  1. ;D ;D That's funny. In fact Chuck was my martial arts teacher way back in the 70's.
  2. Some great stories guys...
  3. WTG....3 to 3 1/2 lbs.
  4. I pay more attention to the lure rated weight. Although these are just recomendations..i.e. I have a rod rated for 1 oz max..yet I can easily toss 2 oz lures with it. Some manufacture are under, some are over rated. I find that Shimano are underrated. Teamdiawa is very slightly underrated too.
  5. Dunno..12 is the heaviest I've used, and it was more managable then the 100% fluro, I have on now. BTW, this is w/o any line conditioner. My guess is the 15 will be fine.
  6. First time I fished was 1958, bought a spinning rig at Thrifty drugstore for 4.99 or something. At 10yrs old, I hopped on a bus that took me to the nearest lake, which was Legg Lake in so. cali..the only lure I had was a red devil..I didn't know how to even cast my rig, I released the anti reverse and slug it as hard as i could. Wound up hooking some mans arm.. :-[ He pops the hook out (wasn't beyond the barb) then proceeds to teach me how to properly cast. I was in heaven..Then my folks got divorced, that was the end of my fishing for about 7 yrs..fished up till the mid 80's then stopped. Luckly, I got back in it, when my Son bought me a nice spinning rig for Christmas in 08, he's been fishing since he was about 9, at 35 he's still doin it.
  7. Shimano..baitcasters, and spinnin reels, plus the rods.. Had to use their customer service twice, both time were Great!
  8. I fish Guntersville fairly often... it has quite a bit of grass ;D I do not use a leader there, or anywhere with grass for that matter. I tried it and the leader defeated the purpose of straight braid in the nasty stuff. It wouldn't cut through it as well as running straight braid. Only took a fish or two for me to realize that! K...thanks.
  9. Green or clear..all works the same for me. Raul nailed the reason why YoZuri line is our choice.
  10. I use braid with hollow body swimbaits (basstrix type) on lakes with lots of grass, and I go with 50lb. I could easily switch over to toads or swimjigs on the same combo with the same line. If there isn't any grass, I prefer FC line. Do you use a leader..?
  11. Here's a goofy one for y'all..I use 55# braid with a 12# leader for my swimbaits...I use a uni to uni knot, never had a failure yet. I like the braid, as it's VERY limp (samuri) and cast's a mile, also like the no stretch, I use a leader for the shock factor..
  12. When you say "swimbaits" I think of baits like 6" Huddelston's ect..Those swimbaits are usually fished in mostly open water, i.e. no weeds, or tullies ect. Those weigh almost 2 ozs. I use 55lb Diawa Samuri braid, for throwing swimbaits, I also use a leader, usually 12 lb. YoZuri Hybrid, or 100% Trilene Fluro. If your lake has big rocks, don't use braid. Also the wind tends to blow braided line all over the place.. ;D
  13. I have my Chronarch on a Shimano 7'6" Calcutta, mxf line rated 10-20 lure rated for 1/2 -1 oz..but will throw 2oz swimnaits with ease. In my case, I would rather have a 7'11"..also the cover I fish doesn't require a really heavy rod, mine is under rated..has some backbone.

    X 2..
  15. Try burning them sometime..Also you can swim them like a jig, bounce them ..IF you don't have weeds, or timber.. ;D Each bait has it's place. I'm gonna make a bold statement, some may not agree, but, I find that a spinnerbait a bit more of a reaction bait than a chatterbait. Opinions..?

    Throw a 8" Huddelston..
  17. On the pure poisen, I like to sharpen the hooks a tad with my diamond pad..they seem to dull up, so make sure ya keep em sharp..
  18. All year. T rigged weightless, C rig, I have even dropshotted them, with a short tag though..lol
  19. Strike King..Pure Poisen...
  20. 3 and 4" paddletail Hammers work great with the scrounger..as does the babt fluke.
  21. A chatterbait should Never replace a spinnerbait..
  22. How many spinnerbaits does it take to catch a bass...?
  23. Good on ya....Karma will repay you.
