  1. Go with the H..it will throw most baits better. Also the Okuma has a lifetime warranty.. If you have a good flippin stick, you can throw the lighter swimbaits, i.e. 2 oz. or less.. If you have the $$$ the Doybns rods are tough to beat..

    Bass only eat crawdads... ;D
  3. Are the hard baits ss, floaters, or fast sinkers..? How deep is the water you fish..? Depending on your answers, I may have a good suggestion for you..
  4. Spinnerbait would be my first choice..Everytime I fish a lake with timber..that's what I throw, and it seems to work the majority of the time..

The Hudd being a soft bait has caught some Huge fish..it sorta has a paddle tail...doesn't it..

Like a 6' Ugly stick and a Shimano Spirex? Might be over doing it with that rig... ;D
  7. If you have the correct rig, let the rod do the work..I can throw 4.5oz swimbaits all day w/o getting tired. No need to whip them out there, the rod does the work, yet the baits still get out pretty far..

    One that works..?
  9. For the heaviest baits I use 55lb braid. For lighter swimbaits, I add a leader, usually fluro, or a coploymer. If you keep snapping line, I would be checking your guides. I have thrown the 6" Hudd on 12lb Yozuri ultrasoft w/o any problems, that's not to say that's what you should use..I have since went to 20 lb Seaguar Abrasx for my leader, on 55lb braid. Also, when casting, are maybe trying to whip it out there to hard..? If your using fluro, or a copolymer, and backlash that creates a fols in the line is suseptable to breaking.
  10. Did I say it was the best/quietest, and smoothest..? No, I said TRY it...
  11. Nuff said...and I bet Roger didn't have to look that up either..
  12. What # test are you using..? and did it happen with all lures and hooks..?
  13. Yup. I've done searchs on some popular topics and got nada. Also, questions that are constanly repeated happen on all types of sites, motocycles, trucks ect..so I'm pretty use to them.. To the OP, sorry for the OT...carry on.. 8-)
  14. I fish with Invisx..I use a palomar knot for everything..never had a problem yet..the line needs to be wet, as not to burn it, cinch it down well, and your good to go..
  15. Try the Diawa Samuri..I use the 55lb..no noise, very limp. no break in. Not the cheapest..but for flippin, pitchen, and throwing swimbaits...I like it.
  16. baby fluke on a scrounger head..
  17. Welcome aboard.. There's a few guys that use War Eagle, sorry, I'm not one of them.. ;D
  18. 20lb Seaguar AbrasX..good stuff.
  19. Kinda spendy..I opted for the Invisx for my spinning rig (6lb)..and Abrasx for my baitcaster (20lb). which is mainly for flippin, and light swimbaits.
  20. Roger, I have to admit that they do get beat up fairly easy, more so due to fish mangling them, but also they tend to get beat up fishing in big rocks too..It would be nice if they could find away to at least make the first 1 1/2" with a more duable plastic..
  21. How do you guys figure that braid backlashes more than other lines...? Providing that your using Quality braid.
  22. 55lb Diawa Samuri braid, Chronarch bpv 101 reel, very seldom get a backlash, except on a light bait casted into the wind..I get way less backlashes with the braid vs mono or fluro. I have No brakes, and little to no spool friction.
  23. I use JJ's and megastrike. The neat thing about the Megastrike, besides the attractent part, is it keeps plastic's Soft. I also use it on my soft swimbaits, as they need to have good action when swiming..Now, IF Bobby would ever get that Trout scent made...
  24. Have you tried the Hologram Shad..?
