  1. I fish them on a texas rig and they are great, I use those rage craws and chigger craws gonna play with some havoc baits soon.
  2. For you personally is there a real noticeable gap from the savvy to the champions? I use a lot of braid and flouro which I know really make up the difference in feel from cheap rods to expensive rods, But if I am just paying for componets and nice cork ect its not worth the extra money I could be putting into a reel.
  3. Me to,I would love a dedicated crankin rod w/o breakin the bank.
  4. Did you ask or did he mention the blanks on the savvys vs the champions? I see people say they are the same and some others say they are very different. Also on the extremes how much more sensitive did he mention? I dont have a crazy rip their face off hookset, but sometimes if I am fishing heavy cover I will set harder to get them out.
  5. If they were discovered it would be like suicide for their business.
  6. Well I have some money to spend, I am gonna go with a lews tournament pro, I wanted to love the curado e series, but the one I had was just meh for me. Maybe I got a dud, but the d series was better. I was thinking of the scv st croixs as well or maybe an nrx, but I dont think I can justify 500$ on a rod even though I could swing it.
  7. How soon on the savvys? I may call their customer service to see if I can talk to any of them as well thats a good idea.
  8. These will be my first "high end" rods, I have had compres, crucials, and some BPS sticks in the past.
  9. Its the older ones i got at a garage sale for 20$, still my go to spinnerbait rod, The new ones are very nice.
  10. I was using a 7' MH BPS crankin stick, I like crankbait rods for spinnerbaits, as well as jerkbaits. the moderate fast actions really helps keep the fish on and keeps constant pressure on the fish. Plus it was a great lipless rod as well.
  11. I am in the same boat as you, every spinning reel ive ever owned has been shimano, but by handling the patriarchs I fell in love and I am considering getting a couple.
  12. I apologize for starting a new topic on this, but I didnt word my original post the way I intended. What I am curious to hear from people who have owned and still fish both, is the Champ extreme worth the extra 80-100$ over the champion. I am gonna get a couple of casting rods for tex rigs, jigs and other soft plastic presentations as well as a cranking/spinnerbait rod, and a couple spinning rods for drop shot, tubes, and shakey head applications.
  13. All good news to me and makes my purchase easier. I am still debating on what rod to get for it, but I am leaning toward some Dobyns champions extremes.
  14. never thought about the sol, I havnt used any Diawas ever.
  15. Also I know I am going to get a lews tournament pro reel for the bc rods, I want a pflueger patriarch spinning reel, and I know it sounds kind of dumb, but I want my reels to match my rods. The only think about the Champ Extremes is that nothing matches them great.
  16. I really liked the feel of the champions, I will be getting some dobyns rods to try soon.
  17. I have been working crazy ot and work and saving a bunch, so I am gonna really treat myself to some new gear. So the cost of the champion extreme or champion and I am not concerned.( Not to sound like an arrogant jerk)
  18. Well went to a local guy who is a dobyns dealer and got to "showroom test" the three different lines of Dobyns Rods. How much of a difference is it from the Champion to the Champion extreme? The savvys felt nice, but I felt the champions were the lightest of the bunch, Is the DX worth the extra money from the champion series. I throw a lot of soft plastics and the champion doesnt have the 7'4 model of Dx I like but the 703 and 704 were very light and had a nice feel.
  19. Thank you and that was also good to read. I am also interested in the response to the cf handles.
  20. Well I think I am gonna try one out and pair it with one of the new lews rods as well, I live right near janns netcraft and they have both in stock.
  21. Oops forgot to search thanks for the input, like I said the reels feel sturdy in the hand.
  22. I was at janns netcraft today and I noticed the lews rod and reels and I picked them up and played with them some. The reels feel very solidly built and the rods were very light, I am thinking about giving them a shot here in my next purchase, has anybody here has success or negative takes on them or has used them and can offer some sort of review?
  23. This is a pic of some gills I caught out of the same pond.
  24. sweet! Those could be used on a dropshot or small scrounger!
  25. Looks great, I would toss them for sure.
