  1. Yup. I had a good 6+ lb bass jump almost 2 feet out of water trying to grab my spinnbait once. Didn't hook her but was exciting to watch.
  2. I'm a righty, and use left handed reels. My reason for doing so, is that I want my Dominate hand to be working the rod, which is more important that cranking with it. Also it eliminates having to switch hands. I've had bass hit my lure even before it hits the water, and the time it takes to change hands may cause a lost bite.
  3. 6 or 8 lb mono, is what gets used on my 2500 size reels. I tried fluro a few times, but I keep going back to mono as found that fluro really didn't catch more or bigger fish.
  4. Never used a trailer on my spinnerbaits. Chatter baits get a Zako trailer on it.
  5. Like Tom said, if you have a boat, there a few lakes in San Deigo south of you. If your a bank fisherman, there are a few city park lakes/ponds to fish, which get a lot of pressure. I've fished most if not all of them. Also, I would recommend that you go online and read the rules for catching game fish in Cali. I'll tell you this, it can be frustrating, until you figure out where the bass are, and what baits they prefer. Best of luck to ya, and welcome to Cali and BR.
  6. I'm gonna say a Badger. 2nd choice, Bald Eagle.
  7. Swaver 168.
  8. Have a look at the Irod swimbait rods, the Gen II or gen III rods are very reasonably priced. If I were you, I'd look at the rod rated up to 6 oz. It will throw lighter baits easily. I know cuz I own 4 of them.
  9. Welp that spains it . Welp that splains it .
  10. Get out there, and get to callin...😉
  11. Unless I'm throwing just swimbaits, a spinnerbait is first on the list. I'll fish that and any other bait until I've exhausted all my options, then I'll change.
  12. If your not already, start taking a quality vitamin D. It helps. Hope you both just have Mild version, get well soon.
  13. Way to go Clayton. Very well deserved. ?
  14. I get cold pretty easy. I found that layering up with Heat Tech garments seems to work the best. You can get long sleeve shirts, and bottoms to under your normal clothing, and the cost is very reasonable.
  15. uni to uni, 6 wraps each, never had any issues.
  16. Spinnerbait is the first thing I throw, ponds are just to shallow, and full of stuff to get tangled up in. I also throw a double fluke rig, which works well.
  17. Having surfed, and played out door sports my whole life, including working in the sun. I seem to have an attraction to Shumais cell. Had a small skin graft on my right hand years ago, that put me out of work for 6 weeks. Mostly get it on my arms, so I keepem covered best as I can. Either cover up, or use the Best sun block you can buy.
  18. I use to fish the salt 3 to 4 times a week with my bass rigs, shimano reels both baitcasting and spinning. All I did was Gently rinse them off with my hose, never had any issues. I did however clean them every 2 to 3 months.
  19. Also try a 6 or 8" Huddelston..?
  20. I fish a couple of ponds/lakes that have that exact greenish stain, and over the years I've had pretty good luck with purples of varying shades, but the one that seemed to work best was Grape. I've also had fairly good luck with white and chartreuse spinnerbaits with double willow blades.
  21. That's AWESOME news Andy, so happy for both of you. Keep it going Lynn !!!!
  22. Congratz....
