  1. In all the years I've been throwing swimbaits, and glide type baits, I have Never needed to change anything on these baits. All this talk about changing out hooks ect. is IMHO not needed. What you do need is Time, learn how to control your baits. Big glide will pull big fish from deep water if fished properly.
  2. I have no favorites, I like all my rigs equally.
  3. M or M/L spinning rod with 8 lb mono.
  4. I'm with DVT. I generally use a 8' rod, but I have used a 7'6" a couple of times, I prefer the 8 footer.
  5. Back in the early 60's Winchell's had the best donuts, they disappeared some years ago, such a shame.
  6. Belated Happy B Day youngun. Just wait till you hit 75, not much works the same as it did even 10 years ago. Gettin old isn't for sissies..Take care of yourself while you still can.
  7. Yeah, if I'm fishing sparse cover or more open water, I drop down to 30 lb, which gives me a touch more distance.
  8. I have more spendy reels, but so far my Feugo has worked just fine, with 50 lb Smackdown.
  9. By the way, any one who doesn't want their glide baits, to include S Waver 168's, send em my way..?
  10. Reef flipflops.
  11. Nothing I can say, that already hasn't been said. I can only pray for the friends I've lost, and all those who gave their lives to serve this great country of ours.
  12. Could be bigger bass in there. Some anglers just don't tell anyone about the big fish they caught. Me and a few friends use to fish this park pond years ago. One time we wen there about 8pm during a late spring evening. A couple of us hooked up to bass that were over 12 lbs, yet none of us ever mentioned that to anyone, mainly for fear the pond would become over run with people, so don't assume that the 6.8 is the biggest bass caught there.
  13. Been throwing glides and big swimbaits for sometime now. Never used any reel over a 6 speed. my Tatula 300 6 speed works just fine. I wonder if someone polled all the top swimbaiters like Butch Brown, ect. which speed reels they use, if any of the use 8 speed reels, be interesting I think.
  14. So, I use to play tennis at least 5 days per week, I worked nights back then. Any how, eventually I got a good case of TE in my right arm. Doc told me to take a long break from tennis and any activities that could cause any pain, which I did. After talking with a few folks it was suggested to me that Magnesium might be of some help, so I started good routine, and after about 2 1/2 months the pain really started to go away. Now that I play a bit of golf, and have been asked by a couple of guys on the range, about the elbow pain they have, I recommended they get some Quality Magnesium, and give it a go. In both cases their arm/elbow pain was gone, and never came back as far as I know. Might be something to look into.
  15. @Catt and @WRB. There are others, those 2 are my top picks, honorable mention @A-Jay
  16. Bull Shads aren't the only swimbaits on the market. And like Jedi said, the Big girls got big by being Efficient, that doesn't include going full bore to chase bait in most cases, which imho is small. I'll say this again, big bass are Ambush feeders, when there's a bunch of bait fish getting corralled generally the big ones hang on the bottom and make easy meals of injured or dying bait fish 99 % of the time. Being in very shallow water, say around 2 feet is the exception.
  17. 6 anything more is gonna be overkill. Seldom do I burn a glide or swimbait, that is if ya wanna catch the big girls..
  18. I'll notify the Media...?
  19. I totally Disagree with that. Fact: Golf is a Hard sport to master, not to mention just getting good at it. At 74 and scoliosis and arthritis in my back, I'm still able to shoot in the 70's a good percentage of the time. It's taken me years to get to that point. Give it a try, and you will see what I mean. ?
  20. It's Illegal to catch any game fish and transport them, this includes Bass.
  21. When I was float tubing, I made a 4 rod holder out of pvc. Easy to make, the rods sat in the tubes butt end down, and they were pretty much out of the way. Looked for some pic's of my set up, but looks like they got deleted.
  22. Also, you may want to contact the DFW about how, where, and the legal stuff about getting bass in there.
