 8-)
  17. Tough to say. I'd favor the Bold Bluegill. If you have em, take both. Good Luck.
  18. Stoopid hurts, and rightly so. :
  19. Well, I pulled the trigger on a 7'mh spinning C3 today. Should match up well with my new Stradic.. 8-)
  20. Check your PM's.. The bite is really tough, as I explained in my pm. You could have done a few things more, but I'm not sure it would have helped to get you a bass..
  21. Always use a uni to uni, never had the knot fail. Also since I went back to Yozuri, no breakage.. 8-)
  22. What was wrong with the Sahara..? I have one that I use for fresh, and saltwater fishing..Granted there more you spend , the better they get..I have a Stradic FI coming tomorrow. Still I think the Sahara is a good reel for the $$$.
  23. Braids have different diameters..So depends on which brand you use. Example, Diawa Samuri braid in 55lb test, has the same diameter as 10-12 mono..Other brands may be the same, or thicker. You can use backing if you want, I tie to my spool which has holes in it. Backing would save you some $$ cuz you would use as much. 55lb on my baitcaster. 20 to 30 on a spinning reel should be fine, there are no set rules re: what test you can use. I prefer to use the highest test possible, as it cost's the same as smaller line.
  24. We use GYBC baits like the flappin hog, Ika's ect to catch saltwater bay bass, and hali's..Also Huddleston huddlebugs work to, or any craw, or creature type bait, even 4" roboworms will get saltwater fish.
