spooling baitcaster
Never respool with new line, always use what you have for backing, and save some $$$. X 2 re: the uni to uni knot.

swimbait setup.....
Your cranking rod is to soft for a 6" hudd, unless your cranking rod is rated for 2 1/2 oz baits..You didn't mention a price for your swimbait rig, so I'm just gonna assume, you want to spend as little as possible. Also I assume your Not fishing for toothy critters, or stripers, but largemouth bass. The rod..the Okuma 7'11" HF is a great start, it's reated 1 to 6 ozs..I've thrown 4.5 oz baits with it, at 109.00 and free shipping from TW. Reel, you can use a low pro baitcaster, unless your fishing for stripers ect..then a reel with more line capacity is needed, such as the Shimano Cardiff, Callcutta, or the Curado 300's.. Line, if you intend on throwing 8" hardbaits such as the BBZ..your gonna need at least 25-30lb mono, or fluro. If your goning to stay in the 6" range for both soft, and hard baits, then 20lb would be fine. I've thrown 6" Hudds on 15lb Yozuri hybrid Ultrasoft, but you run the risk of breaking off if you get a overrun on the reel..Oh, unless you have issues with trees, bushes ect, the 7'11' will give you longer cast's, the rod is also avialble in a 7'6" model too.

Braided line too soft and wispy for wind
Even my 55lb braid gets blown around alot. Still, it's worth having it just for the lack of stretch, and strength..

Drop Shot Baits?
Worms that work best for me are Roboworms, either a 6" or 4.5" flat tail in a number of colors..i.e. oxblood, Hologram Shad, Sexy Shad, Margarita Mutalator, Arron's Magic..There are a bunch more color combos you can choose from. If the bite is real tough, and there isn't a chance of gettin hung up..try a 4.5" worm with a size 1 dropshot hook, and nose hook the worm, no need to impart to much action on the bait. Use as light of a fluro line as you can..4 lb min.

Pitchin line?
55 lb Samuri braid, with a fluro leader, test is determined by where I'm pitching, usually 10 to 15 lb's.

Backpack for big guy.
This is gonna sound strange, but my son who's 6'6" @ 280 has used this backpack, it's actually a surfers backpack to carry a wetsuit ect..Now I use it for fishing.. ;D Anyways..here's a link, you may want to call them to confirm that it will fit you. Kinda spendy, but well worth the $$$ imho. http://www.shoponeillusa.com/product/Mens/Backpacks/PSYCHOFREAK/pc/673/c/0/sc/775/198583.uts

best flouro for soft plastics

Whats the best way to put flourocarbon on a spinning reel?
I've had fluro on a couple of my spinnin reels, no problems...You Need to spool your line the same way it comes off the spool you bought, otherwise it will tend to jump off..also, you want to keep tension on the line while spooling it. If your reel is a size 2500 or smaller, 10 lb is Max, 6 or 8 is recomended.. AAs for good fluro, try the Seaguar InvisX, I have the 6 lb on my reel, and love it.

New Baitcaster Troubles.
I just got to thinking about this again..I know this sounds goofy, but in your line correctly threaded through the guides..? You wouldn't be the first one to accidently get the line wrapped around the rod..

Dropshot Rod Question
I like a 7' or 7'6"..MF It's whatever is most comfy to You.

New Baitcaster Troubles.
Is it possible that the reel, being that it is new, was packed with to much grease..? We know some makers do that on purpose..If that the case, a pro can clean and relube it properly to give you more performance. Just curious, what is the power, and action on your BPS rod..? I have a BPS Rick Clunn worm rod, 7' MF witha BPS Extrem BC reel, and I can toss a 1/2 oz anything a decent distance, as I'm most others here could too. Also, I find I get better distance IF I don't try to Whip it out there, but let the rod do the work, i.e. loading it up, and let it go..I get my best distance casting sorta sidearm..about 1/2 way between a overhead, and sidearm..

best flouro for soft plastics
while I've only used the Invisx for a few outings, and in the 6 lb test..I really like it. I want to spool my BC, and after a recomend, and some research..I'm going with the AbrasX instead, it's stronger, more abrassion resistant, and softer than the Invisx..if you can believe that.. There's a chart on the Seaguar site, that gives a discription of all their lines, I made my choice in part because of that. Unless you want to use the Sunline, pretty spendy line, at about 40.00 for 160 yds..

Baitcasting line
X 3..I would suggest trilene XL, only because it's pretty managable, and cheap. Once you get the hang of the baitcaster, then you might try braid, but it has a completely different set of problems compared to mono, and fluro..plus as was said, most of the braids are not cheap. Mine runs about 40.00 for 300 yds. compared to the trilene at about 10 % of that. Also, re: braid, works great for jigs and frog type baits, don't really think you need it for spinnerbaits though. And JFYI, some do use leaders, usually if the water is really clear..
-
When your flat out struggling. What do you throw?
And the reality is, sometimes fish just won't hit anything that isn't alive..which is the worst scenairo in the world..

Using jigs in lakes with no crayfish
LOL..Catt, you owe me a new keyboard..just spit 7 up all over it.. ;D Hey, I thought it was pretty funny..

Looking for some advice
If you can get the Rick Clunn rod on sale, it works pretty well for plastic's. I've thrown spinnerbaits, lipless cranks, chatterbaits, and shallow cranks with it, although the tip is kinda soft for lipped cranks, if you stick to 1 to 5' you'll be o.k...Normal price on this rod is 99.99..

Shelf life of spray Attractant
Have no idea on how long it would last..But I do agree with RW..

Looking for some advice
Are you asking for brands, or type of reel, and rod..i.e. A 6'6" mf rod. Also what have you looked at.?

Custom Swimbaits
