  1. Some of us (me) prefer to use our "spinning" rigs, i.e. for light lures like weightless plastic's, cranks, ect..Don't go out and buy a bc just cuz they look "cool"..get something that you can Catch fish with, and feel comfy using, everyone has their personal prefences.
  2. I have an older Extrem..cast's great, ect..I find that I need to adjust it more than my Shimano..but heck for the $$$ they are tought to beat. Just have it serviced when needed, and ya should be fine.
  3. If you can, cut em in 1/2..use4 them for tid bits... I shoulda said, cut the bad parts off..duh
  4. I don't have that many lures ect..Most of the time, I'll throw everything in my tacklebag..My twintail hula grubs get thrown the least.
  5. JJ's and Megastrike...I threw everything else in the trash.. ;D
  6. Hammer 4 replied to wack's topic in Fishing Tackle
Feel the jig...be the jig.. ;D
  7. Selection is LIMITED, and on most fishing stuff, they aren't any cheaper than bps, turners, ect. Every now and then you can pick up certian items cheap...ain't worth the drive or long wait in line to save 2 bucks.. I'd much rather Support my local Tackle Shop..
  8. I have used my spinner baits like a jig..as long as there isn't a ton of weeds ect..it will produce fish. That's one thing I like about spinner baits, versitile... Never had any bites using them as a wakebait..
  9. I bought Franks Shara...1 word, for the $$$$ it's sweet. I now have 2 Shimano spinning reels..they don't disappoint.
  10. Got mine last week...gonna test it tomorrow.. On edit: the lake was Closed today.. > Will give it a go tomorrow, Wed...
  11. We will have to agree to disagree..i'd rather have a nice reel, but a better rod..weather it's right or wrong is any ones guess..imho Wrong. Start with a Shimano Stradic 2500 FI and any 6 1/2' - 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action rod. Reels are what makes fishing fun. On average, the cost of my rigs are 67- 75% reel/ 1/4 to 1/3 rod. 8-)
  12. No pic's...might check your account, or links.
  13. Do whatever is comfy for you...end of story.
  14. FishDontLikeMe...I did comment on that, I was trying to point out how important the thumb is overall.
  15. The most Important part of baitcasting is the use of your Thumb..train it, and the birdsnest's should all but go away. Oth, pro overruns still may occure..lol BTW, my Son throws weightless plastic's (sencos) all the time, his rig is a BPS Jonny Morris BC reel, and a Rick Clunn 7' mf rod.
  16. I broke my BPS rod, my fault..took it in, with the recipt, and they replaced it, no questions asked..only problem was they were out of the rod I bought ..so I got a Rick Clunn instead, same price. Mine was a 100.00..for 40.00 bucks, I wouldn't sweat it...buy another.
  17. BBZ...swims really nice...as does my Mattlures hard BG..
  18. I totally agree with War Party..better to invest the majority of your $$$ in the rod...those reels will serve you well.
  19. Just to point out..if your getting a "nest, or over run at the begining of the cast, it's the brakes, if your getting the nest/overrun at the end of the cast, it's your Thumb / spool friction is too loose. And yeah, those Snap cast's will cause havoc sometimes..lol
  20. My Son gave me a Diawa Tierra for Chirstmas, but it's a spinnin rod, 6'6" mf..I've used it for a variety of lures, and while it may not be the best for any one given bait, I've caught alot of fish with it, he also gave me a Shimano 2500 reel to go with it, seems pretty balanced. I now since aqquiring a cough few other rigs, use that for my worm rod. Also, look at the Shimano Clarus, it runs about 70.00, has a lifetime warranty.
  21. Once you do.....you'll never go back...lol
  22. Re; Splashes...my Mattlures hard bg makes a pretty good splash..lol Doesn't deter the bass though..I actually had a fish on earlier this evening at the local high pressure pond..My fault for not landing the fish, as I tried to set the hook to soon, and yanked from the fish..duh. Also in these ponds which are cement, I fan cast working from parralle to shore and back.
  23. When in doubt, I fish the points. I use a rental boat, so I llok for structure. I'll toss c rig to get a feel for the bottom, creek beds ect. While on the points, I start with topwater then go down till I get a fish, if I get none, I move on.
  24. That's wierd, cuz I've always been able to cast further with my spinning rig..The rod has alot to do with also, along with the weight of the lure.
  25. I agree $$$ to a certian extent will get you a better reel, i.e. take the Shimano bc reels, the citica and curado..grab them and crank em, you can instantly feel how much smoother the curado is compared to the citica..i.e. 119.00 vs 179.00 at tackle shops.
