  1. That's about the same for me...
  2. About 8 years ago, I bought a 301E curado, and 2 201E curado's. Swapped out the drags for carbon drags, and kept them oiled and greased, never had a issue. Wound up selling them, and to this day, I wish I had them back. Great reels imho.
  3. 6'10 t 7' ML/F...would be suggestion. As for a reel, size 2500 or 3000, depending on the manufacture. The ML in most makes will have a lure weight of 1/8 to 3/8 oz. A med will bump up to 3/4oz in some cases.
  4. Just as a JFYI...It is Illegal to keep or sell bass ( game fish) in Calif. unless you have a permit from the DWF. Personally, I don't why you would want to confine a game fish.
  5. I would suggest having a Staple of baits, i.e. proven baits that will catch fish consistently. Obviously you'd want plastic worms of various types, i.e. Roboworms, Senco's, ect I would include spinnerbaits, chatter baits also. Jig's of various types are a must, as with trailers of which there are many, most folks have their favorites. You could add swimbaits of various sizes, some to use on underspins, or bigger one that require a Heavy rod and at least a 300 size reel. Then there are the top water baits, frogs are a must have imho..Buzzbaits, and walking baits may be in the mix too. Then you have glide baits, some can get rather spendy. I don't fish crank type baits much anymore, but they can be very effective catching fish, either lipless, or billed. Do I think you need 20 of every type of bait out there to be successful..no. Get what you think will work for you, and only time on the water will give you that knowledge. Aside from baits, get the best gear you can afford. You don't need a 250.00 rod, or reel to be good. As for line, I've always bought the best, but good line isn't worth snot if you tie bad knots, so get good at tying different well. Anywho, welcome to the forum, all the best to ya young un...
  6. Shhhh............
  7. Did you happen to get a small pack of washers with the reel.? If the one you removed was thicker than the washers in the pack, try installing the thinnest washer. I'm no expert on reels, but I think you'd want a washer in there.
  8. Remembering George..For You Blue
  9. Caught many, many bass on spinnerbaits. Color, of the skirt, and blades make a difference. Also, fishing them at the right time. For me, a white head/skirt, maybe with a touch of blue, or chartreuse, with sliver willow blades in 1/2 oz is my go to..Spinnerbaits have worked in almost every body of water I fished. IMHO, spinnerbait fishing is an art in it self.. Put in the time, and you will catch em.
  10. I used 10 and 12 lb for a few years without any issues. If I had to choose, it would be 12 lb, 14 if I was fishing more cover. BTW, Sunline Shooter is working really well on my 2500 size spinning reel, stuff has virtually no memory.
  11. I stick with Sunline shooter, or sniper..Tatsu makes a good fc line also.
  12. If you did this right, i.e. you never run into the backing, a uni to uni knot is all you need, easy to tie, and pretty small knot. If you have any doubts, a dab of super glue on the knot will add some strength. Make sure to keep some Tension on the line as your spooling it on the reel.
  13. Opps, forgot to add Little Feat and Jethro Tull to my list.
  14. I use to breed Oscars years ago. They made great pets, If you kept them in a Large aquarium. Somehow, I can't get my head around fishing for them..
  15. Give Bass Master Tackle a call, I'm sure they know what if any license you will need.
  16. # 1, if I were you, would be swimming lessons and a safety course. Then get the best PFD you can afford..Then look for a boat..
  17. You can do dis..anyways, good luck, but I doubt you will need it..
  18. Jimi Hendrix Experience.. Stones Beatles Pink Floyd
  19. This year, I'm using Sunline Shooter FC..Pretty happy with this line so far.
  20. Yeah, buy some. But beware, if there's any vegetation they will get snagged.
  21. Being that I fish from shore often, I use a 7'4" for froggin to reach the areas I feel will hold the best fish. I do have a 7 footer, for when I need to be super accurate, or have limited space to cast.
