On my swimbait rig I use 55 lb braid, and have tied 12 and 15 lb fluro to it for a leader..I have always used the uni to uni knot..6 twists on the braid side, 8 twists on the fluro, or mono side..my line has snapped but never had a knot fail..Make sure to mosten the knots..

To throw "lighter" lures/baits, the rod needs to load up..a stiff tip won't do that. It's my experienec that the Shimano rods are usually rated for less weight than they can actually handle..so a mf might be something to look at, The Clarus, or Crucial depending on your budget.

There's a technique to thowing havier baits so you don't get sore, or to tired..

Here in Cali, lakes and the dfg set limits and size requirments, or C&R only..I never keep any sunfish. I will however keep a nice trout If it's been in Cold water, they just seem to taste better. All bas are C & R'd.. 8-)

Ditto on the football, and jerk bait..When you throw em out there..let them SIT, and when you do move them, small twitches, don't try and impart a ton of action..let them sit for at least 30-60 seconds or more. That is IF you can reach the fish..

I had paid for my newspaper subscription over the phone via my debit card..2 days later, Penny's called me ( we had a Penny's CC) to say my 50" LCD TV would be delivered tomorrow. I'm like wth..I didn't order any tv..So, I called my bank, they had a new account and card for me within 3 days. Also, I notified the cops, seems this fool was dumb enough to continue to work for the paper, where he was promptly arrested..

I use Megastrike on all of my soft swimbaits. I like that it does add a scent, and it also lubes the bait so it's easier for the bass to inhale it, plus it softens the bait to a certian extent, which gives them a little better action. Still waitin on my trout scent Bobby..

There are websites for those dedicated to swimbait fishing..

Kent, we must have 2 different batches of yozuri then...I find that it makes no difference, as the line works great off the spool as is..

Guys across the USA throw swimbaits..and yes it's effective..

Jig Jig with a trailer Suspending jerk bait.

I have tried a bunch of times with them..both as a main bait, and a trailer..Nada. I would recomend the ragetail craw chunk..looks better too..

Sorry jason, I haven't used P Line..I'm sure someone can help you though..Oh, re: the 12lb, I always use the hybrid ultrasoft..very managable imho..for comparision, I like it better than izorline xxxx in 12lb. if that helps at all. Btw, while I was at the Fred hall show, I asked the Yozuri rep about applying KVD line conditioner to the hybrid, he said that it cannot penetrate the line so it's preety much usless to apply it, that goes for the ultrasoft too. I know RW, likes to use the KVD line conditioner.
