  1. So, I'm at Castaic Lagoon yesterday, and these 2 ladies, that appear to be in their late 50' s, early 60's come trolling by in a very nice Ranger bass boat, 1 ladie is pitching a white tube, the other is casting a white jig. They were having a great time, fishing and talking, and thought...how cool is that.? Anyway, I thought it was worth mentioning.
  2. Nice set up...I'm curious, how do you know the biggest bass in your lake is 6 lbs..has the lake been shocked or something..?
  3. For those pesky snagged leadheads ect..and you have braid w/o a leader. Wrap a rag, or a small dish towel around your hand to prevent the line cutting you, then wrap the braid a few times around your hand so you can pull on the line, and save your rod. I pulled a good sized snagged swimbait out of some tullies when I snagged it with a 1/2 oz Jig..
  4. I think that the make and model of the reel may play a part in how a reel is set up. For example, My Chronarch has No brakes, and very little spool friction, I use it for most all apps. OTH, my BPS extrem has to have the mag. brake set to 9, or I get overruns, unless I keep my thumb on the spool. On the johnny Morris..brakes are on 7, very little spool tension..
  5. I don't experience any of these things..
  6. RW..try the Diawa Samuri..I use the 55# braid, mainly for flippin, pitchin, and on my swimbait rig. Not sure if I'd use it for other apps..The yozuri ultrasoft works pretty good for the rest. Btw, I spooled up some 15# ultrasoft, and was pleasently surprised at how well this stuff cast's.
  7. To sorta match a dragon fly, try a Damsel...
  8. I've tried black, brown, and purple. Doesn't seem to make a difference compared to the color Lead.. ;D
  9. When hunting cyotes/ varmits..you call them by imitating a destresed rabbit. Where I fish a craw of any type needs to be fished Very slow, just like a real dad would move underwater..I also use only crawdad colors..
  10. I try to imitate a crawdad's movments..
  11. I was thinking about trying that line.
  12. I bought a bunch of those..sadly to say, I've only caught 2 bass on them in the last year, 1 was about a pound...the other, 8lbs.. ;D
  13. 55 lb braid..I hate gettin stuck in the tullies..I like the braid because there's No stretch, and you can feel very subtle bites..You could always use a mono, or fluro leader if you have clear water, but I've used braid in clear water with good results.
  14. I don't know, but I get by with my 6.3: 1, I have even used my 5:1..
  15. Welp, I didn't fair nearly as well as you did Chris. We saw smaller males up to about 4 lbs cruising in 4' to 10' of water near shore, however they din't want any part of what we were throwing, except for a couple boaters that got a couple of 2 lb'rs on roboworms, which I tried both t rigged and DS'd.. Anyway, sounds like you had a decent day, doesn't sound like a Ho Hum day to me..
  16. Hmm, this might interest you...solid 8 lb bass on a 2" yum craw...

Sports Chalet, has them too, but selection is small compared to TW. also most tackle shops carry them. Roboworms work for all rigs..even whacky rigging. These come in 4 1/2" and 6"..most prefer then flat tail version, they also come in a curly tail too.
  18. Hittin Castaic Lagoon tomorrow, real warm here for the last 3 days, but windy. Suppose to rain on Wed. & Thurs. so I prayin the fish decide to start biting.. BTW I'm fishing from shore. Get em Chris.. 8-)
  19. As are the Flappin Hogs.. those are dynamite Texas rigged weightless!
  20. Well, it's fine If you don't use it for a leader with heavier baits. I've had the 12lb fluro snap, and it wasn't at my knot.. Lost 2 20.00 lures.. >
  21. Either one..
  22. Same here for all three baits..

Also, when fish are shallow, but are in or under cover like weeds ect. You can swim a lizard over the tops of the weeds to draw the fish out, or you can crig em, and drag a lizard through the cover if it's not super dense.
